There’s a bit of improvement to be left in the dirt/dust area, though. It’s my only gripe. I did have to run my shop vac through furniture & other materials throughout two floors affected. Again- we did have rain beforehand, but we did provide a clear clean driveway access to minimize dirt entry into our home. On to more important matters… It rained for 4+ days about 7 days after our install. We’d normally get about 200- 500 gallons of water in our finished basement during such a storm. We got zero water puddles above ground during the storm!!! I did panic because no water made its way to the sump pump well, while we got a few wet spots on the above-ground area. These “wet spots” were just damp areas in the concrete. They weren’t puddles of water. I panicked & sent messages to our salesperson. He forwarded to management. They sent out their most experienced foreman who determined the the system was working (after testing & showing me a live result with a water hose pumping water through the area of concern). The verdict: concrete takes 30 days to fully cure. The spots haven’t cured yet! I was so relieved!!! The system works! My days of torture in the basement are over! My instincts to go with the salesperson were right!!! "I moved into my house about two years ago and would get floods in my basement during every storm. I tried to fix it myself environmentally, but failed in my attempts. I then decided to finally fix the problem and get my basement waterproofed. Being relatively new to Delaware, I put in a request to get free estimates. I had a few companies come out to look at it and narrowed my choices down. I was down to Basement Waterproofing Specialists (BWS) and Basement Gurus. The difference was the representative from Basement Gurus had a more natural approach and took the time to ask numerous questions, as the other representatives asked little to no questions. The Basement Gurus representative suggested to fix internally AND externally, plus they even added a lateral system in my basement. No other company felt to even thought of a lateral systems or external drainage, or to even ask about it. I could not speak more highly of the representative and his team at Basement Gurus, they took the time to explain every step and the process before and during the installation to keep me involved with what was going on. The crew was extremely polite and respectful of my house, they were very efficient and they "did not play games" for lack of a better word. lol The very next day we had heavy rains, which I was excited to test out my waterproofing system! During and after it rained there was not even a single drop of water in my basement or laundry room. The representative even had his team remove and replace all of the studs that had become moldy and also put in new mold resistant drywall. "It took longer than expected because more problems were found, but the work was done very competently and the workers were very nice to deal with. We had to replace a bathtub and do additional tile and sheet rock work and they were able to do all that, so we didn't have to call in additional help. "When we moved into this old Victorian we didn't realize we would have a problem with water showing up in our basement every time we had a big rain.
I called A-1 and another company to consult on the problem.  They, of course, were very familiar with this problem and recommended a french drain system into a sump with appropriate pumps to send the water outside.  The salesman (Bob) did a great job of explaining what they would be doing, the materials, and their knowledge of working on old houses.
Because of the vintage of the house (1901) it's a little tricky installing the french drain; normally you put the drain right at the base of the foundation wall; because the foundation in old houses are relatively fragile, you need to put the drain about a foot away from the wall and add a plastic liner to ensure water coming in at the base of the wall is channeled into the drain system.
I liked both company's proposals but decided to go with A-1.
Their crew (maybe 8-9 guys) showed up right on schedule to start 4-day job.  Initially, the foreman thought it might take 5 days but they were able to finish in 4.  I must tell you this was a huge, messy job BUT they did a great job of minimizing the impact on our house.  They helped us consolidate all of our stuff in the center of the basement, built a plastic barrier to protect it, then went to work.
They outlined the location of the drain line and the sump, then began jack-hammering which lasted two days (no napping in our house during that time).  They broke up the basement floor to dig the trench; that left a huge amount of debris to haul out, one 5-gallon bucket at a time.  They lined the trench with the appropriate fabric, then drain rock, then installed the drain pipe. They dug the sump and installed the 2 sump pumps and connected the whole interior system. They drilled through the wall to get the pump output line outside and trenched the line about 40 feet into the yard where they dug a dry well.
Then the finish work: mixing concrete and covering over the drain pipe in the basement. When they finished it was almost as though they hadn't been there. The basement looked as good as before; the yard (and our new landscaping) was undisturbed.
What I especially liked was the things they did to go over and above--things I wouldn't have thought to ask about: they removed a couple of brick columns along the wall that were leftover from now removed waste lines; they added two access drain lines tied into the main system for things like a dehumidifier.
I am very satisfied with all of their work--I definitely got my money's worth. So far, we have a dry basement.
