"We hired Matt for an addition of a great room and kitchen remodel (which ended up being an entire ground floor remodel) and Wow! Matt and his team (big shout out to Tony!) truly took our dream and made it a reality. At first we had met with a few other contractors who came in with sky high quotes that would have given us a simple addition with basic materials. Matt came through with a MUCH better quote including premium finishes and some original ideas on top of what we had in mind that we NEVER thought would be possible on our budget. Through the whole process, Matt, his team and everyone he brought in were extremely professional, courteous, clean and talented. Every time a big part of the project was completed I was blown away with the results. We even threw a curveball when our second child came a week early, but they stepped up and got a ton of work done so we could return to a livable space. At the end of the day we got everything on our wish list and even some things we didn’t even think we could wish for! We could not be happier with the outcome of the project! A big thank you to Matt and his team!"

"Hire John now! John and his brother-in-law were phenomenal. I needed to repair/rebuild a very old back deck and he came up with a perfect solution that was within my budget. He rebuilt what was rotted and preserved what wasn’t. The finished deck is beautiful and I can’t thank him enough. It’s just what I needed and I will be hiring him again soon. He was honest, punctual and his work/pricing is solid. Very happy that I found John. He’s quite talented."

"They did a spectacular job considering what they had to work with when they started. The roof is exceptional. I don't have any leaks and I don't have roof shingles blowing off in my yard or the neighbors' yard; it is wonderful. The thing that I was most impressed was that they cleaned up after they were done. These guys went out and made sure that the nails were up and everything. I was just very pleased. I have recommended them to a friend. The price included the tear off of the old roof. At some places there were three to four layers of roofing shingles thick and there was a layer of wood shakes. People had just gone over and over it. I was way beyond the village code, but I bought the house like that. It leaked and I tarred it until I got enough money to get the roof done. They also insulated over the porch for me. They did the garage roof as well. I absolutely had no complaints. I had a lot of people into my house to do work. This was the first group of people that I have had here that did what they promised and cleaned up their mess. I had no problems and no need to call them back. I got prices from several other people. They weren't the cheapest, but they were right down there. It was a fair price. They had it done when they said they would have it done."

"I hired Alden Painting this past April to replace some bad siding, install gutters, and paint the exterior of my home. I am more than pleased with their work. The place looks great and I will definitely hire them again when the need arises."

"The porch was built in the 1980s and needed to be completely rebuilt and brought up to code.  Keith responded to an email inquiry over the winter and went by the house when no one was there to see the scope of the job.  He gave us a bid quickly, was responsive to questions, and was flexible about meeting us when we were at the house to go over the details.  His pricing was transparent and he was able to get us a good (winter) price for the lumber. <br /> Since we were not on site during the project, Keith provided us with photos as the worked progressed.  He contacted us when additional rot was discovered on the house after the porch was removed, and he repaired it in an aesthetically pleasing way.  The quality of the work was excellent; the porch is much more solid than it ever was before.  He and his team clearly take pride in their work.  During a final walk-through with us in person, we asked that a spindle be replaced, which was taken care of without any fuss.  The work site was also cleaned up meticulously. <br /> Keith made an additional suggestion to level the walkway along the back of the house by filling with gravel, which was an economic solution to decades of erosion.  We took his suggestion, and the result is a big improvement. <br /> We will definitely use Keith again and I wholeheartedly recommend him. <br />"

"Sandy spent a great deal of time educating me about how Northstar fabricates and installs their products. She was extremely helpful and patient. <br />   <br /> There was however a problem with the size of the faucet hole. It was a tiny bit too small.  I called Sandy and she sent her guys back to the house to make things right. They were at my house within the hour and the faucet was installed and operation within minutes. <br />"

FAQs for major home repair (general contractor) projects in Adirondack, NY

In many cases, it’s much less expensive to convert a bus than to buy an RV, especially if you’re considering a newer RV model, which can exceed $100,000.

Another huge benefit of school bus conversion is that you are in control of the renovation project. You get to pick your camper's new layout and all the appliances and furniture.

While school buses can easily cost $300,000 when they're new, you can often find used buses for just a few thousand dollars. These vehicles experience extreme depreciation due to government regulations; they can only be used for so long before they must be replaced. Due to those same regulations, other government agencies cannot purchase them for their own uses, so the consumer market is the only place they can go.

The length of time it takes to convert a bus depends on the scope of the project (and size of the bus), how much work is DIY vs. done by a professional contractor, and how much work you’re doing up front.

In general, expect at least a couple of months for a conversion, but larger conversions could take six months to a year. Remember: You can tackle projects as you go: Get the basic work done so that it’s livable, and then continue to enhance your living space over time.
