"This was the second time we used H L Bowman for our plumbing needs and we have been impressed both times. Their plumbers are prompt, courteous, and friendly, in addition to being great at their craft. For this visit, I had a leak under a kitchen sink and did not realize that I needed to have the entire faucet replaced. The plumber recommended the closest plumbing supply store and waited while I selected the one I wanted. He efficiently did the replacement. Very happy with H L Bowman and would highly recommend them."

"Billy's a gem and we're having him back next month to upgrade and reframe a door. Our house is over 50 years old and in places it shows. We had rows of rotten clapboards that the previous owner had painted over, severe water damage on the clapboards where the electrical and gas pipes enter the house, flashing that had never been installed on the roof, a disconnected gutter due to a rotten board behind it and wood so soft surrounding a large picture window that you could put your finger through it.
We called Bill on a Friday, Sat morning he arrived to diagnose the issues and by Saturday afternoon we had a quote. We sought out a couple of others and he was right in line. He was here bright and early the day after we hired him. He and his partner Brian worked quickly, efficiently and cleaned up well after themselves. Bill's greatest strength beyond his work ethic in my view was his honesty and ability to improvise. We initially planned for this to be a $15k job. He worked hard to save us money. He found a way to install the new clapboards and repair the damage around our electrical and gas pipes which saved us from hiring an electrician/plumber. He found a way to repair the gutter and the board behind it for $450 vs. the $2800 the alternative method would have cost.
Great experience with Bill and we intend to continue using him.

"Eric arrived at my apartment on time and did a great job replacing my bathroom sink faucet and popup stopper in no time. He also found a leaking shut off valve under the sink, which I did not notice initially, and fixed this one too. My experience with Eris is that he is a seasoned professional but also a nice and friendly person. I can highly recommend Eric for all your plumbing repairs."

FAQs for plumbing projects in Marshfield, MA

Schedule a plumbing inspection every one to two years to ensure your system is in good working order. Regular inspections can help you catch minor issues before they become costly problems, like major water damage repairs. You should also consider a plumbing inspection when buying or selling a home or if you notice signs of a plumbing issue. Staying proactive with maintenance can save you money and stress in the long run.

A plumbing inspection for a standard one-story to two-story home takes between two and three hours. For larger residences, historic homes, or rental complexes, a complete inspection requires a full-day commitment of eight hours. However, this does not account for any necessary repairs that your plumber might find, so it’s best to set aside additional time during the inspection in case an unexpected repair comes up.

When built with quality materials, your plumbing system endures for decades. CPVC, brass, iron, and steel provide reliable service for 50 to 70 years, while copper extends durability up to 100 years, and PEX maintains performance for 80 to 100 years. Maintaining this system with regular inspections and prompt repairs guarantees long-term efficiency.

You should repipe your home when your plumbing exceeds its expected lifespan or uses hazardous materials like lead, polybutylene, or galvanized steel. Persistent leaks, corrosion, and compromised water quality signal that your existing piping no longer meets safety standards. Repiping eliminates potential health risks and prevents extensive water damage.
