"Dennis and his assistant, Manuel were absolutely wonderful. Work was completed on time and is immaculate. They cleaned up after themselves daily and worked hard throughout the day. I am highly pleased with their work and work ethics. They were also friendly with my dogs. I felt totally comfortable being in my house with them alone, as a female. I will always look to them for future projects, I plan to call them for kitchen remodeling in the future."

"BHR is an excellent company. They show up on time and do an outstanding job every time. We have used them several times over the past 4 years and their work is always consistent and done according to my expectations. The owner stands behind his work. He comes in and works right along side his guys. His workers are polite and work hard. They come early and stay late. I would recommend them to others who need home repairs or renovations. I have never had any problems with their work. I will definitely use them again and I am already making plans for BHR to do some more remodeling for me in the near future. <br /> <br />"

"We were extremely pleased with the service.  Robert Hardy came within 24 hours of request to give estimate.  Explained what needed to be done and why.  Workmen came within a week's time and replaced/repaired/painted damaged section of roof,  Restored area looks great as shingles and paint matched house perfectly.  Work area left clean.  Would definitely use again. <br />"

"<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> I was impressed with Robert?s fast thinking, creative solutions to challenges that came up, and his ?I can fix that? attitude.  <br /> <br /> Robert has a wonderful crew that made the building process move smoothly and efficiently.  From the framers to the electrician to the stucco guys to his everyday crew, he had top quality people working for him.  I felt like my house was safe with his workers around even when I wasn?t.  Each person was friendly, respectful, and appropriate in their behavior and words. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> I was very pleased with the finished remodeling project!  I?m grateful for Robert's knowledge and expertise in giving us such a great room that we enjoy every day.  We're all incredibly thankful for the extra space in our cramped townhome, and for the support we received from RJS Alchemy in making our dreams turn into reality. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />"

"The initial quote is about $70000. They have great ideas, they have a very fast turnaround on design suggestions, they gave a reasonable quote but they were not the lowest bidder nor the highest, they specialize in remodeling which is why we went with them instead of the first quote who was a guy who specializes in building custom houses, so we felt more comfortable with him."

FAQs for basement remodeling projects in Blythe, GA

Finishing a basement turns unused square footage into livable space and returns up to 70% of what you spend when you sell your home. Beyond that resale boost, you gain a playroom, home office, or guest suite you can start enjoying right away. That mix of daily comfort and solid return on investment (ROI) makes basement finishing one of the smartest upgrades you can tackle.

In some parts of the country—especially lots on swamps, high water tables, or other wetlands—local codes prohibit basements. Saturated soil puts constant pressure on foundation walls and lets water seep in faster than any sump pump can handle.

If your property sits on waterlogged ground, building on a slab or crawl space is often safer, more affordable, and code-compliant.

Most basements wrap up in four to eight weeks. Framing takes three to five days, with electrical and plumbing rough-ins following over the next week. Add five days for drywall, two to three for flooring, and another week for paint, trim, and punch-list items.

Delays can happen if materials run late or your contractor’s calendar is packed, so build in a little cushion when you plan.

Whether a finished basement counts toward your home’s official square footage depends on local rules. Many areas only include below-grade space if it has code-approved egress, fully finished walls, ceilings, and floors, plus consistent heating.

Check with your local assessor or building department before you start; meeting those standards can affect taxes, appraisals, and resale value.

Building codes require a checklist: dedicated heat and electrical service, a code-approved stairway, and at least one egress window or exterior door. Walls, ceilings, and floors must be fully finished and meet insulation, ventilation, and fire-separation standards. If you add a bedroom, you’ll also need a closet, proper clearances, and safe exits. If you change the layout later, be ready to update the space so every new room still meets today’s code.
