"To start with I like the part where it’s a family based business he brought his son with him to measure the driveway and when he came to work on the driveway, he told his wife on the phone good morning and he loved her, and his brother was helping him do the paving. He also had a young boy that was new to this and he was very understanding and to do it right in very patient with him I like that"

Customers say: Quick response

"I have a long easement and an area for a future carport that needed to be paved with crushed concrete. Mitch Stevens of Bay to Bay Paving was knowledgeable and clear in his explanations and suggestions. He came across as someone trustworthy. The project was completed today, and I'm very satisfied with the results. I highly recommend this company."

Small jobs welcome

"Mitch Stevens has resealed our driveway in the past. We added another area of paving which was just finished. We had the existing driveway resealed again. Everything looks new again! Thank you for a job well done, as usual!"

"Highly recommend. Their work is amazing, they were on time, anything I wasn’t satisfied with ( which was minimal, and not their fault) was fixed immediately. When you call, he gets back to you immediately. I don’t recommend many people because I can never find people that actually take pride in their work, but Weslei and his crew are one of the few!! Their prices are comparable if not lower than others but the workmanship is definitely excellent and anyone looking to do paver work should absolutely give them a call. "

"We hired Ritchie and Crew off of Angie's list...keeping it short and simple ...all our business was made over a couple of phone calls and texts....My wife did a quick background check and the next day he was covering our drive way and we were well pleased with what they did and the materials they used... absolutely no complaints....Matter of fact we' talking to him about doing some more work on the same project.... "We had JC Masonry replace our fireplace. Cathi was great at responding promply. Joey was meticulous about his work, and did a great job! Working with them was like working with family. I wish I could attach pictures, because the end result was unbelieveable! I would definitely recommend them! In fact, I plan on using them again this summer to replace several retaining walls. Just good people!"

"Sarasota Marble Restoration did a great job restoring the terrazzo floor in my 1951 Siesta Key beach house after the 2024 hurricanes. See for yourself at YouTube.com “The Old House On The Beach” drone video."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Apollo Beach, FL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
