"Im.very happy with the installation and service. From the sales rep to the installer s. First of all, the installers were very professional and cleaned up. If I didn't know better, I would have thought no work was done on my property. The team took the time to help me setup the app and explained exactly how the system worked. I was so pleased, I decided to have them install a system in my backyard. One really cool feature I wasn't expecting was the automating. The sprinkler is a smart sprinkler system. It tests the moisture in the ground and the weather and will not water the lawn if it doesn't need it. I didn't expect that. Kudos to Geary for being patient and answering all.my questions and concerns. "

"Initially things went pretty smoothly with this company, we got the written quote, chose to go with them. There then began to be communication problems, by this time it was getting pretty late in the year. When we finally nailed them down for installation it was December (late). The crew that came to do the install was not led by anyone we had spoken to previously about the job (salesman or the owner). They went to work and worked hard the whole day at the job. It took much longer than we were told it would, I ended up having to be off work the entire day. They didn't bring a part for the indoor control box wiring, so I had to go to a store and buy one for them. Once the crew finished and showed me the system was working and running water, I asked them if they were going to blow it out and winterize it (it was late December). They said no, that I would have to call the office and set up another appointment for that. I found this ridiculous as I was about to leave town for the holidays. They could not schedule winterization for before I left, thankfully the new system didn't freeze solid while I was gone. Once again came more communications problems with respect to the winterization, several failures to return messages etc. They finally scheduled but I told them I couldn't take the time off work. They gave instructions to turn off the water main in the house and they could do it without me there. I did this and when I returned home that night and turned the main water back on, there was all kinds of noise and shaking coming from the newly installed system pipes in the basement. I had no idea what was causing it but I couldn't very well keep the water off. Then a neighbor knocked on my door and asked if I had a water main break? I didn't think so but went outside to look and there was a RIVER running around the side of my house from the system. The person who had winterized it left the blow-out valve wide open and water was pouring out against the foundation of my house and running down the street. My understandably irate husband called the Irrigation Professionals the next day, he was hung up on (he used some salty language). After calming down there was another visit arranged for someone to come and PROPERLY winterize the system AGAIN. I thought this was a rather miserable experience and found the company's staff, other than the installation crew to be anything but professional."

"When we bought our current house it had a yard irrigation system and the prior owner recommended Neal, so we had him come out and start up the system the first spring after we moved in. He's a really nice guy, is the sole proprietor of his business, and does great work at a reasonable price. The first year he told me he would be happy to show me the start up and shutdown procedure for the system if I wanted to do it myself as it would be cheaper than paying him to do it. However, I find his pricing reasonable and like that we get the system checked over thoroughly by him twice a year. If you have an irrigation system or are thinking of installing one, he's great and I would thoroughly recommend him. <br />"

"Jim and Mike were responsive and professional. I wanted to improve some of the grading around our new home and extend the down spouts further from the house and add dirt around septic and propane tanks where settling had occurred. They happened to be in my area the day after I called so they waived their consult fee. They gave great advice and their price was reasonable. After I asked to remove one item due to a change of plans, they were flexible and took if off the price. Weather delayed their work start but they kept me informed along the way and showed up on time on the scheduled day and completed the project to a high level of quality. Very trustworthy and pleasant to work with."

"Nearly perfectly. Carlos came to the site months before the work started to provide estimates and to schedule it. This company showed up on the days it was needed during a complicated project. Their workers had to install underground pipes among established plants, under a cobblestone drive, etc. After installation, the sites were put back nearly perfectly. There is no dawdling on the work site. Carlos and his people worked well with the other contractors. Carlos is very available by cell to help refine the system which is continuing to be needed. When he is needed, he finds a way to get to the site promptly. <br />"

"Very pleased with the results of the work done. Our experience was very positive. Professional interactions with every representative of the company--they were very accommodating to/with our needs and requests and really seemed to have a great understanding of the plants and drainage issues we were dealing with, as well as how best to address them. We "interviewed" and spoke with over 5 different landscape and lawn care/drainage companies before finally selecting Hometown. They had the most competitive pricing and they really made us feel as if they were eager to help us --something we did not feel from some (but not all) of the companies we considered. They were prompt and very responsive to getting the work scheduled, which was very important to us, as well. <br /> Would definitely recommend Hometown to others and would contact them again for future lawn and landscaping services."

"<p>While Hughes may not be the cheapest (they are also not the most expensive), they have consistently done quality work for us. We have worked with Joe Schaeffer as the lead on our projects and he is always professional, punctual and makes sure all work is done correctly per the estimate. Joe has also been very helpful to us when we have been selecting plants for our yard as we have a significant deer problem. He has taken the extra time to determine which plants will do well in specific areas of our yard based upon light and aesthetics while keeping in mind what the deer are less likely to eat. </p> <p>We would highly recommend Hughes based upon our experience with Joe. </p> <br />"

FAQs for lawn and garden sprinkler system installation projects in Brentwood, MD

While drip irrigation systems have higher upfront costs, they can save you money in the long run. By delivering water directly into the soil with minimal evaporation and runoff, drip irrigation systems conserve water and improve efficiency. This means better performance and results for your landscaping, and cost savings over the system's lifespan.

Yes, irrigation systems can add value to your home, especially when installed with high-quality materials and a solid design. A well-irrigated landscape enhances curb appeal and can attract potential buyers. However, poor design or installation may reduce performance and even decrease your property's value. Hiring an expert for installation and performing regular maintenance is key to securing the long-term benefits.

A local irrigation professional can help you check your drip irrigation system to make sure it's in good shape. You'll want to make sure the water pressure is in a good range, repair any leaks as soon as possible, and cover the cost to winterize your sprinkler system as recommended by your irrigation contractor.

A drip irrigation system lasts between 10 and 15 years. This lifespan is determined by the quality of materials, the precision of installation, and regular professional maintenance. Unlike traditional sprinkler systems that can last up to 50 years, the thinner piping used in drip systems is more sensitive to UV exposure and environmental wear. Proper upkeep and timely repairs enhance durability and ensure consistent irrigation performance.

Drip irrigation is best suited for plant beds, containers, greenhouses, and row crops. It supplies water directly to individual plants, ensuring precise moisture control where it is needed most. For areas with simple layouts, above-ground systems work efficiently, while subsurface installations may be cost-prohibitive in spaces with extensive tree roots or irregular terrain. Proper planning maximizes the benefits of drip irrigation across a variety of applications.
