"Sean and his crew went above and beyond when it came to removing an old concrete swimming pool from our property. Sean was very prompt in calling and coming out to give a very reasonable estimate on the demolition of the pool and concrete surrounding deck. He started work on the demo immediately and did a very thorough job of removing the old pool structure and deck - he didn't fill in the old pool because he said it would hold water and our yard would always be spongey - he used a machine to hammer it into pieces and then used his excavator to load his trailer and haul the debris away. Afterwards, the restoration of the yard began. We had an unusually wet spring and it was very very difficult for Sean and his crew to backfill and grade - its impossible to grade mud. Sean went above and beyond bringing in loads of gravel to stabilize the soil so they could backfill the hole. Even though the gravel was much pricier than just using dirt, he never asked to increase his quote."

"We hired Tom and his crew after only talking to one other company. Restivo was the most thorough and clear about what they would do and how long it would take. The quote was much more than the other company but they were doing well more than double the work. Our project was delayed by weather and the teams previous job going over schedule, but once they started they were rock-stars! Our project ended up more difficult due to the way our house was built and we ended up needing to do more work and pay more. This was a bummer but Tom was very clear about why the work needed to be done and assured us it was the right thing to do. They finished much faster than expected, even with rain during our project. Overall this was one of my most pleasant experiences working with a contractor, and would 100% refer and consider Tom and his team for more work in the future."

"Top notch land and lot clearing did a great job clearing my lots. They were very prompt in reaching out when I did an online inquiry. They had someone out to do an estimate the next day. I was able to book the job and they had equipment out with in the next two days to do the job. They were very reasonable with pricing that I was actually surprised. The two gentlemen that came out and did the work were very professional and seemed very experienced. I would recommend them to anyone."

FAQs for excavation projects in North Ridgeville, OH

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.

When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.

Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.

If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
