"If you need new screens made or just need to have existing screens re-screened, I would highly recommend this company. They came out to my house, I walked them around and showed them what I need, and they got right to work. Everything looks great!!!!"

"59Handyman was hired to repair water damage to the ceiling of the master bedroom in my home. This included inspection of any further damage, repair of the drywall, as well as fixing the seams and re-painting the entire ceiling. Victor was communicative and efficient, he provided a 2-year warranty on the repair, the work he did made the space look and feel as good as new. He was clean and respectful of my home. Since the experience was so good I would not hesitate to have Victor and 59Handyman repair or renovate in the future. A trustworthy professional."

"They are really good. If I need windows in the future, I would get a quote. I don't know whether I would use them or not, but I would get a quote. I went to them, they didn't go to me and I think they pride themselves on that. They don't go door-to-door. They rely on word of mouth which is good. They had a good product and the price was really good. The sales pitch would not go as long as what others did before. They worked with me to find ways to cut the costs as well. The fact that I ordered the exterior windows, it was easy. I did it in an hour and that saved me a couple hundred dollars. So that was good I think it was the price and the value that was really good."

"I was a little concerned with my choice here as I knew Apple Door as a garage door company with a good reputation. They did my original garage door 25 years ago and I did use them for service. I was shocked at the price of replacement French Patio doors but price was high due to the sizes that I had, thus they had to be custom built. I priced out many companies for this, some were more and some much less expensive. I got to go to their showroom and see what they were proposing and quickly realized it was by far the best value of the many competitors, so I went with them. The arrived on time and did a great job with the installation, these guys actually take personal pride in the instalation and spent more time than what anyone expected but made sure it was right the first time. They even cleaned the glass like it was being prepared for a home show or special event. I would not hesitate recommending this company to anyone looking at door. My only wish is that they did windows, because that would have made a decision easy on replacing windows. <br />"

"I have used Terry for several years to do all types of home improvement. He remodeled my moms bathroom , my master bathroom, built new cabinets, installed new floors, crown molding, wainscoting, fixed and repaired drywall, painted my interior of my house and this is only the inside. He replaced my gutters, exterior doors, damaged hardy boards, dry rotted wood, and installed a new deck on the exterior. He is a jack of all trades and does great, quality work."

"Great. Chuck is a super friendly and professional guy. He was able to work around my schedule and was "in and out" in no time. The job I had was relatively simple, but Chuck knew exactly what to do. He built my new screen and showed me how to install and remove it, since a little customization was required for this particular window (i.e. "old"). Super happy with SCREENMOBILE and can highly recommend them. A definite A+."

"Fabulous. I wish you had higher marks than an A. I believe their work is definitely an A++. Bill Maslink provided an outstanding experience from contract to conclusion. Scott Messe, job manager literally provided day to day communication, scheduling and solutions. we never felt insecure in abilities of trades -plumbers, electricians, carpenters, cabinet makers, etc. Each trade arrived on the scheduled day ttimely, did their work plus cleaned up afterward, And, Scott met them at the house before, during or immediately after. He also got the job done a week earlier than expected. We are retired professionals having relocated several times during our careers. We interviewed a handful of contractors but none checked all our boxes. Homelike did! With our experience in building and/or remodeling a total of seven homes, we knew what to look for in a contractor. Homelink ranks #1 in all aspects. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Ashland, VA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
