"Our 20+ year old deck needed to be replaced. What we envisioned was a deck that had more area, wrap-around steps, access to our above-ground pool, and – because of short distance to the ground - the clean look of no railings. Also we wanted poles installed for our sun shade sail. From start to finish our experience with G & S Fence and Deck was a good one. Drake was our point-of-contact for the project; he did the estimate and was very receptive to our ideas. The work was begun in a timely fashion with Greg in charge of the build team. There were challenges and they were overcome, resulting in a deck we are very happy with. Our thanks to the entire G & S team!"

"We bought whole house, double-hung Window World windows two <br /> years ago.   <br /> 1) The purchase process was tense as there were several unexpected extra charges such as the one to remove the original, steel-frame windows. It is, in my opinion, a bogus extra charge because the frames were easily removed. One small slice with a small saw, one jerk on the frame and it was out. Cannot imagine another type of frame being easier to remove.  <br /> 2) Be very careful if ordering double-hung windows that they are installed in such a way that they can be locked, especially larger windows. It takes careful installation to get them in exactly the right position to make the locking mechanism work.   <br /> 3) Customer service is handled locally (as compared to where the windows are manufactured ? Akron, Ohio or at the franchise headquarters in NC) and it is awful. I called to make sure the special windows we paid extra for were, indeed, installed and were installed in the correct windows. The ?support staff? acted as if I were a big nuisance to request this information. Their records were not in a condition that they could tell me how to determine if the windows were installed in the correct location. It took a call with the male owner, who was greatly annoyed with me, and a visit to our house by his wife to ascertain that the windows were installed correctly. While dealing with them on this issue, the company attitude was that I was being unreasonable to request this information, even though these two windows looked exactly the same but had different "extras" associated with them (UV protection and thermal protection.  <br /> As far as I can tell the windows themselves are fine. After a year-and-a-half, there is one window with two small spots of rust and a small area with corrosion. I hate to think about having to call them to get these corrected should that become necessary. <br /> The installers were great - took great care to not step on plants, to replace or repair loose stucco that came out with the old windows, to remove all debris. The primary installer left his phone number and came back the next day to respond to a few minor issues of window adjustments and missing caulk. They were great to deal with, unlike the owners. <br />"

"I could not be happier with the work that was done. Have used this company several times in the past. They are honest, always on time, and charge a fair price. I wouldn't use anyone else for siding or roofing repair or installation."

"Hand scraped bamboo flooring was installed in the living room and stairs of our prior home. 18 inch tiles including the needed sub flooring were placed in the kitchen. Jared and his crew did a great job, were timely and professional, and were very responsive. Additionally, the price was fair for the quality of work produced and we have since rehired to repair the deck on a recently purchased home."

"Joe Zubrisky (sp) always gives a very fair estimate  and date of planned work.  He is thorough and neat and clean and does an excellent job.  Typically, he does not take full payment until you are completely satisfied with the work.  We are always very satisfied and continue to use his services over and over again for various jobs."

FAQs for deck, fence, patio or porch clean and seal projects in Bainbridge, GA

You should clean your deck before sealing it. Cleaning before refinishing is critical. If you don’t remove dirt and debris, you'll trap moisture in the wood, which prevents the new sealer from working correctly and can lead to costly repairs. Whether you need to sand, power wash, or sandblast depends on your deck's condition.

Sealing and staining your deck are essential maintenance methods that protect and beautify your outdoor space. Stain adds rich color and guards against fading, while sealant fortifies the wood against moisture and weather damage. Wood type, climate, deck age, and the degree of existing damage determine whether your deck benefits from one or both treatments. Using both options extends your deck’s durability and enhances its overall appearance.

Power washing and sealing your deck costs $500 to $1,700. This process combines the removal of stubborn dirt and debris with a protective seal that preserves the wood’s integrity. Effective cleaning eliminates harmful buildup, and a proper seal prevents moisture damage and wood decay, ensuring long-term durability and reducing future repair expenses.

Your deck must be sealed every one to three years to maintain its strength and appearance. Regular sealing is essential to protect the wood against moisture, mold, and harmful UV rays. A consistent sealing schedule prevents rapid deterioration and costly repairs. Inspections should be performed annually to determine if the protective layer remains intact, extending the life of your deck.

Leaving your deck untreated compromises its structural integrity and safety. An unprotected deck rots quickly due to moisture and environmental exposure, which means that neglecting sealing results in rapid decay and expensive replacement costs of $4,125 to $11,650. Sealing your deck is essential for maintaining its durability and protecting your home.

The sealant on your deck dries within a few hours and reaches full cure within 72 hours before regular use. It is essential to wait until the complete curing period to ensure the protective layer fully sets and resists weather and foot traffic. Proper drying guarantees that your deck is fully protected against moisture and environmental damage, ensuring lasting quality.
