"Quackers was the 2nd vendor to review the problem. The first vendor proposed a much more expensive solution. Quacker's saw that I did not have a sump pump in my sump pit so they proposed that this be the first step to fix the problem which so far is working. He also advised me to run new drainage tile away from foundation near where the water entered the basement."

"First the problem was identified. I thought I had only 1 crack, but I was only seeing the "relief" crack. The big crack in the foundation was hidden behind wood paneling. The work was done to fix the cracks & provide proper foundation drainage. Because the main crack was around part of the basement window casing, at my request, they replaced the window. Also @ my request, they replaced my sump pump (which was about 20 years old). The work was very professional. They were prompt, thorough, very neat; the work was done in about 2 & 1/2 days.  Everything was explained to me. The added work was my idea, not something even brought up or "pushed" by the company. When the problem was identified, all possible solutions were discussed. I was very pleased with the work done. It has been a year and a half since the work was completed, and my basement is dry, the cracks remain sealed, and I have a very nice looking new basement window. <br />"

"I had a sump pump installed (fall 2022), along with drainage channels and a moisture barrier in one of corner of my basement. The sump pump has a battery backup system too. Install was done very professionally. They worked with me to finance the project through a 0% loan which was a nice feature. There was an issue in spring of 2023. They came promptly, diagnosed a bad pump and replaced free of charge. Recently the pump alarm kept going off intermittently. Got a repair tech scheduled to come out same week. He found a issue with how the alarm was placed and replaced that part. Both times that I had issues, thetechs were very knowledgeable and informed me further about how the system works. I would highly recommend this company for water issues."

"My wife and I recently completed a full home renovation that took roughly 7 months. During that 7 months, we never saw any indication of water issues in our basement. However, the first weeks after we moved in, we had a decent amount of water coming in via what was determined to be hydro-static pressure beneath our basement slab. We were referred to Atlas Foundation Solutions by a friend who has used their services previously. I called their main office and Kim was very friendly and knowledgeable about these issues. She scheduled Mike (the owner) to come by and give me a free estimate. Mike came out on time and as scheduled. We received 4 bids and Mike was one of the only guys who actually took the time to do some detective work prior to proposing a solution. He looked at our drainage around the house, the grading of our yard and the condition of our foundation in our basement. He quickly located two foundation cracks and noticed that the topography of our neighborhood is sloping down towards our home. Mike proposed that we install interior drainage pipe and a sump pump to relieve the hydro-static pressure that was pushing water from under our slab and into our basement and epoxy inject the foundation cracks that were noticed. This was the obvious solution; however, Mike was the only one who suggested that only two walls would need the drainage pipe, not all four walls as everyone else suggested. He took the time to explain why and it all made sense. Not only did Mike do an in-depth look around the home/yard, but his bid was very fair. Even after reaching out to other companies, their prices could not match Atlas' bid. We were happy to schedule the work with Atlas and again, Kim was great. We were put on the schedule a few weeks out, received a reminder/confirmation a few days before our scheduled dates and an entire crew was on site at 8:00 am. I believe there was a crew of 6 guys there on the first day, ready to work - I was impressed. The crew got right to work and did not stop. They were very friendly, clean, hard working and even finished a full day ahead of schedule. Not only was the crew great to work with, but they also fixed a few additional cracks in the foundation that were noticed when they arrived. I was shocked. The crew surface patched one small crack and epoxy injected another crack FOR NO ADDITIONAL COST!!! Overall, I was very impressed with Atlas Foundation Solutions and I have and would recommend them to anyone looking for these types of solutions. We are reaching one month of the work being completed and our basement is 100% dry. After a few heavy rains, the sump pump is working like a charm and there seems to be no water/dampness in our basement any longer. We are so happy to have the problem resolved. Thank you, Atlas!"

"We experienced water and other stuff coming out of a clogged drain in our basement so I contacted A&J Drain Service based on Angie's List recommendations. I called at around 6:45 AM leaving a message and received a call back before 7 AM to set up the appointment. I was originally told they would be there by 11 AM and at 9:40 AM I received a call from Justin with A&J telling me he could come over at that time. He arrived by 10:10 AM and the drain was cleared out front by 10:45. Justin was very professional and quick in performing the service. He spent time after running water down the drain to make sure that it was resolved. The bill was only $110.00 with the Angie's List coupon I have him, which I thought was very reasonable, compared to other prices I read charged with other companies for a similar service (most others were >$200). I would definitely use them again and recommend them to others."

FAQs for basement drainage channels installation projects in Barnhart, MO

Expect a well-built French drain to last 30 to 40 years. By channeling both surface- and ground-water away from your foundation, the system relieves hydrostatic pressure and helps prevent costly structural damage. Choose a pipe with a quality cloth filter to keep sediment out and extend the drain’s life. A quick annual inspection and routine cleanouts will keep water flowing freely, ensuring the system continues to protect your home for years to come.

Most French drains sit two feet below grade, but depth ultimately depends on the problem you’re solving. For puddling rainwater or snowmelt, a shallow curtain drain at lawn level often does the trick. To handle rising groundwater, pros dig deeper, down to the footing, and run the pipe beneath the basement slab. A drainage contractor will determine the optimal depth for your specific soil conditions and water issues.

A properly installed interior French drain captures water at the slab, channels it to a sump pit, and directs it safely outside, preventing basement floods before they occur. Because the pipe sits just under the floor edge, a plumber can reach it easily for cleaning or repairs. Pairing the drain with a reliable sump pump gives you the best long-term protection.

Hire a contractor who installs drainage systems every day—typically a foundation specialist, drainage contractor, experienced landscaper, or plumber with waterproofing experience. These pros understand slope, soil, and local codes, and they have the equipment to trench safely around utilities. Ask for references and photos of recent jobs to be sure they can design a system that keeps water off your foundation for decades.

Once the drain is in, patch the yard by reseeding bare spots or replacing plants the crew removed. Inside, look for ways to add value—finishing the basement or upgrading interior waterproofing while the space is open often costs less now than later. Schedule a quick annual checkup to flush sediment and confirm the pipe and sump pump are clear. Consistent maintenance ensures the drain functions properly and protects your investment.

Most policies don’t cover the cost of repairing a French drain itself, but they may provide coverage for water damage if the system fails. Coverage varies by insurer, so be sure to read the fine print or contact your agent before any issues arise. If you live in a high-risk flood zone, consider a separate flood policy to close the gap. Knowing your coverage in advance helps you budget for repairs and avoid unexpected costs.
