"Replacement of chimney went very well and I am very pleased with the look. Previous chimney was leaking through mortar cracks and was faced with basalt rock. It would have been very expensive to tear down and replace and Chris suggested several brick colors, dropped them over for us to consider, and drew some pictures of replacement chimney to match mid century house and neighborhood. He also reused old cap material on new chimney and was able to use material to repair rear brick chimney cap."

"I USE THIS COMPANY ALL THE TIME AND AM VERY SATISFIED WITH THEIR SERVICES. THE NICE THING ABOUT THIS COMPANY IS I WILL CALL THEM TO CLEAN MY CHIMNEY AND THEY COME OUT PROMPTLY. HOWEVER, IF THEY FEEL MY CHIMNEY IS NOT IN NEED OF BEING CLEANED THEY WILL TELL ME AND NOT CHARGE ME FOR THE VISIT."

"Due to excellent reviews from Angie’s List, we decided to hire MCS Roofing and Construction. Marlon immediately replied to my e- mail and even called me directly to inform that he can check out our roof the next day. He showed up on time and told us he can repair the roof leak at a fair price. However, he advised us to change the roof in one year time to avoid further leak problem due to the poor workmanship and quality of our roof shingles. He offered us a great deal, and we agreed to completely change the roof instead of simply repairing it. The crew came the next day and finished the new roof installation in 3.5 days. They used good quality shingles that have a 15 year labor warranty. The crew clean up the worksite after their work is done. Our roof looks great and stands out in our neighborhood. They really did an amazing job, and we are really happy with their work. We will definitely recommend to everyone."

"It went extremely well. The team of framers assigned to this project was responsible, timely and competent, always demonstrating a commitment toward doing high quality work, and always ready to consult with the owner, amenable to considering owner suggestions and when appropriate, working with him. In addition, they were very good about preparing themselves for the utilization of construction methods not previously encountered, such as using Warmboard for the floor and SIPS for the ceiling/roof. The company owner, Chris Peterson, while not present during the work, obviously set the tone for the cheerful, pleasant demeanor and the high quality work of the teams (framers and project manager). In addition, he was amenable to doing as much as possible to lessen the cost, e.g., allowing the owner to purchase materials when convenient, and allowing the owner to contract for other work, such as roofing, directly, saving the cost to the owner of the necessary contractor markups. He was also good about allowing the scope of the project to be increased with a minimum of fuss. While the project was first to be confined to the attic/dormer conversion, as the work proceeded, it became apparent that this would be a most opportune time to remodel some of the extant first floor substantially. This included removing a non-bearing wall and removing the plaster from much of the walls and ceiling of the old lathe and plaster construction, installing no less than eight new 1st floor windows and removing the old siding and replacing it with new fiber-cement siding on the whole house. Chris estimated the cost of the project as somewhere around $100K. While the ultimate cost of the whole project was slightly more than that, this included costs for many items not included in the original project, such as 1st floor remodeling and window installing and siding the whole house. Indeed, the total cost of Raincap's work, despite the additional work, was slightly less than $70K."

"About 13 years ago, we had a chimney fire in a newly bought house. Not sure if previous residents ever cleaned it and I didn't know any better, this being our first house. Northwest Chimney Service repaired the cracked chimney and installed a chimney liner for the wood burning stove. A fears years later, we also used them to install a new woodburning stove insert. And, for over a decade, Northwest Chimney Service has been providing our yearly cleaning service, helping us ensure we won't have a repeat of the chimney fire. Every interaction has been very professional. The only gotcha is that everyone else wants their chimney cleaning in the fall, so schedule early. As I learned one year, if I wait until the first cold snap, the next available appointment could be 45 days out."

"The new roof cost is more than what we originally budgeted, but after it's installed I feel like it's worth the money. Visually it's very 3 dimensional with nice thickness to each tile. We love the new roof. We also bought the ridge venting system, that's another thing that brings piece of mind and improve the longevity. We also took the 5-star (vs the standard 4-star) warranty. Just in case if Pinnacle changes business, Certainteed would still cover it. Pinnacle was not the lowest cost option but the owner Lenny was willing to work with us and considered a slight discount to lock in the project. In retrospect, $500 off a $23K roofing project was really not much, but the fact that they are willing to work with us made the deal happen. The crew showed up on schedule to remove the old roof and nailed in new boards. We choose the more expensive plywood option after a bit of research, that's pretty much the foundation to the roof so we didn't try to save money for the cheaper material. Then the install crew came back and in 3 days the new roof was up. They did a fantastic job in all aspects. They even took our skylight apart and replaced the weather seals while they added additional sealing material (we paid for that option) around the all the contact points with the roof."

"When they called me back, they took my address, looked it up online and were able to immediately give me an idea of what the potential issues were based on the location of the leak. Someone was at our house within an hour and a half to take a look. They immediately diagnosed the problem as a cracked vent, one of the potential problems they had discussed on the phone, and double checked the attic to make sure there were no more leaks. They replaced the vent and even cleaned out the gutter on that side of the roof. Less than 12 hours after finding it, the leak was fixed. We are very pleased at their quick and courteous service."

"Started  8/22/14 and finished 10/13/14. The chimney was supposed to be the first thing done. It was the first thing started the last thing finished . On numerous occasions  no one showed up when  promised. The chimney work was in my opinion  "terrible ". All 3 flue tiles were smaller than the originals, and not what was quoted on bid. The larger flue was installed with a large rock under one side of the tile to make it level and to keep it from falling into the tile below it.They left part of the  mortar excess in place. I had to have them regrind and remortar it. I had to request, the nail holes be caulked, and other finish work be done. The entryway was discussed extensively on what I wanted done. However it was left out of the bid. I knew it would get more involved once they tore into it, and the cost adjusted accordingly, but it wasn't included at all. All the materials  used were charged at over twice retail cost.. This was the worst contractor  experience  I have ever had, and I have owned 3 apartment units (17 total apartments) and 5 rental houses. <br />"

"The inspection missed one important point: the ridge on top of the crown where the chimney cap fits on had totally crumbled off. This was not reported in the inspection report. Consequently, since the crown was flat at the time and we had heavy rain the water came down the chimney opening. The headshield is a cheaper alternative, I would probably go with relining the flue with stainless steel."
