"Pride paving was great to work with. Ezekiel helped with a bunch of our properties here in South OC and even went above and beyond the scope of work. I would highly recommend for commercial and residential property owners."

"**Wow! Jacob Hauling is an absolute gem among local landscapers!** After struggling with a DIY backyard for years, we finally decided to seek the expertise of a professional landscaper to transform our challenging sloped backyard. Our main goals were to level the last tier, install new fences and retaining walls. Among the two quotes we received, Jacob's pricing stood out as significantly more reasonable than the competitor's. Impressed with their offer, we promptly scheduled the project for the following week. From day one, Jacob and his team arrived with a fleet of impressive large trucks for debris and materials, accompanied by skilled workers who efficiently cleared away the 20-plus-year-old fences, logs, and other structures within the first 30 or 40 minutes. As the project unfolded, we were continually impressed by their craftsmanship, leading us to expand the scope of their work. Not only did the crew level and improve our entire backyard, but they also went above and beyond by building a stunning concrete planter box in the front of the house and a beautiful hardwood planter box on the sidewalk. Additionally, they took care of a small open plot, filling it with concrete to prevent future weed growth. Beyond their exceptional workmanship, Jacob and his team demonstrated remarkable customer service. They skillfully mediated with our neighbors to find a mutually satisfying fencing solution, and to our surprise, they generously hauled away log slabs from the neighbors' yard at no additional cost – a gesture of kindness that we deeply appreciated. Throughout the three-day project, the crew worked tirelessly from 7:30 am to 7 pm, displaying unwavering dedication and attention to detail. Their efficiency and quick turnaround were truly commendable. They flawlessly executed every aspect of the job, going the extra mile to rehang our string lights, which had been damaged by the neighbors' arbor crew the previous year. Words cannot adequately express our gratitude to Jacob and his entire crew for transforming our backyard into the oasis of our dreams. Without hesitation, I **highly recommend** this incredible team to anyone in need of landscaping services. Their professionalism, skill, and thoughtfulness are unparalleled, making Jacob Hauling an exceptional choice for any landscaping project."

"The job we did included a complete demolition of the backyard. Henry and his crew pushed back the retaining wall to give us more space. Rebuilt the wall. Added some dimension to the backyard by putting a raised area. Installed new pavers, patio, lighting, irrigation, and plants. Also, custom designed a fireplace to add as a focal feature. The entire project took a little over 3 months. Henry's crew was there everyday sometimes even on Saturday. The only delays was due to rain or city permits etc. The complete project surpasses any of our expectations. Even with the 3D drawings, it was hard to picture what it would look like with everything put together - down to the stucco color with pavers style, or concrete color with pavers color etc. It is clear that Henry knows exactly what he is doing and his experience shows. He was advising us the entire way taking into account our preferences and style. Henry even accompanied us to the nursery to pick out trees, shrubs and plants that would be complementary to the landscape while keeping in mind the maintainability especially with a pool in the backyard. The project encountered some unknowns (every project does) and Henry shows his experience through his responsiveness and extensive network of contractors. Even now after the project has been completed for a couple of months, if there is an issue, we can still call him and he will send over someone to take care of it. We would definitely hire him again."

"I usually don't use the cliche "we couldn't be happier," but we really couldn't be happier with our new paver driveway installed by Falkon. We solicited three bids from companies found on Angie's list. One estimate was really high. A second estimate seemed too good (low) to be true. Based on the Angie's List ratings, I expected Falkon to be about halfway between the two, but the Falkon was almost the same as the "too good to be true" estimate. After researching more and viewing the Falkon website which included past project photos, we selected Falkon for the project. Honestly, at first, I thought Val kind of rushed through the estimate/walkthrough, especially when compared to the experience I had with the other two contractors we spoke with. I'm not saying this to complain. I'm bringing this up to suggest that if you have a similar experience/feeling, don't let that scare you away. Val was always responsive to our needs throughout the decision-making process and the actual project. He never blew us off or made us feel like we were bothering him. Besides, what really counted was the execution of the project and the results. Both were outstanding. Val's crew appeared very experienced. They were punctual and professional. The progress they made each day was phenomenal. We have a pretty large driveway - approximately 1200 square feet with some curving on the borders. Day 1 - Demolished and removed/hauled away old asphalt driveway. Graded soil. Day 2 - Placed underlayments and compacted/graded again Day 3 - Placed all pavers - except for border. Day 4 - Placed bordering pavers and cut inner pavers meeting the border. We requested angled pattern requiring more (and angled) cuts. (By the way, we love the angled paver pattern. Worth the extra effort and cost.) Day. 5 - Filled in gaps between pavers. (about half day). Day 6 - Originally planned, but not needed because everything was completed on Day 5. We highly recommend Falkon Construction for any paver project you are considering."

"Removed all the dead grass and expanded the planting areas, kept one small area of grass since the cats do eat grass once in a while, the two small walls created a nice accent in the back end of the yard and split the hilly part of the yard and we use these small walls to place succulent planters.  The steps make it easy to navigate this hilly part. <br /> two trees were planted one was a semi dwarf orange tree and the other one was a mesquite tree, which requires very little water, gravel was placed where  there was no grass and slate stepping stones create a nice pathway. <br /> The job took about two weeks, we were told 3 weeks, but it actually only took two.  The workers were all very polite and came every day at the same time.  Overall we are really happy with the job <br /> We hired Seth because he seemed to understand what we wanted was able to make suggestions that we adopted, listened to our concerns and wants and the price was very reasonable"

"The job went smoothly.  The work area was well protected and cleaned afterword.  The quality of the work was EXCELLENT.  When it comes to working with natural stone, artistry is extremely important, it's not just technical skill.  Be sure to ask for Jaime.  He is a master at his craft!  If we didn't tell you where the breaks were you wouldn't know.  Simply amazing what he was able to do."

"Pricing is right in there with everybody else that is licensed, bonded and everything. Everything that most people complain about with contractors, like taking your money and never showing up or not getting done on time, He did everything on time. No big overruns, no lateness. It was a well managed job."

"I highly recommend Cavalier Builders, Inc. They just remodeled our kitchen while we remained living in our house. Cavalier’s crew removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen, took the floor down to the floor boards, re-arranged all the utilities/appliances, replaced/resized the window, installed a tankless water heater, installed new lighting, brought everything up to code, pulled all the permits and so much more. We now have a brand-new kitchen, pantry and dining room. David’s crew always showed up on time, were professional, and always left our home neat and livable. He always returned my messages quickly and always answered any questions we had during the construction process. Cavalier Builders finished the entire job on schedule without any problems or concerns. The best part was how nice David was along with his entire crew. I will definitely use them the next time we need this kind of work done."

FAQs for gravel or loose fill paving install, spread or scrape projects in Azusa, CA

To calculate how much pea gravel you need for your project, multiply the length, width, and depth of the area you want to cover to find the volume in cubic feet. Then, divide that number by 27 to convert it to cubic yards to determine the amount of pea gravel you need.

A yard of pea gravel weighs about 1.3 tons or 2,600 pounds. Keep in mind that wet gravel weighs more than dry, and different types of gravel can vary in weight. For example, due to its density, river rock weighs significantly more than crushed stone and pea gravel.

The ideal depth for pea gravel depends on the type and size of your project. You'll need at least two to three inches for walkways and patios and a minimum of six inches for driveways to support heavy vehicles and prevent shifting over time. Aim for a depth of three to four inches in decorative garden beds or drainage areas.

Pea gravel is attractive, versatile, and low-maintenance. It provides excellent drainage, making it ideal for pathways, driveways, and garden beds. On the downside, its sharp texture isn't ideal for bare feet, and it can be challenging to weed or remove once installed. It can also shift underfoot without proper edging, creating an uneven surface.

Alternative landscaping materials you can use instead of pea gravel include wood chips, decomposed granite, crushed stone, pebbles, quartz, mulch, sand, and river rock. These materials offer different aesthetics, performance, and costs, so it’s important to do your research to determine which one best fits your landscape design and budget.

Many homeowners choose pea gravel because it requires minimal upkeep compared to other landscaping materials. You'll need to rake it occasionally to redistribute the stones and maintain an even surface. Pros also recommend installing weed barrier fabric beneath the gravel to prevent unwanted growth, although some weeds may still appear over time.
