"Overall, Tim Hogan's delivered once again. There were a couple hiccups in communication as the tile installer wasn't properly equipped to remove the existing hardwood in the location, then when the wood installers did remove it trying to work over each other. Outside of that, the crews did a great job again. This was our second purchase with Tim Hogan's, and we'll likely be using them again once we replace the rest of the flooring."

"Very pleased. We had been given an estimate that was too low by error. The owner honored the contract and when we offered to half the difference, wanted to honor original contract. Came when supposed to, with crew and materials ready to work. Owner worked with them throughout the day. We were easily able to contact him with questions and the finished job is very well done. He also told us what to avoid and how to maintain the surface. We have hired him to return and seal the surface, after it has cured, in the spring and this should last 3 years before needed again."

"Donnie was quick responding to my initial call and came over to give us an estimate on 1 area of the house along with showing us several pictures of the work he's done.  After the estimate we decided to get a price on 2 other areas in the front.  Donnie was great, he came out and gave us a price to do all 3 areas which is what we did.  Our home is mostly brick with 3 areas surrounding windows that were sided and unsightly.  Donnie installed Arkansas fieldstone in those areas thus enhancing the entire look of the front of our home.  The work was done in 2 days and the crew were friendly and kept eveything cleaned up.  Donnie was on site to personally see that the final product looked perfect which it does.  We've received several compliments already!  We would strongly recommend Donnie Gross for any stonework."

"They are the best! BardenStone kept me in the loop for the entire process and were very responsive with emails and texts. They cut the stone in a way that utilized the natural patterns the best and also were artful in cutting the backsplash to match the countertops. Everything was EXACTLY as planned with no surprises. Installation was flawless and on time. Their showroom and selections were the best in town and easiest to view. Taking a sample of my flooring, wallpaper, and cabinet made it easier to decide. I recommend them to all my Memphis friends in search of granite. I found them through another friend of mine that had used Barden Stone multiple times and was thrilled with every installation. <br />"

"Co. was a little slow to respond to my inquiry. When they did it was courteous and professional. Agreement on price and description of work was easy to reach. Start date was delayed 3-4 days due to problems with current jobs. Estimated time to do was 2-3 days. Actual time to do was 5 days. Salesman underestimated time to do by a day. Also due to spreading crews it took an additional day. Crews were courteous and skilled in all cases. Lead man was pulled on fourth day due to problems with other jobs. That made me nervous but remainder of crew did good job of finishing. Salesman (Lynn) did good job of keeping me informed. Found one spot with no stone in it after we had done walkaround. Not bad out of 6000 stones. Delivery/pickup driver fit a stone into the blank hole. Pick up of excess materials (and there were not many; the materials were estimated well) was prompt. Clean-up of entire site was very good.Company name in process of changing to Memphis Stone and Stucco. A+ BBB rating with no complaints."

"We live in Lakeland, which means that our yard, like that of many others in this zip code, is marshy most of the time.  We had contacted people in the past who said they wouldn't touch our problem, but Matthew assured us that he could make it so that we could actually walk in and use our yard.  He proposed installing a French drain over 100 feet in length to catch the majority of the water that naturally runs into our yard from yards "upstream."  Then he brought in a dump truck load of good dirt and graded the back of our property more naturally toward the creek at the back.  He used red sand on the existing Bermuda and laid zoysia sod along the back of our property.  He also installed a new sprinkler system (see note below) to replace the "dead" one. <br /> Matthew and his crew were knowledgable about things from top to bottom.  Our sprinkler system (I know...not needed in a marsh, but it's handy in the summer when it DOES actually dry up!) needed a new control panel, and Josh knew just what to do.  Along the way, we discovered that the outlet the panel was plugged into was bad, and they replaced that as well.  Matthew had to cut through the curb to bring the drain out to the street, and he took care of all the permissions with the city.  Every time there was an issue with a sprinkler head after that, or a washout of rock, or a, "Hey, can you swing by and take a look at this?"--Matthew was right there, always smiling, cheerful, loving what he does.  And he does it WELL.  We can actually WALK and PLAY in the yard without worrying about sinking and ruining our shoes!  THANK YOU!  :)  (And thank you from my five-year-old, who had a BALL watching the Bobcat and dump trucks this summer!)  :) <br />"

"He is a sub-contractor. He built a sea wall for me down at the lake and it was really good. Now he does contract work and gets houses ready. He has quite a few guys that work for him that are very good. He is very conscientious and likes things done exactly how he thinks it should be done and will make them redo it if they need to. He is very particular with his work. The foreman who worked with us was the same. They did very good work. He is very impressive and I would highly recommend them to others. It cost $100,000 for that work. He had to take down trees and he put them all back and re-landscaped whatever he moved and saved all the plants. He built little stone walls and he and the crew were very neat, clean and conscientious workers. The crew that came out was about 3 or 4 guys, but now he has about several more crew members."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Atoka, TN

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
