"I highly recommend The Builders & Cleaners for any remediation needs. From the very beginning, their proposal was incredibly detailed and transparent, with the Project Manager clearly outlining the scope of work and the materials to be used. They provided a high-value solution that was very fair compared to other quotes I received. The overall service was professional, seamless, and timely. Communication was a standout part of the experience; I was kept in the loop daily by their amazing Office Admin. A huge part of this success was the crew chief, who was fantastic to work with. He managed the team with precision, ensured every detail was attended to, and handled every request with professionalism and expertise. Most importantly, the quality of the work was excellent. The remediation was thorough, precise, and completed to a very high standard. They didn't cut any corners and ensured that everything was cleaned and restored perfectly before finishing the job. "We received educated options a quote for saving 3 aged trees & best care to trim, maintain extensive, older hedges. A team of 6/7 was dispatched to thoroughly complete all promised + additional services in lawn care. Not an inch left "unturned". Surprise was a custom wooden arch created on site to support a large weakened branch! A sweet entrance walkway touch. All completed in one long, very high temp day, and no complaints from work team, nor us. Highly recommend, owners Bill & Lynn, Team lead, Jason, and all the supporting cast, know their business well!"

"C2G did a great job with replacing a buried oil tank with an above ground Roth tank. They were in on time, came prepared and completed the job quickly. They were also the only company that we came by that offered to remove the abandoned tank too."

"Jeremy and his team did a wonderful job. They installed fence panels, a privacy panel, bamboo outdoor curtains and some artificial ivy for me. They were fast, professional, left my yard immaculately clean and even hauled away the trash so my bins wouldn’t overflow. I already have several more projects planned with them! I would highly recommend Jeremy and his team at Eastern Woodland Solutions and I look forward to working with them again in the future."

FAQs for excavation projects in Old Lyme, CT

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.

When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.

Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.

If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
