"Being a retired plumber, I always snaked out our sewer main myself. Unfortunately I ruptured my lower three lumbar discs several years ago, and can no longer perform this task. I have an older home with clay a sewer line going from my house to the street, and with a large tree in the yard I need to have someone auger out the line at the very least every 18 months to clear out the tree roots that get into the hubs (connections). I wasn't sure who to call because my drain cleaner for several years retired. So I decided to check Home Advisor, I started reading the reviews for Superior Drain & Jetting. It was around 10:30pm on Sunday night, Robert called me at 10:45pm & scheduled a time for the next morning. Robert did an excellent job, was very friendly & professional. He showed up on time, took care of the plugged sewer main, and ran the snake back and fourth a few extra times to make sure that there would be no problems in the near future. I will be hiring Robert to come back to Hydro-Jet the main to further clean, & rinse the main from any dirt, sludge, etc. that remains in the sewer, So I can rest easier knowing that I shouldn't go downstairs to find a backup. I wanted to add one more thing, and that is there are a few crooked Drain cleaners in town that will tell their customers they have a crack, break, or collapse in their main, and that it needs to be excavated and repaired with PVC, which will cost several thousands of dollars. Robert did not try to pull that nonsense with me, and I appreciate his honesty, it is very much like an Auto Mechanic telling their customers that they need to repair/replace something on their car that doesn't need it."

"They did an Awesome Job with replacing the fence and worked with me on my insurance adjustment. They also grounded some stumps that was included in the cost. The people they had install the fence were not illegals which was a big plus. Great guys I would defiantly recommend them to anyone and have."

"I have a 7% slope on my property and needed the ground leveled to build a large round pen. I also had a 40 ft connex box on the way and needed the ground built up and leveled for the Connex box to sit on. To build the round pen one side of the hill had to be lowered about 5 ft to build up the opposite side. In only 1-1/2 days, my round pen was ready for the steel panels to be delivered, and the area built up and flattened in time for my Connex box. I gave DC Land and Clearing a general description of what I needed, and didn't have to think about it after that. I didn't ask for gentle sloping sides on all sides of the round pen given the amount of dirt that had to be moved, but was very pleased to see them. My Connex box has been delivered and sits flat on the raised, smoothed ground. I am very pleased with the work performed by DC Land and Clearing LLC, and highly recommend them for any kind of dirt clearing and re-shaping you need done. Their experience shows in doing the extra landscaping they did to ensure the ground could be re-planted and easily maintained, and safe to walk on in all kinds of weather. DC Land and Clearing LLC gave me the quality I wanted without realizing that's what I wanted until the job was done. A professional job at the price I expected to pay. No surprises, no surcharges, no damage to the well head 10 ft away, and nothing missing when they were done."

FAQs for excavation projects in Simla, CO

Depth depends on the type of installation and the regulations in your area. Water supply lines typically require 24 inches, while drainage pipes are often installed 36 inches below grade. For most general projects, a depth of 12 to 24 inches and a width of about eight inches is sufficient. Sticking to these specs keeps your utilities safe, code-compliant, and easier to maintain later.

When you need to run utilities underground, you’ve got two main options: boring or trenching. Boring employs directional drilling to install utilities without exposing a continuous channel, while trenching requires excavating an open channel to place utilities securely. Directional drilling preserves landscape integrity, whereas trenching provides direct access for installation, albeit with greater surface disruption. This clear comparison helps you select the method best suited to your project.

Plan on 12 hours to dig 100 linear feet when the soil is cooperative and you can work continuously. This timeframe applies when work is performed consistently and methodically. Factors such as rocky soil, tree roots, obstructions, and frozen ground increase the overall duration, demanding extra planning and effort. Comprehensive operational planning ensures that every challenge is managed efficiently and the project is completed on schedule.

If you want your yard to look untouched, laying fresh sod over the trench is the quickest fix. New sod needs 30 to 45 days to root and blend with the rest of your lawn. A local sod pro can provide you with a firm timeline and tips to ensure the grass takes hold and maintains your curb appeal.
