"Beitzell did a great job for us.  The estimator was punctual and professional, and the price was $1600 less than the highest of four bids we received - for better quality construction than offered by the highest bidder.  Our lot is not flat, so the fence had to run up and down hills and was very much a custom job - no pre-built panels.  The work was done in one day, the crew was neat and hard-working, and the quality of the fence fully met our expectations.  We paid half up front, and the rest after the fence was completed.  I would use Beitzell again without hesitation - absolutely nothing not to like.

"It was a great experience. John came out to view the patio and discuss with us the work we wanted done-- building a fence to close the back of the patio, and a small fence to hide the a/c unit, and level the brick patio. We then received an email with the estimate from Lindsay a day or two later which included the fence work and two options for the patio (re-using existing pavers or using all new pavers), and the costs for both.
We decided to reuse the existing pavers. They acquired the appropriate permits needed from the city of Rockville and got to work. The job took a little bit longer than expected, but Lindsay kept us up to date on the progress as the project moved along. There were some additional delays on account of rain, but as soon as it was dry, they were back to it.
JLI was also open and responsive to questions we had throughout, as well as correcting a few things we noticed during the process.
Overall, the fencing and the patio look great, and the open communication/responsiveness between us and JLI is something that was very valuable.

The work was done very professionally and quickly.  Crew cleaned up everything, including old fence materials.  Fence looks terrific and we were very pleased with the entire process.

"Christian and his team were fantastic! We needed our basement re-finished after some flooding with the recent rains. They responded promptly with a quote and came in to do the demo before the waterproofing company installed a sump pump. They were flexible when we ran into some delays with the waterproofing, and showed up when we were ready to start. They provided creative solutions for how to re-finish the space to make it even more functional than before. Communication with the team was great, quality workmanship, and all at a great value. We'll definitely look to them again for any future work. Thank you!!"

"Ginkgo told me in April that I would receive the landscaping design in three weeks; it took about six weeks. The plants were finally installed on August 6th. Although Gingko said the lengthy winter we just endured pushed them behind schedule, I still thought it took too long to have the plants installed. Also, during the months before the installation, I found that I was the one calling Ginkgo for information and not the other way around. They were not great at communicating. I also found it interesting that on a couple of occasions when I would call and leave a voice message asking for a return call, I would receive an emailI response instead. Is this a generational thing? I would have preferred the occasional human contact. Additionally, during this process, the staff I communicated with did not exude a lot of friendliness and warmth. They were never unkind; however, I felt that getting my business did not seem to matter to them. Now about the installation of the plants. Ginkgo sent a great team to install them.. My garden looks wonderful and I couldn't be happier. I often receive comments on how nice the garden looks. Ginkgo provided me with detailed instructions on how to care for my plants, which was greatly appreciated.

"I was referred to Mr. Simms from a friend. Mr Simms did a great job on the rear gate. There were a few issues with timing, and the start of the work time. Mr. Simms is a one man shop so I can understand he is busy, but there should have been a bit further communication. Nevertheless, he did return my calls promptly. The quality the the rear gate, and the price were fantastic. He took his time and did it right. Based on this, I decided to let him bid on a fence that I wanted built in the front of my house. The price was significantly higher than the work for the rear gate. The end product does look nice, and to be clear these are custome built fences that Mr. Simms fabricates. But there were a few times that I had to step in to prevent corners being cut. Also, Mr. Simms did not have a generator for his welder, and I had to give him a power cord and he used my electricity. My bill this past month was $100 above what it is normally, and his welder also flipped a circuit in my house which was an inconvenience.

Overall, Mr. Simms is a skilled welder that does have a good eye. I would use him again if the scope of the work was completely defined."

"Initially I was hesitant about using Medallion because I saw that they decided to remove themselves from Angie's List. But because I was having contract issues with another fence installer, I talked to a former customer of Medallion's and was told that they do nice work. You just have to overlook the salesmen. I got Medallion to the price of the previous fence installer after some haggling and placed my order.  Installation went great. Medallion called the morning of 06/01 to let me know they had an opening in their schedule and if it was ok they would be able to install my ordered fence today, a week earlier than scheduled. The two installers arrived exactly on time at 9 am and began to work. The fence was completed in one day."

FAQs for wrought iron fence installation projects in Anacostia, DC

Galvanizing is the best way to keep rain from eating away at your wrought iron fence. The process coats each bar in a thin layer of zinc, sealing out moisture and blocking rust. Most panels come pre-galvanized, but you’ll still want to wash and repaint every few years to keep that shield intact.

Skipping galvanization may save a few dollars up front, yet you’ll spend far more later repairing corrosion or replacing sections outright.

Expect to pay more for wrought iron than for wood at the outset, but iron wins the long game. A standard wood fence runs $1,700 to $3,900, yet you’ll sand, stain, and eventually replace it. Wrought iron may double that initial tab, but it can last 50 to 100 years with a quick paint job every few seasons. Factor in fewer repairs and less upkeep, and iron often edges out wood on lifetime cost.

Hiring a pro to paint wrought iron runs $8 to $10 per linear foot, a price that covers careful prep, rust removal, and high-grade paint for long-term protection. DIY-ers can trim that labor bill, but you’ll need quality brushes, rust-inhibiting primer, and time to apply multiple thin coats. Skimp on prep or materials, and the finish will peel sooner, forcing you back to square one.

A well-maintained wrought iron fence easily lasts 50 to 100 years. Plan to wash it annually and sand-and-repaint every two to three years to keep rust from gaining a foothold. If you spot flakes or pitting early, touch-up paint stops corrosion in its tracks. When in doubt, a local fence pro can walk you through a maintenance schedule tailored to your climate.

Homeowners choose wrought iron fencing because it delivers exceptional security and a timeless aesthetic. This fence offers robust protection that deters intruders while providing a classic look that elevates property curb appeal.

Its construction from high-grade materials ensures lasting durability and reduces maintenance needs. The design also enhances home value and offers consistent strength and elegance.

Wrought iron fencing is available exclusively through certified local fence installation companies and reputable specialized suppliers. This source guarantees high-quality materials and professional installation that adhere to strict performance standards.

Homeowners will find that these trusted providers deliver materials backed by quality control and expert support, ensuring an investment that meets both durability and aesthetic expectations.
