Small jobs welcome

"They did a really good job and they stand behind their work. The prices are competitive and they take pride in their work. I had a really old front door that was not insulated and they put in a new one with plenty of insulation. They also put in a new storm door and a garage side door that meant making a new doorway that's sealed properly. They answered all my questions and were respectful of the property"

"They were very responsive. Installation schedule was faster than I expected (and faster than they quoted). Installation was smooth and took a couple hours. Normal with new garage doors they replaced the door, the springs and the track. My only observation - the clean-up could have been better as there were pieces of debris missed. I would use them again and recommend their work."

"The job went well. There did not appear to be any problems with the installation of the garage door. When the job was complete, the installer went through all the details for the proper maintenance and use of the garage door."

"Great company to deal with. Totally customer focused. My wife was not comfortable with me installing our security system myself, so internet based alarm companies were a no go. I contacted our existing company, Vector, Vivant, ADT & 1st Security. I met with all of the reps. Jeremy from 1st Security came to our home right away to conduct a detailed security assessment. He listened to our needs and our concerns with our existing landline based security system (through Vector), and he designed an effective yet practical and affordable set up for our home. Their prices cannot be beat- trust me I did my homework. Larry came to install the new security system and he was also great to deal with. Knowledgeable and patient- he took his time to explain how the system worked and gave us his cell # in case we had any issues. Kudos to 1st Security USA! Great folks doing business the way it should be done- honest and professional. I will be spreading the word"

"Great. So well that we hired them again to replace all the windows and entry door of our new home. You will not be disappointed with WindowPro service/installation, and you cannot go wrong with Marvin Integrity Fiberglass Windows."

"Extremely happy with the work they did. Very reliable. Installed 4 doors for us. Two exterior doors and two storm doors I will be recommending them to anyone i know that needs a project like this done. The cost was the same as what a family friend quoted. Five stars all the way."

"Our experience with Kotch's was fabulous, start to finish. We have a very large home and replaced every window as well as the siding and gutters. We are extremely happy with everything, from the quality of the products to the installation and final look. Mike was exceptional to work with. He is very knowledgable about all options, took his time to explain everything, to make sure we were confident with our choices, and frequently checked in to make sure things were going well with the teams doing the job. He easily accommodated to a few scheduling needs on our end as well as a big request that made a large portion of work easier on us. The window guys were the best! It's not easy having strangers in your home all day for a week, but these gentlemen were as friendly and as unobtrusive as they could be, and completely cleaned up every trace of work each evening before leaving. The new windows are fabulous, and Mike's suggestions to the exterior trim were perfect; the exterior work looks wonderful as well. We have no complaints, it was a job very, very well done. Thank you so much Mike!"

FAQs for storm door installation projects in Bloomfield Hills, MI

For mobile homes, look for a lightweight storm door designed specifically for manufactured housing. A slimmer frame eases installation and reduces added stress on the doorway, while removable glass or screen panels allow you to switch between airflow and complete protection in minutes. The result is solid weather defense without unnecessary weight and a door that remains easy to operate season after season.

A well-installed and well-maintained storm door can add modest value by improving curb appeal, increasing security, and reducing energy loss. If the door is faded, dented, or hanging loosely, those benefits disappear—and may even harm first impressions. Professional installation ensures the door seal is correctly aligned and keeps the hardware in place, allowing the upgrade to deliver both visual and practical benefits that buyers notice.

Most storm doors last 25 years, and high-end models, when properly cared for, can reach 50 years. Lifespan depends on the frame material, glass quality, and the amount of punishment the door receives from wind, rain, or sun. Regular cleaning, fresh weatherstripping, and prompt repairs keep hinges tight and glass secure, helping the door reach its maximum lifespan.

Allow three to five hours to set a standard pre-hung storm door if the opening is in good condition. If you need to widen the frame or repair wood rot, expect the job to take a whole day to complete. A seasoned installer can complete the job faster and ensure the door sits square, seals tightly, and operates smoothly, saving time that often outweighs the DIY time commitment.

Most single exterior doorways can accommodate a storm door, provided the frame dimensions match those of the new unit. Patio and sliding glass doors are the main exceptions because their tracks won’t support the extra door. If you’re unsure about clearances or hinge placement, consider bringing in a door installer to measure the opening and recommend any necessary adjustments for a secure fit.
