"Our HOA wanted to correct some advanced erosion in our subdivision. This included, site clearing, earthwork, grading and the installation of 11 tons of rip-rap stone. I met with Josh and Lacey, discussed the scope and received a very competitive bid to do the work. They did an outstanding job, kept me up-to-date and left a very clean work-site. They are a hard-working, reliable contractor who I would hire again. Sincerely - Bill Rutherford, HOA President, Marana, AZ."

"The gentleman who completed the work were quick and professional. The finished product turned out really nice. They were able to schedule the work quickly once I located the pavers. Management could be more cognizant of surroundings when chastising workers, and do so privately or quietly. Communication could be fine tuned, but I would use them again if I need additional work."

"Matt & Luis were very responsive and helpful in communicating repairs needed to our irrigation system, as well as design for our front and back yard. They added gravel to front and backyard and river rocks to our sidewalk strip and paver to our driveway. The team was hard-working and very helpful and knowledgeable. They also finished the job sooner than expected. I would not hesitate to recommend L & M Hardscaping."

"THE DRIP SYSTEM IN THE FRONT YARD OF MY RENTAL PROPERTY HAD SPRUNG MORE LEAKS (I HAD JUST HAD TWO FIXED A FEW WEEKS BEFORE AND DECIDED TO TRY A DIFFERENT COMPANY.)  MIKE WORKED WITH THE TENANT TO SCHEDULE A TIME THAT WAS GOOD FOR BOTH.  HE CALLED ME A FEW DAYS LATTER TO DISCUSS THE PROBLEM.  HE WAS COURTEOUS AND ACTUALLY MADE ME FEEL BETTER THAT THE FIRST GUY HAD NOT MESSED UP!    THE PROBLEM PROBABLY WOULD NOT BE ELIMINATED IF I JUST FIXED THE NEW LEAKS.  THE DRIP PIPE IS ABOUT 10 YEARS OLD AND PROBABLY SHOULD BE REPLACED.   THERE'S NO GUARANTY THAT THERE WON'T BE ADDITIONAL LEAKS.  I OWN THE HOUSE WITH MY DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW AND WE ARE DISCUSSING THE COST OF REPLACING THE PIPE.  I'VE ADVISED THE TENANT TO TURN OFF THE IRRIGATION SYSTEM UNTIL WE DECIDE.

"Gustavo was very professional and experienced. He installed my irrigation and lawn. He was able to give me advice on the irrigation and how to run it. My house sits on almost and acre and it would take me over an hour to water it myself everyday! I am so happy with their work and to have a fully functional smart irrigation system than I can set and control from my phone and never have to spend hours watering in the heat again!"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Tucson, AZ

Most shed foundations benefit from a gravel layer four to six inches deep after proper compaction. The exact depth may vary depending on your specific soil conditions, climate, and shed weight. In areas with poor drainage or for heavier structures, contractors might recommend slightly deeper installations. Building the pad in multiple compacted layers rather than a single thick pour helps achieve optimal stability and load distribution.

Gravel pads cost significantly less than concrete foundations. While gravel materials run about $1.25 to $1.80 per square foot, concrete slabs average $6 per square foot. For a standard shed base, this price difference translates to substantial savings. Beyond the initial cost advantage, gravel pads also offer easier installation, simpler modifications if needed, and don't require specialized concrete finishing skills.

For a standard 10-by-12 shed pad, you'll need enough gravel to cover 120 square feet at the recommended depth. At rates of $1.25 to $1.80 per square foot, expect to spend $150 to $216 on gravel materials alone. Remember to factor in extending the pad beyond the shed's dimensions by one to two feet on each side for better drainage and stability, which increases the actual area needed.

The ideal gravel for shed foundations combines stability with proper drainage capabilities. Crusher run ($0.40 per square foot) makes an excellent base layer because it contains various particle sizes that lock together when compacted. For top layers, angular gravel provides better drainage while maintaining stability. Avoid perfectly round decorative stones as they don't compact effectively and may shift under weight, compromising your shed's stability over time.
