"they're a great company and the men that came out to work, came on time and worked hard the time they were there, and they did a great job. My only suggestion would be when you have your electrical rewired they have to put holes in your walls to allow them to put new wiring in and I mean a lot of holes everywhere! Anywhere you have a outlet, light switch, up and down your walls. If they used a round 3" or 4"drill and kept the plugs their customer would be able to repair the walls so much easier than them cutting random hole sizes and shapes in the walls. just a suggestion to make your clients love you all the more."

"First let me say I was very pleased with the tech they sent, Jeff. He came down all the way from Dana Point, and still managed to be on time! He was right on task and quick to diagnose the problem and then made the fastest trip to Home Depot in the history of contractor trips to HD. Quickly made the exchange and double checked to make sure that it was actually repaired! I think the whole thing took 1-1&1/2 hours! My tenants were very pleased! My husband could never have done it so quickly, which automatically made it worth every penny! My only regret is that I didn't make better use of the time I had left on the two hour deal... My fault for not thinking ahead. I was thrown off at first by his looking no older than about 17-18 years old.. Shame on me! He was he was knowledgeable, professional and friendly. More so than most other workers I've ever had work on our rentals! He even picked up a spare breaker, at my husbands request, which, was the only charge, beyond the initiial "big deal" cost. A not so whopping $10. Thanks Jeff! & Michael Dove Electrical!"

"Impressed with Luis & team. First installed new outlets for a TV, moved an outlet, installed outdoor lights, then upgraded my electric panel. Each time great work, very reliable, and I know it’s fairly priced."

They arrived on time and ready to work.  Be prepared for the up-sell.  I was already interested in upgrading to LED lights however the original upsell of $85 per light was way too high.  When I told the project manager, Tom, that was too much money, he called the office and got the "authorization" to offer at $65 which I accepted.  (Note:  conversation not in English, which I personally think is rude).  4 LED recessed lights for $455 was competitive when compared to other service providers on Angie's List.  There were a total of 3 electricians who went right to work to install the lights and they were very efficient in completing the job.

The install of the additional GFCI outlets was more problematic.  I had one existing outlet at the center of my bathroom vanity wall.  I told Tom that I wanted that outlet eliminated so that I can patch and paint over it and 2 new outlets to be added, 1 at each corner of the vanity.  Tom did not verify with me the exact location where I wanted outlets placed.  Because of this, additional holes in my drywall wall were made.  I want to note that Tom seemed upset that I did not take his advice to keep outlets where his original holes were made.  This attitude seemed to be reflected in his subsequent work as he did not use the nice rectangular cut-out used for outlets, but instead hammered opened large drywall holes from first location.  These extra holes ended up costing me an additional $50 in drywall repairs.

Since there was no vanity light installed at this time, (in middle of remodel), Tom asked me if I wanted the lines for the vanity light "capped-off", (sorry, not sure if correct electrical term).  I said yes and told him I wanted to patch and paint over the vanity light lines.  I asked him how I could do that with the large metal plate he had just placed and he got a hammer and slammed metal plate into the drywall and said "there you go".  After the work was completed, I found out from my plaster guy that it is a violation of code to patch over "capped-off" electrical lines.  I was amazed that a licensed electrician did not know or think to tell me that. My perception was that they were more interested in the up-sell and getting out as quick as possible.

I stopped payment on my check and requested a different electrician from Gils' Electric to come out to look at the work.  His team followed the lines and told me the lines to this outlet run with the kitchen outlets and additional work including kitchen drywall demo would need to be done at an additional charge.in order to resolve.  I chose to leave outlet as is at this time as I cannot afford the additional expense.  I did ask that they deduct from the invoice the $25 fee I incurred when I stopped check payment pending resolution.  He called office, (once again, conversation not in English), which refused.  He said if he did allow, it would come out of his paycheck, (really? come on!).  ( I paid invoice minus $25).

What I have learned:  There are a lot of electricians out there.  If you don't like their attitude, even after buying a Great Deal, send them on their way and look for somebody else.  And make sure you write a review so you can help fellow consumers like myself!

FAQs for electrical switches, outlets & fixtures install or repair projects in Big Bear City, CA

Wiring conversions for relocating outlets require upgrading the existing wiring to the correct amperage before installing the new outlet. This step ensures that the circuit safely supports the outlet's power demand. Engaging a professional guarantees that the alterations meet current electrical standards, thereby ensuring a safe and efficient installation overall.

Installing an outlet can be completed in 30 minutes, but professionals charge a minimum labor fee covering one to two hours of work. This fee accounts for travel, setup, and any extra tasks that may be required during the installation process. Bundling additional services with the installation can lead to overall cost savings while upholding stringent safety standards.
