They repaired the damage and then installed heated cables with a thermostat and humidistat to eliminate the ice build up in the future.

"they came and did an estimate. it took a bit longer than I had hoped to get them to come to do the actual work. The work so far has held up well. The only thing that I did not like was that their work caused a great deal of roof material to drop into our unfinished attic and this was not cleaned up.
