Customers say: Quick response

"Alan is truly the BEST at Home Theater installation or anything audio you would need. He does not try to sell you things you do not need but wants to make things work with ease. He takes time to explain what will work for you and he does not charge for every single minute as some do. We love the Sonos he recommended and he proves his prices Are fair and honest. He wears a face covering during the pandemic and we wish we knew about him earlier. Do not hesitate to use his services but know that he is quite busy because he is just that fantastic! We are very glad Home Advisor put us in touch with him!"

"TL;DR version: CH Telco was very professional. They were able to route difficult cables from my basement to the second floor without need to cut any feeder holes. Their work was immaculate. Long Version: I wanted to wire my entire home with CAT 6 ethernet connected to a patch panel in my basement, and clean up some really shoddy cable wiring done by either a DIY'er or a cruddy cable company tech. I originally envisioned having 10-12 ethernet drops and 2 cable drops; however, after speaking with Charlie it sounded like this work would take two days and cost more than my wife and I had budgeted for. I was able to reduce the size of the job by doing some installation work myself--putting up the server rack and patch panel in my basement utility room--and limiting the scope of work to running drops from the basement to the second floor (so just 5 drops). I also bought my own Cat 6E on Amazon, and ran a few easy to set drops myself in the basement. Charlie and his team were very helpful and understanding, and offered some minor pointers to make sure any pre-work I did lined up with what they needed. They also used the Cat6 cable I purchased for their own runs (I do not recommend this for a novice, I did a lot of research on ethernet cable types. The reason they did this was because I had a lot of cable leftover. CH Telco is a time and materials company, so the savings by using my cable was just the material cost). Charlie's team was able to find the best route for my wiring--next to a return air vent--and did not have to cut any holes other than where the wires terminated as a result. They also cleaned up a mess of cat 6 and coaxial cables in my basement by neatly fastening and tucking them to a board I had mounted to my utility room wall. When they left everything was neat, tidy, and labeled. I would definitely hire CH tel co again if I needed to wire my home for ethernet or add coaxial cable runs."

Small jobs welcome

"Junior installed the mounts for our (very) heavy punching bags at our business. As well as a pull up bar. They were attached to cinderblock. The mounting was done very clean, lined up & spaced perfectly, and structurally sound. Integrity of the mounts have not waned at all since installation and through very heavy use. Junior has also helped with much smaller tasks, had all tools necessary and went above and beyond. Anytime I had a question, even unrelated to a task he was working on, he gave me more information than I needed and his personal opinion. Prompt, tactful, professional, quality service. Enjoyed working with Red Gem and will continue to do so. Highly recommend."

"I contacted a number of companies for a home theater installation. Mike was the only one that came out to view the space and provide recommendations. He came on time every time and his work was very clean. Took a little longer than expected but the final product was great. Was very upfront and communicative through the whole process. Two thumbs up."

FAQs for home theater system or media center installation projects in Ashburn, VA

For those on a budget, a home theater system can be installed for as little as $5,000. This simple setup, which doesn’t require professional installation, includes essential components that provide reliable visual and audio performance. It's a budget-friendly way to enjoy movies, TV shows, and live events from the comfort of your home.

Plan to spend at least $70,000 for a high-end home theater. At this price point, you’re paying for advanced components, including flagship projectors, reference-grade speakers, dedicated subwoofers, robust A/V receivers, and professional installation. These features deliver outstanding picture quality, rich surround sound, and a polished finish. Costs climb quickly when you add custom seating, acoustic treatments, and smart-home integration, so ask your installer for a detailed estimate before committing.

The ideal screen size for optimal home theater viewing ranges between 100 and 120 inches. A well-proportioned home theater room measures 24 feet by 15 feet, with a minimum ceiling height of nine feet. However, smaller spaces, such as 15 feet by 20 feet or 10 feet by 12 feet, can also work well. These dimensions enhance acoustics and visual performance, creating an immersive entertainment environment.

A well-built home theater room should last as long as the house, but the electronics inside need periodic attention. Plan to review your equipment every four to five years to see whether new formats, connection standards, or performance upgrades justify a change. Upgrading outdated projectors, receivers, or streaming devices keeps the system running efficiently and prevents compatibility issues, all while protecting the investment you’ve already made in the space.
