"I called for an appointment on Tuesday afternoon. They agreed to fit me in the next morning. They called in the AM to verify available time and arrived at the appointed time. Within an hour they had the new garage door opener installed. When I asked if they could help with the weather stripping, they went back to their shop, picked up the materials and installed the stripping in a half hour. I was given a tutorial on how to work the new opener and was told to call if I had any trouble at all. I would recommend them whole heartedly. <br />"

"He has always been efficient and will tell me if he cannot do it. He is a one man show and seems to know all about doors. He can replace parts and replace openers and just do a lot of the little things. He even told me where to go to get the best garage door opener, I got it, and he put it in. <br />"

"The salesman, Don Wells, arrived promptly and was courteous and professional. He assessed the damage to the old door, explained what needed to be done, and left a catalog with options for replacing the door. After we had chosen a new door style, we called the company back and they made an appointment to have the door installed the following week. Again, the workman was prompt, courteous, and skillful. The base price to replace the door was $1350, which was less than we had feared, and we decided to upgrade to a door with windows at $65 per panel. We chose to install a white door, as the color we would have chosen was not in stock and would have taken 6 additional weeks. The finished product looks very nice and works great. <br />"

FAQs for garage door installation and replacement projects in Anchorage, AK

Yes, you can replace just one panel if your door is sectional and the damaged panel is available. Most modern residential garage doors have four to six horizontal panels that can be individually replaced. However, finding an exact match becomes challenging for older doors or discontinued styles. For doors over 15 to 20 years old or with multiple damaged panels, a complete door replacement might be more practical and visually consistent.

Minor dents or cosmetic damage can often be repaired without replacing the entire panel, potentially saving you money. However, if the damage affects the door's operation, security, or structural integrity, replacement is often a better investment.

For extensive damage to multiple panels or older doors where matching is difficult, full door replacement might be more economical in the long run than multiple individual panel replacements.

Your garage door panel might be repairable if the damage is superficial and doesn't affect functionality. Small dents in aluminum panels, minor scratches, or cosmetic issues often don't require full replacement. However, replacement is often necessary if the panel is warped, has large holes, shows extensive rust, or affects how the door operates. A professional garage door technician can evaluate the damage and recommend whether repair or replacement offers the best value and durability.
