"1 They have a phone receptionist so you rarely have to leave a message. 2 Citizens threatened me with non-renewal once my policy expires in early September because their records showed my roof had less than 3 years of life left, so I was against a fairly tight deadline once I got financing arranged in early August. 3 They were able to come out for an estimate within a week of when I called, in mid-July. The representative arrived right on schedule and did a thorough examination of the house, as opposed to several other bidders who prepared their estimates from online aerial information. The in-person examination gave me a chance to point out idiosyncrasies & ask my many questions as I pointed out the areas of concern. 4 At that time I was still trying to arrange financing. The rep told me about the federal PACE loan program, of which I'd never heard. As it turned out, the bank process was so slow I would never get the loan in time, so I went through PACE. (NOTE: PACE is not for everyone. It's a fast process, you don't have to jump through endless hoops, it's competitive with private loans, but there are disadvantages. Research it carefully. It was a good deal for me personally.) 4 They were booked out 2-3 weeks, cutting it close, but said they'd try to fit me in between other bigger jobs, that a roof my size they could do in a day. They came in about a week after I chose them, and indeed got 95% of it done by sundown. They came back the next work day and finished. The supervisors & crew were fast & thorough, & were good about answering my interim questions. 5 Other than the tar & gasoline smell (which went away fast), there was hardly a trace of their having been there. 6 The price was not the lowest bid I got, it was just about middle, but Bange is one of the two most highly-rated roofers I saw on Angie's List who work through PACE. (The other one never returned my call so I didn't get a bid.) BUT their proposal listed a few things extra that lower-priced bidders were not going to do; for the timeliness & work performed I think the price was more than fair. 7 Although I know 20 times as much about flat roofs now as I did 2 months ago, I still don't know enough to judge the quality of their work, but they pulled a permit & the city inspector was there at least twice for in-progress inspections, then made a final inspection, so according to him they met or passed all FL Building Code & Miami-Dade standards, which is all I can ask for."

"We could not be happier with Cosmopolitan Construction and how they helped us throughout this entire project! They were patient, attentive and extremely involved in all aspects of the work. Unlike many General Contractors who simply "pass along" much of the work and responsibility to others, Cosmopolitan actually DOES most of the work and or manages very closely the sub contractors like plumbers and electricians and they assure everything is done according to code. <br /> <br /> Another aspect I enjoyed in dealing with Cosmopolitan Construction is that Gus, the owner takes full responsibility and is THE Person OF Contact" for the entire project. He is accessible and responsible.  <br /> <br /> We also have to give this company kudos for going above and beyond the call of duty on more than one occasion! They went out of their way to make sure we were satisfied without constantly up charging us every step of the way.  They did a lot of extra little things for us during the course of the contract and renovation. In instances where we actually did modify the requirements we found them to be quite fair and reasonable in terms of delivery a quality result. <br /> <br /> It's hard to find company's like Cosmopolitan Construction! They turned our 1960's Florida cracker home into a real show place and we are very happy and pleased. Sure we ran into issues along they way but they solved them on our behalf.  <br /> <br /> I cannot begin to rave about how talented these guys are! They custom designed half our kitchen, raised our ceilings when others advised it was not possible. ALL their employees are just as kind and courteous as they can be and will do whatever it takes to make the customer satisfied. <br /> <br /> This company has my praise and gratitude for an excellent job and I would recommend you utilizing their services without hesitation. <br /> <br /> We would call them back in a heartbeat and without a second thought. We are happy to have such a responsible company and neighbor be of service to us."

"Matt's response was swift. He came and assessed the work that needed to be done and gave what we found to be a fair estimate. Shortly after returning to his office he called back to inform us that he would lower the price because he found that he had a dumpster available for the rubble. As it was a relatively small project he brought an additional worker. Before starting the demolition they searched along the perimeter of the concrete for the presence of lines or pipes. After ascertaining that it was clear they proceeded to cut the concrete into smaller blocks in a professional and efficient manner. No cracks were created in the concrete that remained . They cleared the area of all debris and left it looking nice and clean. They even graciously consented to remove some broken stepping stones that were in the backyard. We were very impressed with their workmanship and the cleanly cut edges of the concrete. Now the landscaper can proceed to putting in sod as there was no appreciable delay because of the quick response. We will have a backyard to be proud of."

"I contacted Mr Ibanez to do some landscaping and also to create added parking space on either side of our driveway. He was recommended by my neighbor and I am glad I had him do the work. He operates in a very professional manner and gets the job done. He did have to push back the start of the job because of another commitment but the lines of communication were always kept open. His workers were very skilled and courteous. They cleaned up after they were done each day so the yard would be presentable. He also coordinated the other contractors used on the job since we have a sprinkler system. I would definitely use him again and recommend his company for both pavers and general landscaping."

"I did not buy anything there; I just looked at marble samples. They had a huge warehouse. It does not look like a warehouse as it is so clean and their lobby is great. They were very professional. It was very clean. They have all their prices right on the marble, per square foot. They do not install they are a supplier totally, but if you get a company that does the installation they will supply their marble. They do marble and granite tiles. I do not know whether they sell to the public or not, as they are a supplier and whether you can go there yourself and buy something I do not know, it could be. I was there two months ago, when I was still dickering with another company and I could not find anything I liked so they sent me here. The public can walk in this place, you do not have to know anybody so it is a store I could say. The have a huge variety of samples. They have prices per square foot readily apparent."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Avon Park, FL

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
