"Ace is an established company in Little Rock with a great reputation.  They do windows in mansions.  I figured the price would be too high and that I couldn't afford them.  I was wrong, and so glad I went for the best.  I got Mercedes windows for a Chevrolet price.  These people are total pros, and they responded quickly and thoroughly to every issue I saw, and they were a pleasure to work with.  I still can't believe I got these fabulous casement windows for just a little more than cheap vinyl double-hungs."

"This is a great business! I had some work done in my front yard with some river rock around a shade tree, and some drift roses installed along the foundation. They also eliminated some overgrown and unattractive shrubs. John made the initial suggestions, gave us a very fair estimate, and MB and his crew did a beautiful job. It really transformed the front of our home. I'm very happy with the results."

"<p>They provided an excellent service. I was so concerned about replacing windows – I’ve never done this before – and I wasn’t sure if I was going to need a carpenter or a painter out afterwards and they assured me that I wouldn’t. A team of three men came out, they replaced all the windows very efficiently. They caulked all around it, they even vacuumed inside the house by the windows where a little bit of debris had collected during the installation. When they left you would never know they had even came. We didn’t even have to touch up paint or anything on the inside or the outside. They were just absolutely perfect. They were very professional. I have recommended them.</p>"

"I contacted Chris to come and give me an estimate on re-screening my back porch.  He arrived on time and very professional.  He took detailed measurements.  We then discussed building a new and larger deck off the back of my house as well.  Our home is on the side of a slight hill and our back yard has a view of the River.  I explained what I had in mind and Chris took careful notes. <br /> <br />A few days later I received an email with the estimated cost of the screen work and a detailed lay-out of a proposed deck.  The design of the deck was perfect - Christ had obviously listened very carefully and put together a beautiful multi-layered deck that could be done in sections.  I asked him to this so I could add onto the deck as the years went by.  <br /> <br />A few days later Chris emailed me that his crew would come at 8am the following Thursday.  The crew was there on time.  Chris showed up with his crew to get them started and make sure they did what I asked.  The men who worked on the screen were very friendly and professional.  They were done in a couple of hours.  They cleaned away all trash and put my porch furniture back in place.  Chris had quoted me $450 for the job and charged me $400 because he did not have to replace any of the wood.  Just an honest professional man.  Our main form of communication after our initial meeting was through email.  Chris is very thorough in his emails and I appreciate his time and care on details.  I look forward to working with him again.  I highly recommend Custom Deckworks. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Alexander, AR

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
