Crew from Kicking Ash did superb job of evaluation, diagnosing problem, explaining everything clearly and providing detailed information on solution. They were polite, friendly, professional and competent. They replaced the chimney liner, fixed damper, insulated as needed and secured new liner and completed repairs on chimney on roof. Very complete and each step explained. While I really appreciated their competence and expertise, what was even more important to me was their honesty, commitment to quality work, high standards and comprehensiveness of services. This was the best service I have ever had through an Angie’s List service, I would strongly support their service and urge working with them."

"We had used Soots Me for chimney work many years ago and when we bought a new house this summer that required chimney work, my first thought was to contact Soots Me again.  It took a day or two to hear back from Steve but once we did, an appointment was set to see what needed to be done, an estimate was received soon after and we scheduled the work.  The work required was to take more than one day and we did have a weather delay put us back a couple of days.  Steve made sure the chimney was well covered during the delay to prevent rain from leaking into the house.  I asked Steve if we should expect the main chimney to need sweeping in a year and after asking about our burning habits (frequently), he explained that given the particulars of our chimney (we have a very large fireplace/flue) he didn't think we would need to do it.  He said to call him to come take a look and if it didn't need to be done, he'd tells us to call him in another year.  We will not hesitate to contact Soots Me again for any chimney work we need. <br />"

"The installers did a great job. We had a snow/ice storm hit the day of the install and they stuck through it and managed to get everything installed. They encountered some challenges due to how the original chimney had been built which required opening up the side wall, but they came back a week later and fixed it like new. I will certainly use New Buck again for the basement stove when I get ready for that project."

"By the time I called SOS, it was full on fireplace season, so my appointment was scheduled within 2 weeks. The technicians were very courteous (they even greeted and petted my dog when they went outside to inspect my chimney) and were incredibly detailed. They took extra care to make sure they did not get any dirt on my carpet and gave me instuctions as to how to care for my fireplace; I am a first time homeowner so this was extremely helpful. My fireplace does not have a door or screen on it, so they explained the importance of that, gave me some places to go where I could get a door at a reasonable price, and even measured the gap for me to let me know what size I needed to get. After inspection, they showed me their report and recommended that I get a power wash and a sealant due to some mortor issues on my fireplace. The quote was for about $450 and urged me to get this service done before it got too cold and they couldn't use the power washer. The next thing I know, I recieve a phone call informing me that SOS would be out to power wash and seal my fireplace the next week. Being this close to Christmas, and the fact that I just bought a house, I could not invest that kind of money into my fireplace and called SOS to inform them. They were very understanding and informed me that the next opportunity to do this would be spring, I said I would call them in the spring, but I felt a little more comfortable getting a second opinion on the chimney, as there were a lot of things on my "Spring Repair" list that I considered more urgent than my chimney. I would definitely use them again for chimney service and repair, but was a touch uneasy with the way the additional repairs portion was handled. I will err on the side that it was a miscommunication, because I have not recieved any follow ups or presurring phone calls to have the power wash completed."

"THEY DID A GREAT JOB ON THE INSTALL, HOWEVER I HAD TO CALL THEM MANY TIMES TO GET A DATE ON THEIR SCHEDULE FOR THE INSTALL, (AS THEY WAITED FOR THE UNIT TO COME IN ON ORDER). OVERALL GOOD PEOPLE TO DEAL WITH, BUT VERY BUSY AND A BIT SLOW IN SCHEDULING."

There were very few items to resolve from the replacement and they were taken care of quickly. Shortly before the roof replacement, Rescue Roof replaced the masonry on the chimney and sealed the brickwork. All the work done was done well. I highly recommend Rescue Roof."
