"HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Josh quickly found the source of a window leak that other specialists missed. This saved replacing flashing and windows in an attempt to stop the water leak. He also expertly replaced the inside trim around my window. It looks just like it should. I'm very grateful for the ways Josh went above and beyond. Josh seems to be doing what he does Best, being a secretary is not that, have patients and follow up. It's woth the effort."

"Great job, on time and on budget. Paul (the owner) provided a quote for exterior rolling shutters, and was onsite on the day of installation. The workmanship is fantastic. Highly recommended."

"They were awesome. We had hail damage. They are amazing. The storm was in July, 2016. He came out in the beginning of August to do the initial check of my house. He talked to my insurance company. He was very good with the insurance people in getting my house fixed. It took a while to get done because in Colorado, you can't do some things in the winter. On good days, they would come out and work on repairs.  He subcontracted this stuff out because he looked for people who could do the job at a reasonable price. He is not one of those people that will hire just anybody. He makes sure that the job gets done and people want to work. He called when something came up. He came out to check. He was amazing. He was very informative, very professional and very responsive. I didn't have to deal with a lot of stuff like shady people and insurance scams. He took care of the insurance company and everything else. They were always on time. If they couldn't make it because of weather, you got notification. He would call in advance on the scheduled day, like two hours ahead, so I could get my dogs out of the yard."

"Ryan Bernhardt, the owner, is extremely professional and detail oriented....from his written proposal to the actual work performed.  He removed and cleaned all screens as well as the inside and outside surfaces of my windows and sliding glass doors, including tracks.  He was very careful when working inside my home, even removing his shoes!  This is the first time that I've used Ryan, and he will be the only window cleaner that I will use in Gunnison."

"Grant and his team did a great job.  Reece and Justin were the two who did the actual install/repair/re-installation of the flooring with Grant's oversight.  Grant was punctual with his timing on his estimate and the actual cost was what was agreed upon for the job. Reece and Justin did a terrific job with the actual installation and went above and beyond in many facets to make sure that the work was satisfactory based on our desires.  There were a few unexpected challenges during the job and rather than take the easy way out and just try to "make it work" they took the time to do it right the first time.  Justin and Reece's craftsmanship was top notch with regard to the installation of the laminate floor with good attention to detail so that the seams looked appropriate and the lines were straight.  Overall we are very pleased with the work and would recommend Good Hands to all of our friends and neighbors."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Basalt, CO

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
