It cost me very little because it was under a home warranty. There was a conduit that carries the wire down from the wall to the water heater and this water heater is shorter than the old one so the wire is too long for the conduit. Rather than replace the conduit they just left it hanging there with a gap at each end. I have insulated wire going through but there is not conduit to protect it. They did not take care of the conduit problem.

"They were very prompt on arriving to provide an estimate.  They were very thorough in reviewing the situation and providing a very detailed estimate.  They scheduled the work with the local power company to shut off power, replaced the panel and breakers, meter, and mast wiring, and waited for the power company to restore power in a single day.  Their work was very neat and they mounted the new external meter base so that it worked well with existing siding and paint.  They arranged for the electrical inspection with passed with the comment of "very nice work".  They were more expensive but the work was very neat and timely and there were zero issues.  They clearly knew all the relevant code and how to comply.  The extra expense was more than offset by the confidence and promptness of minimal power-down time."
