"Very good experience. Bob did an excellent job - very meticulous, plus solved our problem with the screens. He even had us wait to pay him for the cleaning until he brought the repaired screens back the next day. <br /> I got 3 quotes and Big Sky Window Cleaning was the best price. <br /> I will definitely be a repeat customer. <br />"

"They arrived on time and were meticulous in their work. They used a lot of clean drop cloths to ensure there was no damage to furniture or carpets from possible drips. The windows were left sparkling and the screeens were clean. They even removed the dog door panel so that the sliding doors could be fully extended and that all surfaces could be washed. <br />"

"He did an excellent job and we were very happy with the solar screening which is not only cooling off the house, but giving the added protection of privacy from the neighbors.  We were concerned that it would be too dark, but from the inside, the visibility is still great. He was fast, efficient and a pleasure to work with!  I would highly recommend his service! <br />"

"This is the second time we have used Mobile Speed Screens.  The first time was last summer (2013) when another screen contractor I had contacted (whose address was only 3 blocks from our house) said he couldn't find a place to park and told us to call someone else.  So, I went back on Angie's List, found Mobile Speed Screens and called them.  Kelly answered immediately and came out the very same day.  He made 2 screens for our upstairs windows for a total cost of $75.  So, I didn't hesitate to call him again when I needed a new screen for our front door.  And, he is up-to-date technology-wise as he uses "Square" which allows him to accept credit cards on site. <br />"

"Craig came out to do the estimate. We chose to have a double pane window replaced in the bathroom and a new shower door installed. It was all done very quickly, smoothly and exactly as it was estimated by Craig and a helper. Pleasant people to work with and they try to please."

"First, I was very happy with the glass itself -- it was cut to the correct dimensions. The reason for the B grade is that I called ahead and the girl answering the phone must have been distracted and wasn't friendly or helpful. When I got to the store, I learned that they did not have same day service, so I would have to drive back (about 20 miles) the following Monday to pick up the pieces. It would have been very helpful to hear that when I called, although to be fair, I did not ask and confirm that I would get same day service. I also learned that I couldn't get an estimate on replacing an old shower door because although I had most of the dimensions, I didn't have the thickness of the current door. When I said that I wished I had known I should get that, the girl responded with quite an attitude along the lines of 'well, you didn't ask that.' The other girl working there was quite helpful. But the girl who was first point of contact (phone and then in person) should be way more customer friendly. Again - the glass was fine; it was the customer service of the receptionist that needs to be corrected. <br />"

FAQs for door or window screens install or repair projects in Borrego Springs, CA

Most off-the-shelf screens come in fixed sizes, ranging from 18 inches by 20 inches to 36 inches by 74 inches, which fit the vast majority of residential windows. If your opening falls outside that range or has a unique shape, you’ll need a custom screen built to the exact measurements. Going custom ensures a secure fit, a solid barrier against bugs, and a clean, finished look.

The decision to repair or replace your screen depends on the extent of the damage. Small holes or tears in otherwise solid mesh can be patched, and a sturdy frame usually doesn’t need to go anywhere. However, once the frame is bent or the mesh is brittle and fraying in several spots, replacement becomes a more sensible option—and often proves to be less costly in the long run. Take a close look at both parts before making a decision.

To rescreen a window, start by prying out the old spline, then lift the torn mesh from the frame. Lay the new screen over the frame, allowing about an inch of excess on all sides, and hold it in place while pressing fresh spline into the groove with a roller. Check that the mesh is taut—many pros rest a small brick on it while they work—then trim the overhang with a utility knife.

Most window screens last for 10 to 12 years. Time, sun, and weather gradually make the mesh brittle, so you’ll start to see sagging, rips, or thinning spots that let bugs get through. Check the screens each season; if the mesh crumbles or the frame warps, it’s time to replace them to keep air flowing and pests outside.

Most pros can swap out a screen in 10 minutes to an hour. A quick pop‑in replacement goes fastest, while fitting new mesh into an existing frame or working on a hard‑to‑reach upper window adds time. Either way, plan for at least a few extra minutes per screen so the installer can verify the fit and ensure the spline is seated correctly.
