"Purchased a 1906 home in North Portland with an uneven foundation that had been patched for 60 years, but needed serious stabilization work. I contacted multiple foundation contractors in the greater-Portland area and Ram Jack was the only team that provided a full worse-case estimate that included everything that I may need to permanently stabilize the home's foundation. Other contractors' estimates were higher, omitted some of the features of Ram Jack's estimate, and involved greater excavation work around the home. While I was collecting estimates, I had multiple contractors check the levels on the house and could see the home was continuing to sink as much as half and inch in some areas within only a few months, so I knew I had to do something soon as the hotter summers are causing significant erosion to the clay soil in north portland. After paying the 50% down payment, I was quickly in touch with multiple project managers and structural engineers who were able to answer my questions as the work plan developed. I work from home and have two cats, so I was a bit worried about the noise and needing to leave at certain times during the work. Ramjack devised a plan of installing 12 helical piers from the basement and 2 outside for a small crawl space area as well as replacing most of the piers in the basement that had water damage. During the excavation and pier installation, I didn't have to leave my house at all, my cats were fine, none of the utilities ever needed to be turned off and none of the neighbors said they heard more than the hum of the generator outside; insane professionalism. The work team kept me informed at every step of the excavation and pier installation and was able to recover an inch of lift with only a few drywall cracks that I patched in a day. I could have gone further, but wanted to avoid any potential damage to the sewer pipes and stay within my budget. During the lifting, I was standing with the lead construction manager who kept me informed of every risk as we lifted the house bit by bit. During the excavation my basement looked insane with mounds of dirt everywhere, but the construction team cleaned everything flawlessly; all I had to do was a quick mop and the basement was good as new again. Overall had a great experience with RamJack; the 20 years in business shows, most everyone I dealt with had been working with them for years; the construction manager had been doing pier installation for 15 years. The work was expensive, but cheaper than the other local contractors, and certainly way cheaper than replacing the entire basement foundation. Ramjack was even able to take a few grand off the intitial worse-case estimate for solutions not needed. Glad I was able to repair my 120 year old home; here's to another 100 years. Big thanks to Pancho and Stephen, as well as the structural engineers and project managers; I'm very happy with the work."

"Everything went as planned. The came on time, cleaned up afterward, and even patched a crack that wasn’t part of the original contract. Didn’t even ask them; they offered. Super happy with the result. I’d hire them again."

"If you want the best this is your guy. Rome and his crew installed a slab in my crawlspace storage area. Yet they treated it as if it was my living room. Or better yet, their living room. I’m pretty sure that they are going to get their projects as close to perfect as humanly possible no matter what the intended use is. Plus they clean up everything. And I mean everything. The only way to know there was a concrete crew on my property is they that left behind an expertly finished slab. So I’ll say it again. If you want the best this is your guy."

"John John Concrete did a fantastic job, was responsive, from first quote to completion of project was about 2 weeks. They were incredibly fast. Price was so much better than any quotes I got from other contractors, I didn’t even have to negotiate. Will be using them again on our next concrete project. Highly recommend."

"4.5 stars overall for removal of concrete slab/stairs and pouring of new 10' long, 4 foot deep foundation wall. Result was excellent. Crew was considerate and trustworthy. It was expensive for me, but cheaper than the other bids I got. Communication was not great over email. There were a number of times I wasn’t replied to at all or got a partial response. I let them know and they said they’ll work on that. I recommend communicating via text instead which worked much better."

"The goal of this project was to maximize backyard habitat and production value and minimize waste and resource consumption. We were wanting to see how little material we could import and export from the site while renovating a sunbaked old yard of concrete and beauty bark. Rodrigo embraced these ideas and our frugality, as well as the challenge of salvaging, moving, and installing old, on-site plants and materials. This yard is only accessible via a narrow slot between houses, so no Bobcat or other large equipment could be used. The large area of old poured-in-place concrete was broken up by hand, and all grading (to correct a drainage problem around the foundation) was done by hand. The most notable feature of Rodrigo's hard work was his team's careful and creative use of the salvaged concrete pieces from the old patio slab. The dry-stacked, low retaining wall and pathways that were made from this material are lovely -- neat and carefully leveled, but appealingly crafted and irregular. We even needed a few more pieces, and he found the material for free at a local yard. If you are interested in taking a "green" or salvage-friendly approach to your home landscape that may require more creativity and patience from a contractor than installing new catalog products does, then I would enthusiastically recommend Rodrigo to you! He is collaborative, professional, and open-minded. He is also extremely busy due to his popularity here on Angie's List and otherwise, so expect possibility of some staggering of work times and scheduling on your project as he juggles multiple jobs."

"They were very responsive up front and scheduled the work quickly. Arrived on the day and helped us complete some other work at no additional charge while waiting for cement to arrive. Unfortunatley one of the workers walked across the patio and left mud boot marks that will not come out. We attempted to contact Sam multiple times however, after the first time he answered via text he stoped responding and never came out to address the issue. We are now stuck with permanent boot marks in our patio. They also requested to be paid in full up front but backed off when we offered to put half down. Otherwise we were pretty happy with the work but very disappointed that they did not respond or even come by to see if there was anything they could do to help fix the issue."

"These guys were great, and the owner, Jo Estrada, a pleasure to work with. A crew of 5 spent 5 hours cleaning, inspecting, and replacing insulation and vapor shield in our crawl space. They took pictures of everything, before and after. THe crew was pleasant, and worked really hard.... couldn't believe how much stuff they removed from under there. The crawl space is tight, but they didn't complain (at least to us!). They gave us good recommendations for some repairs needed for the foundation. All for a most reasonable price, compared to other estimates. They deserve every star they can get!"
