"I hired Brownstone to install/replace an exterior door on the back of a rental property I own. They responded quickly with an estimate of the work. They scheduled the job and completed it much faster than the other contractors I got estimates from projected they could do."

"Avery Owens and his crew were professional, courteous, and kept me informed.  Because they had to work around my schedule and when I would be home, it took them about 4 days to finish all the work.  I was  very impressed with their skills and knowledge. They had to repaint the newly installed sheetrock and matched the wall paint perfectly.  They even informed me when termite larva was found- and this was after 2 termite inspectors found no evidence of termites the week before!  The prices for material and labor was very reasonable.   <br /> I had several different handymen come out to give me estimates.  One took over a week to decide that he didn't have the time to do the work.  Another took several days to give me an estimate.  Mr. Owens came out the day after I called to give me an estimate, took pictures of the area needing repairs, and had an estimate ready for me in 36 hours. The estimate price was very close to the actual price, despite there being additional repairs needed (more extensive water damage than expected). <br /> 100% satisfied.  I have been singing the praises of Mr. Owens to my coworkers, many who are also on Angie's list. <br />"

"He was extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. He answered all of my many questions. He was very frank with me and wanted to make sure I was happy with the work and the price. He charged his standard service fee and performed the work on the spot since it wasn't complicated and didn't require additional supplies that he didn't have in his truck. He was on time for the appointment, if not a few minutes early. When I first called him, I didn't get a return call for a week or so. He stated he had a lot of calls to go through after the storm and was attending to a sick friend. He does get a lot of clients. I would definitely recommend him for any roofing, window, or siding service. He was well recommended by a friend and I'm glad I went with him. He's a good guy."

"Columbia Electric referred Finishing Touch to me. The electrician accidentally slipped on a joist in the attic and put his knee through the ceiling on a Monday. It was not until the following Wednesday Finishing Touch was able to get a gentleman out to make the repair. Once I was on the schedule, he was right on time (both times). Although he patched it, he did not patch it far enough and a hairline crack still runs in the ceiling (see picture). I also had to request he mud over the whole patch as it left a dip when a straight edge was placed next to it. The one gentleman said that you usually have dips in patches. Frankly, you don't when you know what you are doing. While he was here I arranged with the owner, Russ, to do some sanding and mudding on the walls, which I had already begun (I wanted to save myself some time on the bathroom renovation). I had to request his return because he failed to sand some areas and never mudded others that he had sanded. He did not dispose of the waste from the patch repair, but laid the broken pieces of drywall on the carpeted floor at the top of the steps in a pile (about a buckets worth). Granted, there were some unused parts of drywall sheets, but I found this unprofessional. He used a drop cloth, but after sanding he also failed to vacuum/sweep the dust from sanding and left it for me to clean. Overall, I feel I was an inconvenience for Finishing Touch and they were forced into this job due to their relationship with my electrician, and the effort to get me out of the way greatly impacted the quality of their work. In fact, the second time they were here I was not aware they had left (I was on the back porch). I heard their vehicles start and they were gone."

"2012- Hall Bath renovation. Straightline did TOP quality work and we are VERY hard to please, let me assure you!  We were told by our pest company we had a bad leak and it was so bad that Straightline had to basically gut and totally renovate the entire hall bath and fix all the plumbing leaks and issues. They were extremely professional, always always showed up on time, and my property manager was so impressed with them that he uses them all the time now. We have been 100% satisfied by the quality on this work. <br /> 2014- Water heater being replaced. Another company gave us an estimate for DOUBLE what Straightline charged us. Straightline is HONEST, reliable, courteous, responsive, and takes time to explain everything in detail to us so that we know what is happening and what needs to be done. He is extremely professional. We trust him completely to allow him to come in while we are at work and work on these items. He had to disassemble the cabinet. He shut down the power, drained the waterheater (the old one) and disconnected the supply lines, and removed the old heater (and took for us to dispose of it).  He ran a new power supply from the waterheater to the panel box, hooked up the power, and wired in new 220 volt 30 amp breaker.  Installed a new water heater, and hooked up supplylines with new shut off valve, filled waterheater, checked for leaks, and hooked up T and P and ran through floor. <br /> 2015- We were having trouble at the rental house with circuit breakers going off and power going off. Marty came right away when we called and he very carefully and meticulously isolated each circuit with each appliance--a very time consuming task---and with 100% professionalism and attention to detail. We know that we are in good hands when we call Straightline!  He was able to discern that he would need to run its own new electrical line from the microwave and from the washing machine. So he scheduled with us to come out at our convenience and again, did the work plus he re-vented the dryer vents for us which had not been installed correctly in the beginning by the former builders or owners.  It is an older home and Marty has helped us to make this home SAFE and correct on all the circuits, GFI's, etc..he goes the extra mile and gets the job done well and in a quality manner, no nonsense. He is courteous and keeps his word on estimates. He cleans up after the jobs very well. <br />"

"Mr. Sine and David are the most professional painters I have ever met. After they finish painting it looks like an Artist has painted your walls. The walls are smooth with absolutely no streaks. Every nail hole is fixed unless you ask them not to. I will never let anyone else paint my house. Mr. Sine made sure my house was perfect before he left. His prices are very reasonable. If you want quality work, he is the one to call. Plus his personality is fantastic. He is honest and does what he says and more. I felt like I've known him my entire life. I will be calling him again soon to do my kitchen and cabinets."

"They moved all of the furniture, prepped the deck. Put two coats of stain on both the fence and the deck. We chose different stains for the fence and deck.  They did a fantastic job, made certain everything was covered and protected. They cleaned up at the end of every day...the end result was remarkable. Todd was there working with his crew and overseeing the project.  This was the second project we have used Todd Brazell for.  He had previously sealed our basement floor, which was a new construction.  These people are professional and very good at what they do.  Very conscientious about ensuring the job was done correctly. <br />"

"Dan did an excellent job cleaning and preparing our two story cedar siding house and garage for an oil-based stain. The house was way overdue for a paint job so there was a lot of peeling paint and splitting wood that needed to be addressed first. Dan took the time to properly scrape and sand the wood and caulk as necessary prior to staining. Both the house and garage look great. Dan works alone. Dan is a great painter and a really nice trustworthy and reliable painter. He is meticulous, neat, courteous and loves dogs. You won't regret hiring Dan."

"<p>From beginning (including bidding process) to end the experience was exceptional.  We have an unusual house line which needed  to be considered when developing the plan.  We also wanted the finished product to appear to have always been a part of the house and not an addition. In  looking for a provider, we needed someone that had a vision of what could be done (for we were not sure of all of our options) as well as the expertise to implement the vision.  After interviewing several (3) companies, Steven and Daniel Jones presented the best plan and implementation strategy. </p> <p>The team of workers--framers, brick masons, carpenters-were professional and took pride in their work. They were most courteous and worked hard from the time they arrived in the morning (8am) until it was time to leave (4:30-5:00) in the afternoon.  It was amazing to watch how meticulous each group was with their particular job.  Steven was on sight every day and made sure each team understood their task.  The work ethic of all involved with this project was phenomenal.  I was always kept in the loop and  always consulted on decisions that needed to be addressed-no matter how small.  No assumptions were made as to what we wanted. </p> <p>Steven is very detailed. Brick and mortar for the support columns needed to be matched as closely as possible to that of our 16 yr old house. That line of thinking would probably be fairly standard in seasoned builders.  However, he also took into consideration how the brick columns needed to be configured so that the "look" from the backyard to the deck and house was angularly pleasing AND complimented the angles of the roof line. Throughout the whole process, details such as this were being implemented. </p> <p>Steven and Daniel are good listeners and make sure they understand the wishes of their customers.  We had picked out a railing that we thought would be good. Material wise it was fine.  However, Steven picked up the reoccurring theme of how we wished to use our deck, and suggested style wise it may not be the best choice and explained why.  Had he not been listening to our vision when we were discussing our dream deck, we may have ended up with something not quite as we imagined.</p> <p>Due to the weather this summer, there were some days that work could not be done. However, to meet timelines or to make up time so they would not get behind, they would work a Saturday OR stay longer on good weather days.  I have pictures of them installing the wrought iron railing in the pouring rain.  As long as there was not thunder, work continued.  The work sight was cleaned up at the end of each day.  Supplies were stacked neatly. The port o potty was serviced weekly so there was never an offensive odor.  It all went incredibly smoothly.</p> <p><br /></p> <p>This was a pricey venture, however, their bid was inline with others and we did make a major change that did impact the price. Without a doubt, we got what we paid for. I know we were lucky to have had the experience we did and I would highly recommend Construction Specialties of Columbia. You need to at least include them when seeking estimates!  I know I am late in submitting this review.  I just needed a chunk of time for I wanted to do them justice.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /></p> <br />"
