"Really nice job on installing a bathroom on the 2nd floor of a 1930s house.  Because the bathroom is over the 1st floor living area, Bertini made  sure every part of the floor was sealed against leaks.   They build a concrete pan and bath seat for the shower, and it looks good.  Heating is from in-floor radiant electric, and Bertini installed the heating mats. <br /> The tiling itself was a mix of 18x18 floor tiles from ReStore, octagon tiles from Home Depot for the shower floor, and subway tile for the shower walls and shower ceiling provided by Bertini.  I think if I had it to do over again, I'd have Bertini source everything. <br /> The care and craftsmanship were first rate.  The subway tile was laid in a running bond pattern, and grout lines are even.  They managed to work around the inevitable corners and odd shapes with care and style.  They added a few design elements--a black line and inset shelves, and those look great.  The crew--and we had the same tiler throughout the job, was a craftsman who knew his stuff.  <br /> I'd absolutely work with Bertini again. <br />"

"They are very good.  I have used them.  They are prompt and they come when they say they are going to come.  If they have a conflict they will call and reschedule which I think is good customer service.  They do good work.  They do what they say they are going to do.  They stand behind of what they do and they have a warranty.  They put in plants and don’t replant or replenish them.  We have been in this house for two years and the other house we had we sold it and it was on a hill with a pond and we had a problem with water coming down the gravel road and the pond over flowing.  They did clover work and put in a weed damp on the road going up the house so that when we have heavy rains it doesn’t destroy the road and over flood the pond.  They did that work last summer and we have been very pleased with that.  We have used them a lot.  When we usually need to have work done they come out pretty quick.  We have been their customer for a while.  They are prompt and do the work pretty quick."

"The addition went well and we were in after about 7 weeks - it would have been sooner but there were some weather issues (of course).  The remodeling section went OK, but there were a few hiccups.  Adam and his crew were great and friendly, but some of the subcontractors he uses were not giving us the time and attention that we felt we deserved with a project this size.  There were a few times where we had Adam call them back in so they could get it right.  The drywallers left CRAZY messes (mostly from our popcorn ceilings being scraped but seriously, we are trying to live there), and the electricians would come, leave, come back a couple of days or week later, leave again - just never getting the thing done. One part involving the video lines was drug on for over a month while work went on around it. <br /> When it came to the interior finish, which is Premier's crew, they were awesome.  We love the look of the remodel and our new kitchen is amazing.  The workers, Mike, Jessie, Curt, and Tim did great and they finished everything in a timely manner.  My kids felt totally fine around them and they would take time to chat with my family and pet the dogs.  <br /> We did have some miscommunications at the end with some punch list items but those were resolved eventually.  However, during the whole process, Adam was always available via email, text, or phone. <br /> Even with the subcontractor issues I described, I would not hesitate to use Premier again and I have referred a couple of coworkers and friends to them.  This was a very large project and now that we are all done and have been living in it for a few months, we LOVE it.  We get many compliments from friends and family.  Honestly, we wish we would have done this years ago...  :) <br /> I have given Adam permission to use us as a reference and please feel free to ask him for it and call if we can help give you more information. <br />"

"I was very happy with the service I received. I had a large concrete retaining wall that collapsed entirely in places, and was leaning dangerously in other places. The wall was very long, wrapping around 2 full sides of my garage, and a portion of a 3rd side, and about 5 feet tall in some places, made up of large interlocking concrete blocks. It was an expensive and time-consuming job since the entire wall needed to be torn down and rebuilt completely. Outdoor Concepts came in with the lowest estimate, so I decided to use them and I'm very glad I did. The crew worked non-stop for about 5 days to get the job done. They were always on time, worked very hard, and kept me up to date on the project so there were no surprises. The finished product looks great, i wasn't charged a dime over the estimate, and I know the wall was built right this time. Would definitely recommend these guys and use them again."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Alleman, IA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
