"smoothly so the "look" would not be obtrusive.  Justin's two guys who did all the work and laid the new tile floor were always on time, and their work ethic was impeccable.  I was amazed that they would come in their morning with the thermos bottle of coffee, take a break to eat cold sandwiches for lunch and never leave the job until around 5:30 or 6:00 PM when work had to be shut down for the next stage of the job.  That kind of work ethic is something you do not see much of anymore, and is so much appreciated by the customer.  <br /> <br /> The cutting and laying of the tile was so professional and well done and their was zero waste of tile- in fact 3/4's of one box of tiles were left over.  And the installation of the grout, grout sealer, 1/4 round molding, and re-installation of the appliances was done without any additional scratching of walls or moldings was amazing.  This was a major job that spanned several days because of the Black Mold mitigation, drying, new base material under the tile, laying of new tile, grout installation, grout sealer, appliance replacement, etc., and everything had to be done in steps.  <br /> <br /> Justin, and his employee's are the most professional, hard working, knowledgeable, nice to be around folks you will ever invite into your house to do work.  This was a very trying project which required days of my Wife & I to eat out all of the time while the job was being worked, and Justin, Cody, and Nick were very understanding throughout the entire process.  Their isn't enough adjectives to describe the absolutely superb job they did.  And, if you need to contact me about any questions you might have please call me at [removed], and I will be glad to answer any questions you might have.  [Member name removed]"

"All subs lined up and complete as expected.  The work is beautifully done.  The new addition ties in perfectly with the existing structure.  The job site was kept clean and organized from the point of trees fallen to prepare for the slab through job completion. Mr. King was available at all times and responded promptly to my questions. Sub work was reviewed and approved at every stage.  I was kept informed of progress and next in line events around the construction.  I didn't go into this job without first doing my homework.  I interviewed 4 builders and took detail bids from 3 and one high level bid.  Mr. King won the job based on his bid, knowledge and his professionalism.  Price wise he was right in the mix.  I hired Jack King because he was easy to work with, met with me about my needs, provided drawings of what he thought would satisfy my ask, reviewed the plan and partnered with me on this.  Along the way I had a couple of changes and those were embraced with a positive, can do attitude.  This was simple.  So simple that I added more items; parking pad, sidewalk, new screen door, sod and flower beds.  He came highly recommended by individuals currently living in homes he built. I would hire him again without hesitation for a new home or remodel."

"We bought an older home and had toilet backup issues just a few weeks after moving in. I called 3 "A" rated plumbers on Angie's List. Jack was very reasonably priced when compared to the other two I contacted (one of those companies wanted $370/hr on the weekend). Jack spent a 1/2 day trying to clear obstructions from the downstairs toilet -- he pulled out cotton shop towels, masking tape and other items likely left by remodelers hired by the previous owner. He also pulled tree roots out which was a bad sign. Unable to clear the blockage, he brought a crew back on Monday to trace the line using an electronic device. Since the line didn't have cleanouts, it's wasn't apparent how the line went from the house to the street. Jack brought an excavator and proceeded to take out the old line (which was packed full) and clear blockages both to the house and from the curb to the street. He installed new PVC pipe with 3 cleanouts. I'm thankful that we were able to connect to existing pipe and didn't have to tear up the new patio. Jack and his crew are a hard workers - spending 11+ hours on this job. He had given me a quote prior to doing the work and actually gave a significant discount since he didn't have to dig as deep as originally thought (4 ft. vs. 7 ft). I would trust him to do any work I have in the future and he will be the first one I call."

"This job was started in early December and was not completed until February.  The fir-down removal and new cabinet supports were done in a single day, but the cabinet door and drawer fabrication were not completed until February.  When it was completed, it was done with low quality materials.  The spacing is off between cabinet drawers/doors, the drawer sits crooked, and the slides just feel cheap.  Robert did do a pretty decent job matching the wood and stain and I do appreciate that matching new wood to older wood is a difficult task; however, the new materials just weren't of the same quality as the existing materials and the    <br /> <br />"

"Foundation Pro came out and assessed the issue, explained to me what was needed to correct the problem and provided a quote to repair the brick wall, patio and sidewalk. Their pricing was very competitive and they provided a great warranty. The work they performed exceeded all my expectations and it corrected my problems. The owner (Brent) was very knowledgeable and was very attentive to the work being done. I would highly recommend this company. Update: Four years after the work was done, I had a very tiny crack show up in my brick that was unrelated to the previous work done. I contacted Brent at Foundation Pro, he was very responsive and came to my house to inspect the problem. After his evaluation, he offered to repair the mortar crack at no charge and file it under warranty even though it was not really related to his previous work. It is hard to find people and or businesses like this nowadays. I highly recommend Foundation Pro."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Benton, AR

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
