"We called S & S Electric and they sent Scott and Nick, who arrived promptly. They had to order a new box for the generator to be connected and a new circuit breaker box, as well as a new meter. They changed everything from the outside into the house and got us set up for the night. The next day, John and Nick came to finish the job. All three gentlemen were very knowledgeable and professional. I would not hesitate to recommend them or to call them for any future electrical work."

"We completely lost power in our home just as it was getting dark on Monday night. I went to Angi and put in a request for an electrician. It asked if I needed to have a call right away and after saying yes I was contacted by Scott from Belcher Electric. I explained our situation and he asked where we lived. I told him and he said he was not far away and was picking up his dinner. He told me he could be here in about a half hour. He came right over and let me know the main on our electrical panel had failed. He told us he could get a crew right over and replace it for us as he did not want elderly people to be without electricity. We had previously had work done in August and were told we would eventually need to have our panel replaced. We were given a quote at that time but we were not in a position to cover that high of an expense. The quote Scott had given us was much lower and more in our price range, especially when he was going to come back with a crew and replace it immediately. He told us it would take about 2 or 3 hours to complete. He returned with his crew and everything he needed to do the job. In 2 hours we had power! He replaced the old 150 panel with a 200 panel and he and his men checked all the lights and the water pressure to make sure everything was good. He checked the line outside and because we still had a little flickering of the lights he suggested we contact National Grid in the morning and have them check the line at the pole as that may have been the reason for the failure. In the morning I did contact National Grid and they sent Someone out. He found there was a problem and he was able to replace a line. Thanks to Scott and the two men who came out and replaced the panel in the dark, we were Also able to have a problem with our outside line repaired. I am so thankful to him and National Grid for helping to keep us safe from an electrical issue that could have been so much worse. Also thank you for being so reasonable with your pricing."

"I?d like to overwhelmingly and enthusiastically recommend Salvato Electric for any electrical work you need done in the area. I?ve had a series of exceptional experiences with them. I first met Matt and the crew when they did some cleanup work on my house in Providence after I had the siding replaced. They did great work and were incredibly easygoing, so I later had them come back to add a 220V outlet for a welder. the total price was incredibly reasonable, and the work was done very professionally; especially considering that my house, along with some of its electrical work, is a century old. Scheduling was also incredibly friendly and flexible, with the team happy to work around any time constraints. Overall, A++ service and work. Please put Salvato Electric at the top of your list for any electrical needs."

"I have been using Jay's services now for the past few years. He upgraded our Electrical Panel, and Installed a new Generator. Yesterday he came over to fix a faulty wiring. He knew within 10 minutes what the issue was and within 45 minutes the problem was fixed and the wiring was repaired. I highly recommend him.. He does excellent work, easy to work with, fair pricing. All around nice guy"

FAQs for electrical wiring or panel upgrade projects in Bradford, RI

Yes, a licensed electrician is essential for this project. Running an electrical service from the road to your house involves connecting to utility power lines, complying with national and local electrical codes, and safely handling high-voltage systems.

Licensed professionals understand proper wire sizing, grounding requirements, and voltage drop calculations needed for safe installation. Most jurisdictions require permits and inspections that only certified professionals can obtain. The safety risks and potential for property damage make this project inappropriate for DIY attempts.

Overhead installations are less expensive than underground options. For a 1000-foot run, overhead service costs between $8,000 and $15,000, while underground service ranges from $10,000 to $25,000.

Overhead lines require less labor and fewer materials since they don't need trenching or conduit. However, underground lines offer better protection from weather events and aesthetic benefits. Your decision should balance your budget constraints with long-term reliability and visual preferences.

You might need to upgrade your electrical panel depending on your power requirements. If your existing panel cannot handle the additional load from the extended service, upgrading to a 200-amp service (costing $750 to $2,000) may be necessary.

A licensed electrician can evaluate your current system and determine if an upgrade is required. Factors include what you'll be powering at the end of the line, existing electrical demand, and whether voltage drop over the distance will affect performance.

Running electric service from the road to a house requires electrical permits from your local building department, costing between $500 and $2,000 depending on your location. You may also need excavation permits for trenching work if installing an underground service. Your utility company will have its own application process for connecting to its grid. A licensed electrical contractor can handle all the necessary permit applications as part of their service, ensuring your installation meets all local code requirements.
