The project involved the removal of an old concrete retaining wall that was falling over due to improper construction and replacing it with a cinder block wall with brick facing. All of the work was performed within the estimated timeframe. The finished product looks wonderful and did wonders to increase the curb appeal of the house. "I called Northern Virginia Asphalt for an estimate. The man I talked to was very responsive and flexible. The evening of the estimate, I expected someone from NOVA Asphalt; however, someone from Pave Masters Inc showed up and quoted me $3000. I looked Pave Masters up here on Angie's List and they have a D rating and a 1 out of 5 on Yelp. I'm not sure if NOVA Asphalt subcontracts work or what. Can't comment on the quality of work of Northern Virginia Asphalt, although be cautious if you arrange an estimate and someone from Pave Masters shows up."

"We were extremely pleased with the quality of work performed by Trinity Asphalt Paving. Our driveway was in horrendous condition; it had probably not been treated in years, even before we purchased the house. Now the asphalt is dark like new and the 3 major cracks through which grass was growing have been filled in and also seal-coated. Once an eyesore, the driveway now looks stunning! Our communication with Trinity was excellent; they sent email updates throughout the process. The persons doing the work showed up on time and were unfailingly polite and professional. The price was very good, considering our driveway was a large 1,700 square feet. We would highly recommend this company to anyone looking to improve the look of their asphalt driveway!"

"This work took place eleven months ago, but that gives us the ability to say that everything Kurt’s team planted looks great and is growing nicely, except one bush that is struggling, which Kurt agreed to replace without hesitation. We have been in our house for 22 years, and finally got around to replacing the crummy landscaping and walkway the developer put in. Distinct Landscapes installed a paver walkway, and a complete set of bushes, flowers and a crape myrtle tree. The work was done very well and within budget, and the crew distinguished itself by how well they cleaned up the site. The spacing between plantings to allow for future growth seems perfect. Most of all we like Kurt. He is low-key and friendly, offers solid, knowledgeable opinions when asked, and never applies any sort of sales pressure. We would use Distinct Landscapes again, and recommend them without hesitation."

"Ronnie did a fantastic job! My driveway was a mess with leaves covering a third of the driveway and weeds growing up from the cracks. He cleaned up all the leaves, pulled and/or burned out the weeds from the cracks, edged both sides of the entire driveway, and even dug out the edge of a little hill that had "migrated" over the edge of the driveway near the retaining wall. I took advantage of an Angie's List Big Deal coupon for this job and my driveway was a little bigger than the coupon offer, so he charged me a little more for that and for the clean up. He was only going to charge me $275, but he did such a great job, which took him longer than he had originally  estimated, on a very hot day, so I paid him an extra $125 for a total of $400. He was very appreciative and told me stories of how badly some of the other people who purchased coupons treated him and even left negative reports here on Angie's List. Well, my response to that is that you people are idiots and you missed out on a honest guy doing a great job. Of all the Angie's List coupon deals I've purchased, Ronnie was the only one who contacted me. I've had to call all the others. I highly recommend Nichols Asphalt & Paving!"

"They started work very promptly that morning and finished about 6 hours later.  The work went a lot quicker than I had imagined, but given the amount of equipment and workers (6-ish), I guess I shouldn't be surprised.  They cleared out everything that needed to be cleared- the retaining wall, the extra dirt, etc. I asked them to save the stone facing off the retaining wall, which they did and managed to save just about every piece perfectly. They proceeded to lay the stone base followed by the asphalt.  The finished driveway is great-it looks great and everything looks properly sloped and finished."

"I received A+ service from Granite Works. I met Bruno Valente, one of the co-owners, on my first visit. He was very friendly and helpful, not pushy like some sales people. The slab I liked the best was marked sold.  In a follow up discussion with Bruno, my brother found out that the sister to that slab was available. Bruno gave it a rating of 11 on a scale of 1 to 10, and he was right.  Bruno held the slab for a few days until I could get there. Purchased it that day, and he held it for 5 months at no charge. Many companies my brother called on my behalf would not hold a slab longer than 30 days.
When my brother was visiting from out of town, they were kind enough to bring it out of storage so that he could see it.  That day, we met Art Rivera who spent considerable time with me us and provided invaluable advice about a new counter I was adding.  He also provided other design suggestions on the backsplash and paint color, which I followed with great results. That was an extra bonus I didn't expect. So, if Art gives you advice, you should definitely take it.
The templater, Glauber (hope this is the correct spelling), was extremely detail oriented and communicated well with my carpenter and his assistant. He made a suggestion for the end cap of the new counter and the handrail behind it that made it a true work of
art.  Gus Valente (co-owner), with assistance from Eduardo (stone cutter), did a great job of deciding what parts of the stone would go where in my kitchen and fireplace.  They have an amazing eye. I was so impressed by their finding parts of the slab in totally different areas that would best connect at the seams. The installers were terrific and that process went very smoothly. I have 2 seams that are barely noticeable.  Their work in the kitchen and my fireplace surround was impeccable.
Granite Works exceeded my expectations, and I'm very picky.  My counters are a work of art.
