"We had an excellent experience. They came out and gave us a very fair quote. I felt no pressure while deciding on what design we wanted. They day of installation could not have gone any smoother. They are a very professional competent team. The fence is exactly what I had hoped for, we now have a little oasis of a backyard."

"We'd had a section of fence (square post picket with top and bottom rails) knocked off line by a fallen tree limb, and generally needed some pickets replaces and the double gate hardware replaced.  He did a good job on everything except the off-kilter section of fence, which he inexplicably nailed into place in it's displaced location.  All he needed to do to straighten it was lift the horizontal top rail and nail it back into place, then repeat with the bottom rail.  I eventually had it fixed by the painters I hired to repaint the fence.  But for that oddity, he was very good to work with, and came back the next day to replace the gate hardware since it required larger hardware than he had brought with him the first day.

"Manny was great and was a reliable contractor working on a large fence restoration. He was timely to arrive each morning and painted my fence quickly and better than my neighbors and at a lower price. He paid attention to detail and was an honest contractor. When he had problems, he communicated it to me quickly and gave me ample time to try and find a resolution. Would use again."

"I don’t usually write reviews however after my recent experience, I thought it was appropriate. I could start with all the buzz words however I was far more impressed therefore using empty exaggerated phrases does not do justice. My experience with Mark Meredith, LLC was genuinely one I will never forget. From the time of initial contact through the completion of the work. I wanted the front of my townhouse redone, to include: replacing wood, framing, both the storm and entry doors, shutters and then painting in two different colors. I actually could have done the work myself with some help from friends however did not have the time. Mark came to give a quote. When I asked questions based on his professional experience, I was impressed with not only his knowledge, but also the fact that he did not try to hard sell anything additional. Instead, he explained things so I could envision the end result from different perspectives. We negotiated a price and scheduled a start date in the following month. During the period between the time the contract was signed and the day the work was to start, Mark would call to let me know we were still on schedule. He and his team showed up on the exact date. They were professional, at the same time very personable. All were knowledgeable and took the time to explain what they were doing whenever I asked. The team finished the work on the day Mark had projected. I was very impressed with the quality of workmanship. In addition, Mark and his team actually did extra work that was not part of the contract at no additional cost. For example, extending the front doorway so the storm door I wanted could be installed. In closing, I’d like to recommend Mark Meredith, LLC for any full-service general contracting work you may want. If nothing else, at least lend he and his team the opportunity to give you a quote. Denise"

"

The gentleman installing it was very professional, courteous and did not leave any "messes" behind - very important as some previous electricians used have left "items" behind.

I would use this company again.

"I would have to say this is one of the better experiences I have had using folks from Angie’s List. I purchased the 8 hour coupon (I had two guys for 4 hours) They did a good job with replacing the rotten wood on the exterior of the house. Also had them doing yard work, installing gate hardware on my wood fence, installing door sweeps on several doors and leveling my storm door. I would like to hire them again in the summer for more wood rot."

"They initially scheduled the project for the week of November 28, 2016. I requested a 20x9 deck to be built. They stated that they wouldn't complete the entire deck in a week but would at least finish the framing. They did not complete the 2-hour onsite visit as stated in the deal. He visited the house for approximately 15 minutes. She stated later that the 2-hours would include time he worked on the deck plan and would include time spent on providing me a list of items needed for the deck. However, the list provided to me was not sufficient. It included less than 10 boards and only 2 bags of cement. One person came out to dig the foundation holes on November 28, 2016. He stated it took him five hours to dig four holes. After receiving approval of the foundation holes by the inspector, I was advised that due to weather conditions (rain or cold) they couldn't come out for another few days. They came out during the week of December 5, 2016. The workers advised me they couldn't complete a 20x9 feet deck, it had to be a 20x10 feet deck. So I asked them and the person doing the schedule why wasn't this mentioned before, and I didn't receive a good answer. I went ahead and changed the size and obtained approval by the HOA and the county. They put us on the schedule for December 20, 2016. On the morning of the 20th I received notice that they couldn't come out because it was too cold for cement. My partner called and complained to them and asked them to have someone come out at some point during the day. They agreed to send someone later in the day. The guys showed up at 2:15pm and worked for about two hours. The next day two other guys showed up to build the framing. During day one they put up approximately eight boards. The second day they were working and they said the deck was going to be too long. They stated it would be over 20 feet by a couple of inches. At this point, I advised them to do what they could to complete the framing. Because I did not feel as though I was getting good effort on their part. The framing was not approved by the county because the posts were too far apart. Now I need the posts to be moved or a new post to be put in. (I prefer putting in a new post.) I have already purchased the 20 feet deck boards. And I do not intend to go back to the HOA and the county to change my approval again. After this process I decided not to hire them to complete the deck."

"We got in touch with Tom when we first bought our house and he did a survey and gave us a very accurate estimate.  When we were finally ready to move ahead with our fence, he got done almost a week earlier than planned.  His team was punctual and efficient, a real pleasure to work with.  Before we paid in full, Tom came back to check on the work and ensure that we were satisified.  Would definitely recommend.

FAQs for barbed wire fence installation projects in Anacostia, DC

Barbed wire is a type of fencing made from steel wire with sharp edges or points spaced along the strands. It's designed to prevent unauthorized entry or contain livestock by acting as a physical deterrent. Barbed wire fences are often seen in agricultural settings or high-security areas because they're effective, durable, and require little maintenance.

You can expect to pay between $3 and $6 per linear foot for a barbed wire fence, including installation. The exact price depends on factors like material quality, number of strands, wire thickness, and labor costs. If you have a larger project, bulk purchasing and hiring a professional might offer cost savings.

The number of strands you need depends on the fence's purpose and the level of security you want. For a standard livestock fence, you might use three to five strands. For higher-security needs, you may require more strands to meet your needs. Consider your specific requirements and talk to your fence installation pro to determine the appropriate number.

Barbed wire fencing regulations vary by location. In many residential areas, the use of barbed wire is restricted or prohibited due to safety concerns. Before installing a barbed wire fence, work with your barbed wire fence installation pro to check local zoning laws and homeowner association rules to ensure compliance with regulations.

The lifespan of a barbed wire fence depends on the quality of materials and environmental conditions. Fences made with high-quality, galvanized wire and proper coatings can last between 20 and 30 years. Regular maintenance and inspections can extend the fence's longevity by addressing issues like rust or damaged strands promptly.
