"John and Matt did an excellent job doing several jobs around our newly purchased home. They installed a medicine cabinet, mounted a tv on the wall. Also set up 3 closets. I will definitely be using them for future work. I highly recommend Monthly Upkeep for all of your needs."

"It was great. He's a hard worker. Does a good job on time and performs the work agreed on. He also is good at communicating with when he is coming. We'll be recommending him to our friends and family. He is defiantly a good choice to hire if you want a handyman."

"This is a top notch company. We were so happy with James Gilchrist. He finished our fence exactly by the date that we NEEDED it. Other companies would have put us on their schedule 4-6 weeks out. Great company! I highly recommend them!"

"Fairview Home Improvement has been our go-to home improvement company since the early 90's. We have had siding, doors, roofing and most recently windows installed. The things that has always stood out is their high level of integrity and service after the sale. If there is ever a problem they will work to get resolution. They have never suggested replacement of something if the service wasn't needed. We have gone back to them for smaller projects over the years which they were just as happy to do as the larger ones. I have mostly worked with with Bob Dutton over the years who has always been very responsive and easy to work with. Although they use contractors for services performed, the work has always been done to a high standard, and I have never had to go back and clean up afterward."

"Excellent! Dietmar (the European Handyman) is kind, prompt, detail-oriented, knowledgeable, and HONEST. He's been my go-to handyman for about ten years now, both when I lived in Westlake and now in my Lakewood home. There's a reason that the term "European craftsmanship" exists, and Dietmar delivers just that. I don't think there's a finer handyman-craftsman in town than Dietmar."

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Berea, OH

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
