"My wife and I wanted to change out 20 year old white tile kitchen countertops and backsplash. We read reviews from Angie’s List and other sites for various sites. AA Marble & Grant had top-notch reviews and we decided to check them out. They did an excellent job with providing their showroom with numerous granite, marble and quartz slabs. Phillip was very helpful, knowledgeable and easy to work with. We provided rough diagrams and measurements in advance using their PDF file. We ended up selecting a granite top from Brazil and were very pleased in the color and stone quality. The pricing for material and installation was fair and reasonable. The contract agreement was a bit lengthy, but manageable and we paid a deposit of 1/2 the cost. AA scheduled a person to come by the house and perform measurements for the countertops and cutouts for sink and cooktop. We also were changing the kitchen island top and a butler section top. We had our white tile backsplash removed a couple of days before the templates were measure. After the template measurements were made we went back to AA to look at the slab with template pieces to see how it would look. Once settled on cutout templates, we scheduled an installation date. It took a couple of weeks to get an install date with the Thanksgiving Holiday coming up. Phillip at AA did a good job of calling with reminders before the install date. The installers were in time for the date and schedule given. They did an excellent job installing the granite tops and smoothing and blending the seam where two large pieces came together. We got an under mount sink which was cut in advance. The faucet and soap dispenser holes were cut on site. The gas cooktop section was cut on site. Nice job in measuring, cutting, smoothing out edges. A couple of minor nicks were made on Sheetrock while installing in a very tight spot. (These were spackled and repainted within a couple of days). We are very pleased with AA Marble & Grant from beginning to end. The granite countertops are beautiful. We hired Mauricio Campos recommended by AA to do prep work on disconnecting the cooktop and sink plumbing and reconnect after the countertops were installed. Campos also installed the new backsplash tile and did outstanding work. I highly recommend AA Marble & Grant for quality countertops."

"Charlie is wonderful to work with. He patiently listened to my explanation of prior landscaping work which had not been successful (we have had sod installed twice only to have it die) then assured me that he could install sod which would, in fact, be healthy ten years later. <br /> When the lawn went into it's dormant phase during the colder part of this past winter, Charlie stopped by to assure me that this was a normal part of the zoysia life cycle and that the lawn would "green up" when the weather became warmer. It has really gotten green again since the beginning of April and I've been very pleased with the end product. <br /> Charlie talked to me about a couple of design options and I finally asked him to do whatever he thought would look best. His creative, curvy intermingling of flower beds and sod looks wonderful. <br /> I appreciated Charlie respecting my need to stay within a specific budget - a budget which was probably a lot smaller than most of his jobs. Instead of treating me like a "small job", it quickly became apparent that he gave my yard a great deal of thought, planning, and preparation. The end result has far exceeded my expectations. <br /> Charlie and his crew arrived on time, were respectful and courteous, and worked quickly, completing my job in less than a day. When done, the crew got out their lawn blowers and got rid of all evidence of their work. When they left, I realized that they had transformed my lot from a neglected-looking yard to a professionally-landscaped-looking space! <br /> Most of all, I appreciate Charlie's patience with my questions. He has always been prompt to return my calls and thorough with his answers. <br /> I am confident that my yard is in good hands with R and R Landscaping. Yours will be too! <br />"

"The project went great! He acquired the materials needed did not mark them up and was very punctual about getting the job done! He did his best to be accommodating of my busy schedule and was willing to meet me early to make sure we both understood the job at hand. Upon completion, he was very fair and firm with the prices quoted and the money paid and to me as a business owner that means a lot!"

"They started in November 2011 and they finished up at the end of the year. It was still a little rough and they finished that off and on. They finished on time and had 95% of it done by the end of the year. He took care of everything. I was out of town and couldn't handle any of it. He subbed out the air conditioning plus he has his own contractors, too. They were good but it wasn't cheap; we paid for it. My problem was that I wasn't here and I needed someone I could trust. We had been putting it off for ten years and we finally got it done and I didn't have to worry about it. He's sort of a stickler for doing it right and he made sure it was right. I hope I don't have use them again but I would use them again. I don't want to spend that kind of money again."

"Carl Ryberg was fantastic. Very reasonable. He was very conscientious about the work done. He could not start the job right away due to other pending work, but gave a reasonable timeframe as to when he could start and held to that. I have called him back several times for "spur of the moment" work, and he was able to work me in in a timely fashion. Would highly recommend him and I plan to use him again in the future. <br />"

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Auburn-university, AL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
