"We were having a problem with the fan on our furnace. Today is a holiday and we were afraid no one would be available. We only went online, filled out the text communication. (They actually check their text messages.). Then I noticed that we could make an online appointment, which I did. At 6:30 pm we had a knock at our door! Lee had driven over an hour to attend our heating problem. The membership was well worth it because we didn’t get charged for the service call and our issue was resolved. Thanks again, A+ Heating and Cooling!"

"Due to both my wife & I experiencing frequent sneezing while in our home during the pollen season, our physician recommended upgrading the filter system in our HVAC. Sandpiper is our "go-to" HVAC company so we contacted them about such equipment. They responded immediately and Adam was most knowledgeable about such systems and offered several options to solve the problem. We selected what we wanted and one week later four Sandpiper techs arrived and installed the system within 2 hours. Both the sales person, Adam, and the crew were totally professional and kept us completely informed. We are MOST SATISFIED with the Sandpiper personnel, equipment and pricing. If you are looking for a reputable HVAC company, Sandpiper is the BEST>"

"Chad came out the same day and did a very thorough analysis of the inside and exterior heat/AC unit. He changed the filters and all his recommendations to both me and with my husband on the phone as well about his concerns. We value his expertise and we are very impressed with this company. Glad we made the decision to switch to ARS."

"Repar guy showed up on time and was very friendly. Problem was diagnosed and fixed within 30 minutes. The cost for repair was a bit pricey, however, it was worth it seeing as they were available immediately (other companies I called were unavailable for several days and tried offering me after hours visits and wanted to charge me after hours prices!)"

"Ronnie ordered the new system and installed it within 5 days. It took them about 2 hrs. from start to finish. He checked our entire duct system to be sure everything was good and tight. He installed a new thermostat and when he cut that thing on, boy did the heat really roll. My wife and I can sit and watch TV at night without wrapping up in blankets. Can hardly wait for summer to see how well it is going to cool. Ronnie says we will be pleased. We decided on the Westinghouse system because of the 10 yr. complete system warranty and the fact that a lot of the exposed system is stainless steel rather than aluminum or copper.
I highly recomend this company for your HVAC needs. They are friendly, professional, through, and will go above and beyond to please the customer. I was charged their original quote, even though they did more than the quote really called for. I believe they will do what ever they can to leave you pleased, with their work, before they leave.
Mr. Nolan came back a couple days later, to see if everything was to our satisfaction and to give me the registered warranty on my new system. I was a little surprised because registering the warranty with the manufacturer is something you usually have to do yourself.

I am hard to please and they met my expectations.

Oh yes I can't leave this out!  My next door neighbor bought a new system last year, not quite as big, from another company and different brand, and paid $1500 more. He turned green!"

FAQs for furnace / forced air heating system install or replace projects in Calabash, NC

Converting from an oil furnace to an electric furnace isn't a simple swap—the oil system needs to be completely removed before installing the electric furnace. You'll need a full electric system installation, but you might be able to reuse existing ductwork if it's up to current safety standards. You’ll need to budget for a new electric furnace installation, which costs between $1,800 and $6,200, including professional removal, proper disposal, and safe installation of the new system.

Electric furnaces are 100% efficient at converting electricity into heat. However, some of that heat can be lost as it travels through your home's ductwork or escapes through poorly insulated areas. That's why regular duct maintenance and proper home insulation are important to maximize your furnace's efficiency and reduce heat loss, ensuring consistent warmth and lower energy costs.

With proper maintenance, an electric furnace can last anywhere from 20 to 30 years, outlasting the average gas furnace's lifespan of 15 to 20 years. To keep your electric furnace running efficiently, schedule regular cleanings, tighten connections, and have inspections done before winter arrives. With routine maintenance, you’ll ensure consistent, safe heating for years to come.

The size of the electric furnace you need depends on factors like your home's square footage, climate, and insulation quality. As a general guideline, those who live in warmer climates should multiply their square footage by 30 to 35 BTUs, while those in cooler areas should multiply it by 50 to 60 BTUs.

Consulting with an HVAC professional can help you determine the exact size that's right for your home.

An electric furnace works by converting electricity into heat using high-resistance heating elements. A blower then pushes the warm air through your home's ductwork, distributing heat evenly throughout your space. Since there's no combustion involved, electric furnaces eliminate the risks associated with gas furnaces and provide consistent, reliable heating when properly installed.

An electric furnace uses between 40 and 80 kilowatts per day to heat your home. The exact amount it uses depends on factors like your home's size, insulation, and overall energy requirements. Larger homes or those with poor insulation use more energy than smaller, well-insulated spaces. A professional furnace assessment can help confirm the ideal unit size for your needs.
