"I hired this company to inspect and clean a chimney and wood stove at an older rental farm home for insurance purposes. Landon and Mason were awesome. Very professional, knowledgeable, young men and on time. The cost of the job was very reasonable."

*OWENS CORNING PLATINUM CONTRACTOR* COMMERCIAL & RESIDENTIAL SERVICES There are many reasons why DWC ROOFING COMPANY is the choice for many home-owners in Indiana. However, if we could summarize all of those reasons into three simple words they would be: quality, service and professionalism. We provide our customers with one of the industry’s highest quality products, we follow up the project with quality service, and we conduct our business with standards of the professional conduct. Let’s look at each concept in more details: Quality: Everything we do projects quality. Our products, our people, our service, our installations, and our warranties. Service: This all important element after the project must be responsive to our customer’s needs, must be the fastest in the industry and must support our warranty and sales representatives to the utmost. "We had a couple of roof leaks and after initially consulting another Angie's list contractor first, we chose to go with Maximus due to price and ease of working directly with Eric Hunsucker the owner of Maximus. All went very well. Due to shoddy workmanship by the original builder of our home (Ryland), we had an entire new roof installed and some rotting wood trim around our windows expanded and replaced. Eric and his crew took extra effort not to damage our extensive landscaping around our home during the roofing tear off and replacement process. There were a couple of bumps along the way in the projects, but Eric handled everything to our satisfaction with no hassles. If the quality of work by his company stays as great as it is now, we will use him again in the future. We would recommend Maximus General Contracting to our friends and family.

"Prior to choosing ABS, I received several quotes and made my final decision based ABS being family owned and operated. When I received my quote from Aaron, he inspected my crawl space and outside my home. He took several reading of the moisture throughout the wood. Aaron spent several hours going over all the issues he found. Time was not an issue for Aaron, as he explained the situation to us, he answered all our questions (sometimes twice) and was very polite. Now onto the days of installation, day one, Joe their lead engineer and crew arrived onsite. Joe was polite and knowledge of the job he was there to perform. He stayed in constant contact with me. Walked me through the process they were doing each day. They spent 5 days due to the size of the job. On day 4 is where they had issues, some larger jobs tends to have unexpected complications. The complications are where you will know if you hired a good company or not. As I stated Joe’s continuous communication with me helped me understand their issues and the company’s solutions. They had to call in more support and because this is a family owned company even the owner showed up. They took the time to explain to me what was happening and what they did to fix the issues. They did not charge me the additional material or time. They went above and beyond what most companies would have done. Now I have a solid and dry crawl space and that is all thanks to American Basement Solutions. I had a positive experience and would recommend this company to anyone. **Side note, Joe you where AWESOME! Thank you and Thank you to American Basement Solutions."

Start with a professional inspection. If damage is limited to a few bricks or the crown, a targeted repair helps keep costs and disruption to a minimum. Severe leaning, widespread mortar failure, or major fire damage usually signals it’s time for a complete teardown and rebuild. Your contractor will outline both price tags, but remember that rebuilding a failing stack is often cheaper than repeated patch jobs and the water leaks or fire hazards they allow.
Cracks provide water with an easy path into the masonry, weakening the bricks and mortar and increasing the risk of collapse or fire. Gaps can also let hot gases and sparks escape into attic spaces. Call a chimney pro as soon as you see cracking so they can seal small joints or recommend a larger rebuild before minor damage turns into a costly emergency.
Smoke rolling back into the room often indicates a blocked flue, a broken damper, or a drafting issue. Have a sweep inspect the damper, flue liner, and any obstructions right away. Most fixes involve clearing debris, repairing the liner, or adjusting the damper so the fireplace pulls air correctly. Don’t light another fire until a professional pinpoints the cause and confirms your system is venting safely.
Most policies cover chimney repairs caused by a sudden, covered event, such as lightning, a fallen tree, or a house fire. They won’t cover damage that stems from neglected maintenance or everyday wear. Review your policy or contact your agent before scheduling work to determine what documentation your insurer requires and what costs you will be responsible for.
Component life spans vary. Clay tile or cast-in-place liners last close to 50 years, while stainless-steel liners last 15 to 20 years. Mortar requires attention every 25 to 30 years, while crowns last 50 to 75 years. Use these numbers as a maintenance roadmap: schedule regular inspections, budget for future upgrades, and replace parts before age-related cracks develop into more significant problems.
