"Two By Four Construction did an excellent job designing and building the front porch that my wife and I always wanted. The crew showed up as promised and were prepared. They kept the worksite clean and safe. Gary kept us up-to-date on the work and deliveries. that he had scheduled. The quality of the work was well beyond our expectations. I would highly recommend Two By Four Construction LLC."

"Positives: The design work was great. We spoke with several kitchen companies before deciding to go with VKB, and Joe, the designer we worked with, put the most effort into hearing what our goals were and creating a creative plan for us. He was knowledgeable and helpful, and had a good eye to notice things that we hadn’t considered. He also offered helpful suggestions regarding cabinets, countertops, paint colors, etc. We were happy with the finished product. Negatives: The biggest issue we encountered was a lack of communication. We discussed various issues with the designer, but these frequently were not communicated to the actual workers doing the job. For instance, when the workers showed up on the first day, they didn’t actually have the plans for what was being done with the kitchen, and we had to explain the job to them. Joe offered to add lighting inside our closet, and we contacted him and said to go ahead and do it, but that information was not communicated to the workers until it was really too late, so it was never done. Sometimes it was 48 hours before we would hear back from Joe when we contacted him with a question during the process of the remodel. Because a lot can happen in two work days, this was sometimes problematic. The second issue we encountered was that when speaking about the project beforehand, words like “plumber” and “electrician” were used, but no plumbers or electricians were actually employed; general contractors did all the work. As a result, we felt uneasy about the quality of the work that was being done. For instance, the evening after our sink was hooked up, it came disconnected while we were using it, with the result that water was spewing all over our under-sink cabinet until my husband reconnected everything properly. Additionally, the cabinet seal on our dishwasher was installed backwards so that the rubber flap was sticking out. (They fixed this upon request.) Issues like these make us feel uneasy, and we weren’t confident that the work we couldn’t see or notice right away was done right. We wish that an actual plumber had been hired to do the work, as we had expected, or at least that it had been clear up front that this would be the case. Finally, we felt that the workers who were actually doing the job were sometimes careless toward our home. For instance, they piled tools and trash on our back patio, but in the process knocked over a plant and crushed flowers in our flower bed. They got paint smudges on a wooden shelving unit in the kitchen while painting. Similarly, certain details of the job were missed until we pointed them out. The finished product came out well, but we aren’t sure it would have if we had not been carefully supervising. (For instance, they forgot to run an electrical line for the oven until we reminded them, and a different faucet than we had selected was installed. These issues were always corrected once we pointed them out, but we were surprised that mistakes like this were made.)"

"Travis was extremely pleasant to work with, always kept in touch to work out timing for the operation, which turned out to be tricky because of this summer frequent downpours. <br /> The removal phase was easy at first, then became very teious in some area. He persisted. <br /> .After a week or more of dry weather, we had a downpour of 3/4 inch of rain on the eve of the scheduled first day for the application of the finish. I was very nervous about the timing, but he assured me it would be okay, guarateed his work for one year and did start by the sunniest area. The next day, he was 3 hours  late because of a personal emergency but did contact me to let me know. He then proceeded to finish the job (by brushing it when his sprater quit). <br /> Knowing and having Travis on the premises was a very good experience. He really tried to satisfy his customer, going as far as helping solve unrelated issues. <br /> I would definitely call on him again. <br />"

"One of the most responsive and flexible contractors I've ever dealt with. Promptly returned my phone calls and performed lightning fast turnaround (within 1.5 days of visit/assessment). This could have been even quicker, but I encouraged George to take his time! With very reasonable ($ 85 for an upgrade package), prompt turnaround and the specialization in this field (not many in this field) - would not hesitate to hire again or recommend for similar projects. George also has nearly 15 year's experience in the window/door industry, and is familiar with many of the major brands. You will be pleased!!"

"Very well. Robert explained the work they would do and he coordinated tile, plumbing and countertop replacement. We had an early 80's kitchen that needed help but we didn't want a major renovation. They updated our cabinets with new, larger doors, painted the frames, added soft-close hinges, and constructed a new cabinet to replace a built-in desk. New backsplash, granite countertops, and hardware. Their work was a superb value and we're pleased with our new "bright" kitchen!"

"Nelson finished our basement in 2013 and we were very pleased with his work, so we contacted him to build our deck.  As we expected, he was prompt to respond and his estimate was reasonable.  We were very fortunate that he was able to build our deck much sooner than we expected.  <br /> The deck turned out better than we could have ever hoped.  Nelson did a first-rate job in creating a stable, functional and attractive deck, even going beyond what was required by code. <br /> Nelson is a reliable, friendly and experienced builder whom I will always contact first with any sort of remodeling/construction project.  <br /> <br />"

"I would give the subcontractor who built and completed my deck an "A". The subcontractor and his team arrived each day promptly to the job each day.  If they had any feedback, they will leave a note.  They had ensured that the installed deck had completed the county inspection.   The subcontractor who had built the small patio, I would give him a B-.  There were some quality issues. <br />   Now, for the Powerhouse Remodeling Company, I would give them a "C-".  They were very attentive when they were consulting about the deck.  Once the financing agreement was approved and signed, this was the last time I heard from them.  I thought I would hear from the company owner to ensure I was happy with his company.  Unfortunately, no response from this company. <br />"

FAQs for sunroom or patio enclosure building service projects in Bealeton, VA

A sunroom is a fully enclosed space with walls of windows or glass. It allows you to enjoy the outdoors from the comfort of the indoors, protected from bugs and weather. It functions as an additional room in your home. A covered patio extends your home's roof over an outdoor area, providing shade and shelter while remaining open to the fresh air. It's a great way to enjoy outdoor living while being protected from sun and rain.

Adding screens to your porch is the most budget-friendly way to enclose it. Screening keeps out insects and debris while letting you enjoy the breeze and outdoor ambiance. It's less expensive than installing full walls or glass enclosures and doesn't usually require permits, making it an efficient way to upgrade your porch.

If you're transforming your porch into a fully enclosed living space like a sunroom, you'll likely need a sturdy foundation, such as a reinforced concrete slab, to support the structure. For a simple screened-in porch, you might be able to use the existing floor and support posts without additional foundation work. It's best to consult a professional to determine what's needed for your project.

An enclosed porch can be considered a living space if it's fully enclosed with solid walls and windows, has a proper roof, and includes heating and cooling systems. It should also have direct access from inside your home. When these criteria are met, the space becomes an extension of your home's livable area.
