"Had our roof replaced, looks like a clean install. Trey was easy to talk to and was very assuring. We'll see how the roof holds up against this weekend's snowstorm or whatever's coming our way. Yes I copy pasted my own review from Google Reviews."

"I needed to replace an old townhouse roof damaged by high winds. My experience with Roofing & More from my first contact with Marie was outstanding. Dwayne came a few days later and provided an estimate, complete explanation of roofing options and company polices, the insurance, license, pamphlets and documents. He also had a crew come out, the next morning, to put up some tarps. Angie keep me completely up-to-date on the project and scheduling, I was never left in the dark wondering about what was happening. Rob, Operations Manager, came out for a pre-construction meeting to explain exactly what and how the crew would perform the replacement, safety methods, home protection, cleanup and photo documentation during construction. On the day the work was performed the amazing hard working crew, led by Armando, worked as prescission drill team, continuously non-stop. They completely cleaned up all material that floated onto my neighbors areas. I did not find any debris that was overlooked. I was so impressed with Roofing & More that I have other projects for them."

"Home Fix installed new windows several years ago. As part of that they put aluminum siding on the bump out under my bay window. The windows are great and I was very happy with them, but I discovered last year that the siding was leaking into my kitchen and much of the wood had rotted. Jonathan at Home Fix stepped in and helped me to resolve this problem. The company sent a team of two men to build an entire new bump out. They did a great job and there was no cost to me. I appreciate that they honored their warranty without any debate."

"We had the roof on our 2640 square-foot house replaced with an architectural-style one in Williamsburg Slate, grey tones with subtle red tones. We are very satisfied with the roof. The guttering and fascia repair will be done soon. Emily Rinaldo, the HCR marketing rep. gave a thorough and lengthy (3 hours) presentation on every aspect of the roof. She is personable, professional, and knowledgeable. The well-manned roofing team arrived on the day stated and completed most of the roofing in one day. The roofers had been trained by HCR and were not day-laborers or sub-contractors. They returned early the next morning and completed their work in a couple hours. No unpleasant surprises here! The price below includes guttering and fascia. Financing is available."

"The contracted the work off to a third party. Jon took longer than expected. The windows was installed pretty good from the looks. Communication could have been better with knowing the job will take longer and what types of trims I wanted for the windows. As the contractor that was hired for this job by this company. Did a good job with putting up decent trim. As for the new windows they look great. I purchased the myself and hired sentri homes to install them. I will need to have a my siding on my house redone to be closer to the new windows so the gaps are not so obvious. That was not expected at first. But from old storm windows and not knowing how they were put in originally. There was some unknown things that was learned from the job being completed. I will have the siding of the house slightly done to match really good for what I wanted later on. My only concern is better communication with sentri homes. Overall they were great when I did talk to them."

"Great work! Ben supplied pictures of the work in progress and explained everything that was being done which showed the roof being pulled back to the "studs" and then how they put the new roof on. They also replaced the skylight at no additional cost. I will definitely recommend them in the future!"

"I hired this company based on reviews from Angie's list.  My experience was a bit different than the A + rating they had.  The answered my call for a quote and arrived on time.  The communicated in Spanish about everything.  We all walked the house together and I pointed out everything that needed painting.  We had a discussion about the master bath, the last words I heard George senior tell me was "we can fix this".  They quoted me a price of $3400.00 and said if I got everything done at once, he would take $200.00 off.  I didn't get other quotes because I just moved in and time was a factor, so I can't really comment on price.  During the week, they dropped of a large paint sample thing to make may choices from.  They arrived early to start the two-day job, a Friday and a Saturday.  They finished the job on Saturday, as promised.  My master bath was not painted, the wood on the steps was not painted, they removed all the drapery hardware and it was tossed out apparently, they took a blind down in the master bedroom and I had to remind many times for them to fix it, they did with crazy glue.  The walls and ceiling are beautiful but the trim is horrible.  I am still painting over spots that were missed or the paint was wiped off when they cleaned the floors.  There was a quarter sized drop of paint on my maple dining room table.  There was a large spot of white trim paint on the colored wall in the hall, but worst of all I continue to clean small spots and areas where there is white paint on the oak floors. They did do me one favor and lift a TV back up above the fireplace that had been taken down for painting. They did leave all the extra paint in the basement, one bucket not closed and has a paint roller floating in it.  The worst thing was them teasing my dogs and getting them agitated and pushing each other towards them and laughing.  Overall, I don't think I had an "A" experience.  Unfortunately I would not recommend them or use them again.

"We had a flood in our basement caused by a water main break. The water backed up from the meter into our finished basement. Zelaya construction repaired the concrete damaged by the water, repaired the wallboard in two rooms that had to be cut away, replaced 4 doors that were damaged, replaced trim in 3 rooms, painted the rooms and selected replacement carpet that matched the previous carpet exactly. Their work was meticulous and they made good suggestions for completing. They finished in the time frame estimated. All the workers were diligent and respectful. By the end of the project, I felt like they were family. I highly recommend this company."

"These guys were awesome and saved us a significant amount of money while giving us a superior product to the one we had lined up!  When my wife and I initially were looking into getting new windows, we were pretty naive about the whole process and submitted a request online for quotes from multiple retailers in the area.  To our surprise, within minutes our phone was ringing off the hook and so we started setting up appointments with the different retailers in the order they called.  As it turned out, Supreme Window and Doors was our last appointment (out of about 5).  Our plan going into it was to hear what each of the window retailers had to offer before deciding on one, but we quickly found out that in the window business that's not such an easy task.  Each of the retailers that came to our house had a sales scheme and put a fair amount of pressure on us to sign a contract at the time of our appointment (or they stated they would not be able to provide us the "deal" they were promising).  Our first appointment was from a retailer that quoted us $36,000!!  Fortunately, we did not sign a contract and were able to eventually get them out of our house.  We then heard from a couple of others, before signing a contract with Window Nation.  They quoted us around $14,000 for a standard double pane window (which sounded pretty good compared to the other quotes we had received) so we ended up signing a contract with them after a visit that lasted about 3-4 hours.  We were hesitant to sign but we opted to do so so we could make sure we got the "initial visit" discount they were offering.  After signing the contract, we called Supreme Window and Door the next day to cancel our visit.  The guy I talked to was incredibly reasonable and stated that he had no problem canceling our appointment, but wondered how much our contract with Window Nation was for.  I did not tell him, but he volunteered that based on the number of windows we were talking about replacing we should only be paying around $10,000.  With that, he said, "Look, how 'bout I have one of my guys come over to your house tomorrow morning and take a look.  I promise no gimmicks or pressure.  He'll take a look and give you an offer.  If it sounds good then we can help you get out of the contract with Window Nation.  If not, than you've lost nothing."  I was a bit reluctant but agreed anyway.  As it turned out, Supreme Window and Door was true to their word.  Albert, their sales rep, showed up the next morning and took a quick look around.  After about 20 minutes, he said he could get us triple pane windows for $9,800!  He then said if we were set on the window that Window Nation was offering that he could get us the same exact window for $8,000!  It was a fairly easy decision at that point.  After telling us briefly why he would recommend the triple pane window option, we opted for the triple pane.  That afternoon Albert was able to help us get out of our contract with Window Nation.  A few days later we had another rep come by to do the measurement and our windows were installed just a few weeks after that.  We are extremely happy with our windows (and the installation) and we are extremely happy that we were able to save nearly $4,000 while getting a better quality window than the one being offered by Window Nation.  At some point in the future, we are planning on replacing the doors in our house and we will not think twice about going first to Supreme Window and Door.

"I originally hired Marshall Painter (from Great American Log Homes) to add a landing and stairs to my deck and put in a patio under my deck. They did such a great job that I hired them again to do my basement and basement bathroom. I was not disappointed, Marshall, Raul (and their guys) did another terrific job on my basement. They worked very hard to meet all of my requirements and were always courteous and trustworthy. I would definitely recommend them and would hire them again. They are also very reasonably priced. Thanks Marshall and Raul for all of your hard work !!"

FAQs for wood or fiber cement siding installation or complete replacement projects in Boyce, VA

Hardie board siding lasts between 30 and 50 years when properly installed and maintained, while vinyl siding provides 20 to 40 years of service. Installation quality significantly impacts longevity for both materials. Fiber cement offers superior resistance to impact and fire damage, though vinyl often resists fading better in some climates. Both materials provide substantial manufacturer warranties, though specific terms vary by product line and company.

Maintaining Hardie board siding involves periodic cleaning with a garden hose and soft brush to remove accumulated dirt and debris. Unlike wood siding, it doesn't require regular staining or sealing. Primed boards painted on-site may eventually need repainting, while factory-finished products maintain their appearance longer. Inspecting caulking around joints and penetrations annually helps prevent moisture issues and preserve the siding's integrity.

Installing Hardie board over existing siding may be possible if your current siding is flat and in good condition, and if local building codes permit this approach. However, many professionals recommend completely removing old materials to inspect for hidden damage and ensure proper installation. Overlay installations might affect manufacturer warranty coverage. Consulting with a qualified siding contractor and your local building department will help determine the best approach for your situation.

Hardie board siding stands up exceptionally well to diverse weather challenges. Its cement-based composition resists expansion and contraction during temperature fluctuations, preventing warping and cracking. The material withstands high winds, heavy rain, and hail better than many alternatives. Its non-combustible nature provides excellent fire resistance with a Class A rating. James Hardie manufactures climate-specific product lines optimized for regional weather patterns across North America.

Hardie board siding offers environmental benefits primarily through its exceptional durability and longevity. By lasting decades longer than many alternatives, it reduces the need for frequent replacement and associated resource consumption. The manufacturing process does require significant energy input, but the extended service life helps offset this impact over time. When selecting siding options, consider both production factors and lifetime performance when evaluating environmental impact.

The installation timeline for Hardie board siding depends on several factors, including home size, architectural complexity, and weather conditions. Professional installation teams complete projects within one to two weeks for average homes. Factors that may extend this timeline include extensive preparation work, repairs to underlying structures, complex trim details, and weather delays. Establishing clear expectations with your contractor before beginning work helps ensure a smooth installation process.
