Small jobs welcome

"They did a really good job and they stand behind their work. The prices are competitive and they take pride in their work. I had a really old front door that was not insulated and they put in a new one with plenty of insulation. They also put in a new storm door and a garage side door that meant making a new doorway that's sealed properly. They answered all my questions and were respectful of the property"

"Jody quickly contacted me and asked for photos of the roof. He was so awesome he offered to use shingles he had in stock for free. He also noticed shingles on our garage had been ripped of also. He repaired those too!! EXCELLENT SERVICE!!! Jody didn't try to nickel and dime me for every little repair. Jody also performed a roof inspection and made recommendations to ensure the home's is properly maintained."

"They sent about 15 workers and 8 hours later we have a brand roof! They were very professional, covered my flowers and landscaping before doing the job, went through the yard after with a magnet to do all the cleaning up of the left over parts and nails. They were very careful with the job overall and did an amazing job."

"This was our first experience using Elysium to complete both
interior and exterior painting and repair work. Initially we had only
contracted them to do work on the exterior, being satisfied with the level of
detail and the likability of the crew that we worked with, we opted to sign on
for additional work on the interior of our house.
Exterior: Being new homeowners we wanted to make sure that we were being thorough and getting
the most longevity out of the work that we were investing in. The estimator
that Elysium sent out was very knowledgeable and pointed out failures in the
existing paint job as well as several wood repairs that several other
estimators had failed to recognize.
There were areas of rotten wood concealed by paint, the estimator did
what she called a ?pen? test and took her ink pen and was able to push it
through the fascia boards on our chimney with no effort. This happened on
several areas of the house that other contractors had failed to discover or
address in their estimates. With the discovery of so much carpentry work
needed, we did see a significant increase in the estimate in terms of cost, in
order to have the longest lasting and best-finished product possible the wood
needed to be replaced, had we not received an estimate from Elysium we may have
not discovered the rotten wood until after another contractor had cut corners
in order to give us a lower price point to close the sale. The work itself was
done thoroughly, prep to finish. Between the color change, board replacement
and concise prep and finish work that Elysium did on our place, it looks like a
brand new house.
Interior:
Since we were so pleased with the result of the
work being done on our exterior, we had Kevin and his crew complete additional
work on the interior of our home. The tacky wallpaper that had been in our
kitchen when we moved in needed to go. I was going to attempt to remedy its
existence myself; after several hours off attempting to remove the wallpaper
myself I decided to let the professionals handle it.  Underneath the wallpaper the drywall needed to be repaired
in several areas. Elysium was able to smooth out the wall underneath and apply
a fresh coat of paint. They also painted our 2-story foyer and hallways. Elysium completed a lot of work on our house, and it was a
job well done. I would recommend them for any paint project you?ve got!

"It was perfect. I hired Roger because I trusted him. His company did work for me in 2013 and I was very pleased then. I am even more pleased now! I thought I needed to replace the siding all the way around my house (it's 40 years old). A neighbor painted his and, while it looked okay, the painting was so expensive that I thought I'd see if there was an in-between solution. Roger said he could replace just the south side (first and second floor) and match the existing front and back. I got home tonight and the work is PERFECT. The south side (attached garage on lower level, my office and a bedroom on upper level) have new siding that perfectly matches the 40-year-old stuff AND everything looks new. They did a wonderful job sealing up everything tightly and I couldn't be more pleased. Roger visited this house twice to look at the work as the job specs changed (I kept asking questions and I had some brick work done in between). He was on time, charged a fair price, and confirmed last week that he would be here today. I didn't call or expect a call yesterday, and I had an early appointment at a client's place this morning. Roger called me first thing to say his crew was at my house and he was heading over to check on things. We talked about the job and he informed me that my office window had some messy caulk - he cleaned it up and made sure it was sealed tight for winter. I would hire this company to do any sort of remodeling work and I'm thrilled."

FAQs for wood stairs and railings repair projects in Atlas, MI

Hiring a pro to refinish wooden stairs means labor makes up 20% to 30% of your total budget. That price covers sanding, staining, and sealing each step. In most cases, a certified refinisher can tackle a 10-step staircase in about two hours, then apply stain and sealant for a durable, eye-catching finish that stands up to daily traffic.

A pro can sand a standard 10-step staircase in roughly two hours, then needs another four to six hours for each coat of stain and sealant to dry. DIYers should budget up to a week for sanding, staining, and sealing in stages. With a crew on site, the bulk of the work is completed in a single day, minimizing disruptions while still achieving a high-quality finish.

It’s possible to refinish stairs without full-scale sanding by using chemical strippers, power buffers, or simply layering a fresh finish over the existing coat. Chemical strippers break down old stains and sealants, while buffers quickly shave off surface material. Even so, a quick hand-sand with fine-grit paper helps the new finish bond properly and look smooth. As always, suit up in protective gear and follow product directions to keep your wood—and yourself—safe.

For most stair projects, you’ll want two sandpaper grits. Begin with 80- to 120-grit to strip the old finish and even out rough spots, then move to 150- to 220-grit for a smooth, ready-for-stain surface. A power sander speeds up the coarse pass, but switches to hand sanding with the fine grit in corners and along edges to keep abrasion even and give stain or sealer something to grab onto.
