"<p>Overall, this was a very good experience.</p> <p>We needed to have some plumbing work done in our master bathroom, so decided to have the countertop replaced at the same time.  This led to having them all done so they would be consistent throughout the house.</p> <p>We stopped at their location locally, and were met by Ashley.  She was very professional and helpful.  It was difficult to pick out a color from a small sample but she helped us make our choice.  They were cooperative in working with us to have the work done in two steps because we needed to have two countertop installed, but the third removed,  plumbing work done, then have them come back to install that countertop.  They charged us $150 for the second step, but we understood the costs involved to them so we paid it.</p> <p>They sent us a picture of the slab and it looked too pink to me.  So I went back to their location and got confirmation it was ok.  Ashley was patient and supportive.  </p> <p>Mike, the lead installer, and his helper were very efficient and timely.  If they were running late, Mike would call us.  On the second installation, he called twice to let us know what was happening.  This is so rare with installers!  He provided great service.</p> <p>There were only two items we wish were different: </p> <p>(1)  There was a 1/4 inch gap between the right side of one counter and the wall.  This was the only bathroom where the countertop had to fit between two walls.  The gap occurred because the wall was not square.   The gentleman who did the measurement must have known this when he was here, but we did not realize there was this issue until the countertop was in.   It was explained that it is in our contract that gaps are possible, but we did not figure the gap would be that large.  I think we should have been told that there was a potential issue and work with us on a potential solution.  If a solution was not possible, then at least we would know.  This is the only reason the Quality rated a B.  The material itself is great and the other two bathrooms are beautiful.</p> <p>(2)  We specifically asked for afternoon appointments, and it seemed that all we were offered were mornings.  </p> <p>Except for the one gap, the countertops look great!  We have a solution we are working on to make the gap less obvious.</p> <p><br /></p> <p><br /></p> <br />"

"We picked out the granite that we wanted from a large display. The staff was able to answer all our many questions. We worked with Kelly on all the pricing, scheduling and details of the job. The man who came to the house to measure and layout the counter tops was thorough and professional. The scheduling for the install was right on time and the installation was accomplished perfectly. Vance and his installers took great pains to insure that we were satisfied with the work prior to them leaving. An additional piece of granite was cut and installed later the same day. <br /> The backsplash was custom designed and installed beautifully. The installer was a subcontractor. Horacio of Kelly General Services was very easy to work with and asked for our thoughts throughout the project. <br /> The end result is that we were very happy with our experience with Chattanooga Granite. <br /> and oh by the way, they company that claims that they Rock was not impressive at all. We had talked with several companies prior to selecting Chattanooga Granite. <br /> <br /> <br />"

"It did not go well, I had to get someone else to come and do the job. They did not complete what I requested. They had come before to do a walk through but it was still not taken care of. When I called the day after, he did come back and look at it and acknowledge that it had not been taken care of but he was very concerned about paying the men extra money to come back out and do it, so it was not cleared up. There was a small area where he put some dirt in and I paid $30 for that."

"That particular company had been getting a bad rep before we used them. We went ahead and used them and it was not an insurance claim and they did an excellent job. They're competitive and very comparable to everybody else in our area. They're not any more expensive, they're not any less. They do a really good job, what they promise to do, they do."

"<p>Did work as quickly as the weather would allow.  Kept us up to date with emails and pictures.  We live 300 miles away from where he did the work, but we felt like we knew exactly what was going on and how things were progressing.  </p> <p>We were installing a steel work building and because the weather was so bad, they shipped the materials before the pad could be poured.  Eddy and his crew came and helped us unload the building.  I don't know what I would have done if he hadn't helped me.</p> <p>He and his crew even stayed until 5:00 am to do the finishing work on the concrete because the weather was cold and the concrete couldn't set up.  If the weather had been warm, he could have finished before dark the night before.  </p> <p>Helped layout the driveway and pad even before we accepted his bid.    </p> <p>He met with us to follow up and made sure his work was good.  When it comes to concrete he knows what his is doing.</p> <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Athens, TN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
