"Joe from ProLift was wonderful. He was professional and very nice. He really put his heart into his work. I had bought 2 garage door openers from Home Depot. Joe came to install them. One of them worked well, the other unit was a bad unit. He did everything he could to get it to work. Even using his own wiring to troubleshoot. It was a bad unit. Joe offered to come back and reinstall another unit I bought. He truly went above and beyond. I highly recommend ProLift Garage Doors to anyone looking to install garage door openers. As a tip, just purchase the garage door openers from ProLift. Save yourself the headache with dealing with a possible bad unit."

".We contacted Jarusewski Overhead Door Service after our garage door spring snapped and the door crashed down hard enough to damage cables and destroy our garage door opener.  Scott cam onsite the next day and assessed the damage.  He ordered the correct replacement spring and cables to complete the repair.  Scott went out of his way to suggest that I purchase the new garage door opener at one of the big box stores, saving us several hundred dollars versus purchasing one through a garage door service.  Scott returned a few days later once the parts arrived.  He repaired the door components; installed the new garage opener and even programmed our new outside access keypad.  The job site was left so clean that we initially didn't realize he'd been there to complete the work.  We would absolutely recommend Jarusewski Overhead Door Service to anyone who needed service.  We were very impressed with their responsiveness and willingness to work with us to help keep the cost manageable.  The door works better than it ever has and we feel much safer using it as we know it's properly balanced. <br />"

"Lisa and Ron, owners of AM Garage Doors, responded to my late Sunday email the next morning and said they could come on Tuesday morning. They called before they left and arrived at the designated time. They quickly found the problem, replaced the faulty keyless entry pad, programmed everything to include the garage door openers, repositioned the sensors which were incorrectly positioned outside of the metal protection bar when the garage door was installed (not by AIM), tightened some bolts and were out the door in 45 minutes. I know now why I had remembered their previous service and contacted them without hesitation. They're the BEST."

"I live in Florida, but the property that needed the garage doors are in Middletown PA.  I actually found  Hershey Door Service, Inc on Angies list.  I was very pleased with the professionalism from my initial phone call to the last.   First they went to the site and measured everything.  I received a quote via email before any thing was done.  After I approved the quote we made a date for the doors to be installed.   The installer arrived on time and did a wonderful job. My daughter lives at this property I'm sure if she had any thing negative to say she would have told me.  The garage doors look great.  My daughter is now in heaven.  The old doors were heavy rotting wood and had to be manually opened and closed  I would definitely recommend Hershey Door Service, INc. <br />"

"Install went well and work looks very professional. Only problem was I had stated that I would be installing a storm door myself after the front door install. They neglected to ensure the brick mold spacing was sufficient to install a standard 36" storm door. This required me to have to special order one at almost twice the cost."

"We are really happy with our beautiful new front doors and the work that ShreveCo’s employees, Kevin, Larry and Greg did. Randy at ShreveCo helped us decide the type of door to purchase and even the color! He wrote a contract for the materials and labor that we reviewed and signed. It did take some time arranging appointments and then for the doors at HMI, a Philadelphia company, to be built and spray painted. Because we have an almost 100 year old Craftsman bungalow, we had to have a custom front door made. Home Depot, etc. didn’t have the size nor style of dental molding (none) that we needed. HMI made a highly insulated fiberglass door with wood graining, 6 lights and no dental molding. Our back door was a standard size. We went with a wood grained steel door that was vertically half window. Both doors came pre-hung. Randy recommended that we purchase a standard Andersen storm door for the back and then he would install it. The Andersen order took longer than expected to arrive, pushing back the installation date. But ShreveCo was ok with that and even picked up the storm door for us. Our old house door openings were not square so a bit of extra measuring and custom trim sizing was needed, all done accurately and professionally. Its wonderful that our new doors are all airtight and open and close easily. The men moved the doorbell location and threaded a bell wire for us. The new doorbell button required a larger bore hole so Greg carefully made it larger. That was going the extra mile. The three men who worked on our house couldn’t have been nicer and more professional and I felt safe with them in the house. They were industrious and their work was thorough. If either my husband or I had questions they were happy to answer them. The job site was left clean and neat at the end of each day. While the time estimate was 2 days, it took ½ day longer mainly because of the extra work needed to fit our wonky door openings."

FAQs for garage door installation and replacement projects in Harrisburg, PA

Yes, you can replace just one panel if your door is sectional and the damaged panel is available. Most modern residential garage doors have four to six horizontal panels that can be individually replaced. However, finding an exact match becomes challenging for older doors or discontinued styles. For doors over 15 to 20 years old or with multiple damaged panels, a complete door replacement might be more practical and visually consistent.

Minor dents or cosmetic damage can often be repaired without replacing the entire panel, potentially saving you money. However, if the damage affects the door's operation, security, or structural integrity, replacement is often a better investment.

For extensive damage to multiple panels or older doors where matching is difficult, full door replacement might be more economical in the long run than multiple individual panel replacements.

Your garage door panel might be repairable if the damage is superficial and doesn't affect functionality. Small dents in aluminum panels, minor scratches, or cosmetic issues often don't require full replacement. However, replacement is often necessary if the panel is warped, has large holes, shows extensive rust, or affects how the door operates. A professional garage door technician can evaluate the damage and recommend whether repair or replacement offers the best value and durability.
