"I was thoroughly pleased with the fine quality of work provided by The Basement Pros in leveling my sidewalk. The work was done by the owner himself, Peter Garvin, and Alexis, one of his experienced workers. I am completely satisfied with every aspect of the work done by Peter and Alexis. They arrived on time after giving me a call and spent over 90 minutes on the job. They answered any questions I asked and graciously explained the poly foam method used to level the sidewalk. They took their time injecting the poly foam, insuring it was done in the most efficient manor. They made sure not to rush the injection of the poly, examining the progress of the leveling many times throughout the job. I was very impressed with the teamwork of Peter and Alexis during the process. They consulted and advised each other as the work progressed. I found them both to be very professional and personable. The same can be said of Yana in the office. I have every confidence in quality of work done for me. They were very respectful of my property, cleaning up everything as they finished. They also asked if I had any questions or concerns about the job when they finished. Obviously I did not. I truly feel that I could not have had a better experience than I did with The Basement Pros. It is certainly gratifying to have an outstanding company do an outstanding job for me. I give them my very highest recommendation without any reservations."

"I would hire Jose and his team again in a heartbeat! In fact I am hoping he will come back and work on my basement when I'm ready to begin that phase of my renovation. There is no more picky and hesitant of a customer than I am. I am a jack of all trades - with the exception of drywall mudding! There isn't a DIY project too big for me but when it comes to finishing drywall it is best to bring in the professionals because it truly is an art. Jose and his team were great - they worked tirelessly - were very responsive - and a joy to have around. He also applied stucco to a massive 16x10 built-in fireplace wall with lots of tricky angles which I spent at least 50 hours building so I would have only been happy with a perfect stucco finish - and it turned out perfect! If you have Jose and Golden Key Restorations on your list of options then you won't regret hiring them. I can only speak to their drywall and stucco work because that is the only work I had them perform but if I didn't enjoy doing DIY projects so much I would have no hesitation in hiring them for other projects."

"First off...super nice. I know you aren't hiring based on niceness...but it helps. Came over to examine the roof in the pouring down rain. Determined we needed a new roof - gave me a price right then. I wasn't home when they did the work, but they were there when I got home and they finished in one day. Work looks great and they cleaned up nicely once finished. Also replaced gutters, but that was my choice...they really don't try to sell you anything other than what you asked for. No one likes paying for a new roof, but if you have too, you should go with James Carroll."

Where is a foundation in a house?

Where is a foundation in a house?
A house’s foundation is always located under the house itself. A foundation is the load-bearing portion of a home and is usually built below ground, though different types are built at different locations under a home. For instance, a basement foundation is built at least eight feet deep into the ground under the house to create living space below the ground level of the home. A crawl space foundation is built under a shallow trench beneath your home—typically between two and five feet deep. A slab foundation, also known as a monolithic or monoslab foundation, simply lays flat against the ground under your home. Pier and beam foundations also rest on the ground, but elevate the home using piers, typically about two feet off the ground.

What are the types of foundations for homes?
- Basement Foundations: Also called a full basement foundation or a daylight basement, a basement foundation is one of the most popular types of foundations. One of the appeals of a basement foundation is that it offers additional living space under the home. A daylight basement typically includes windows to let natural light into the space. This type of foundation allows for homeowners to maximize the footprint of their home by offering a finished living space.
- Concrete Slab Foundations: Also called a slab, monolithic, or monoslab foundation, this type of foundation is essentially a poured concrete slab that rests on the ground under your home. It’s typically one single piece and is relatively easy and inexpensive to build.
- Crawlspace Foundations: This type of foundation provides just enough space under a home for a person to crawl around in to access plumbing or wiring, or store equipment such as a furnace.
- Wood Foundations: These types of foundations are less common, though they were a popular choice in the mid 20th-Century. A wood foundation is typically made of pest and mold-resistant wood, like cedar or redwood. They are easy to install, though they aren’t as long-lasting as concrete foundations. Wood foundations are not ideal for climates that see a lot of rain and snow, as they must be built on very dry soil.
- Pier and Beam Foundations: These foundations, which are common in coastal areas, use piers and beams to lift a house off the ground. Also known as pier and post or pier and pile foundations, the aim of pier and beam foundations is to support a home that is built on sand or soil that is prone to flooding, erosion, or ground shifts. A structural engineer needs to oversee the building of a pier and beam foundation to ensure its structural integrity.
How much does a foundation repair cost?
+
How much does a foundation repair cost?
The typical cost to repair a foundation is between $2,200 and $7,500, though most homeowners pay around $4,800. The price of a foundation repair depends on the extent of damage. Major repairs that require the use of hydraulic piers can cost $10,000 or more, while minor cracks can run as low as $500. Fixing a leaky foundation by sealing it costs between $2,300 and $7,300.
What is the strongest foundation for a house?
+
What is the strongest foundation for a house?
Concrete foundations that are reinforced with steel plinth and beams are considered to be the strongest type of foundation—especially on lots with loose or muddy soil. This type of foundation uses a reinforced concrete beam built between the wall and the foundation. Homes built in areas that are prone to flooding or earthquakes also benefit from a foundation that contains steel plinth and beams.
