"I had received notice from my utility district that my water meter was showing continuous usage over several 24 hour periods.  I found Michael's Plumbing on Angies List and contacted them.  We made an appointment and a representative came to my house to look over the situation.  I have had previous leaks that had been repaired by other individuals but because the pipe was the old style PVC and my house was built in 1985, I knew it was just a matter of time before I would have to replace the water supply line.
To complicate matters further, the distance from the meter to the house is approximately 300 feet and  there is a considerable amount of rock between the meter and the house.  After considerable study and figuring, I was given an estimate of $3,400.00. It was necessary for the company to rent a Caterpillar backhoe in order to properly dig the trench.  We discussed it a bit and I agreed to the price and we set a date for the work.
The day before the work, the backhoe was delivered as promised and the first worker arrived promptly at 8:00 a.m. and began the dig.  Two other workers arrived mid- morning and began the task of laying the 1" flexible line in the trench to the house.  The crew was creative because of all the rock but managed to find a suitable route from the meter to the house.  They installed the shutoff valve on the east side of my house and laid the new line into the basement.  Additional work was required under the house to connect the new line to my plumbing system but by 3:00 p.m. my water was back in service and the crew was wrapping up.  Early in the day I asked how long they thought it might take and was assured that they would not leave until my water was back in service.
The put down grass seed and straw but I don't think they anticipated the size of this dig and because of rain we had some muddy conditions.  So I picked up several bales of straw from Lowes and my wife and I added that to what they had already put down to help keep down the problems with the mud and a dog who just can't resist any area which has been dug up.
I'm very pleased with Michael's Plumbing and would definitely use them again."
