"The entire process was great! They were the first company that came up when I looked up shower replacements. It seemed as soon as I send for someone to reach out for a consultation appointment my phone was ringing and the person who I spoke to was very nice. When Brexton came out for the consultation we were so comfortable with her and it felt like we know here for years. She gave us all our options and knew there product and took great pride in her company. Our search was over! We knew this was the company we wanted to replace our showerer. When the day came we were so excited! When the installers came they did not disappoint. Randy and Kevin were awesome! They both were very nice and professional and knew their jobs well. They even played with my cat Otto, who really like them, the entire time they were there. At the end of the install they cleaned up and it looked like they were never there. You can tell they take pride in their job and the company they work for. We absolutely love the new shower and highly recommend West Shore Home"

"We had a stall shower installed. Brandon and Dora did an excellent job. Removed old tub. Built a wall and installed the new stall shower. Workmanship is excellent. Cleanup was excellent. I am very pleased from meeting Rosie, the sales person, customer service and getting the job done perfectly."

"It was a great remodel. Only really 1 issue and that was resolved. I would definitely hire calco design again. Micky the installer was the best. 2 days to remove old tub/shower combo and put in new walk in shower. Materials used were top shelf no junk or short cuts."

"Brian came to our home to do a tub to shower installation. He was very respectful and reviewed what he would be doing. The project was completed within the time frame we were told. Again, he reviewed what he had done and how to properly care for the shower. It really looks great and we are looking forward to using it. Thank you Brian and rite window team. Respectfully Leslie Greeley Brewster Ma"

"The installation of our new tub/shower was done in one day. The old tub removal was done in the morning, and the new tub and surround were done in the afternoon. The crew did a professional job, and left the bathroom spotless."

"Other than promises made by the sales person that weren?t done, we?ve had a few issues after install. One of the shower doors has a gap on the bottom causing water leakage on floor. The grab bar shelf protrudes out making the space too narrow. My elbows hit into the shelf and bar on the shower door when showering. Floor was installed with no new threshold or mounding which were we told by salesperson that everything will be replaced."

"I will start by saying that every single person who worked on our bathroom, from the team that did the demo to the people who did finishing touches, was so nice and kept everything as clean as they possibly could. You hear horror stories about renovations and this is definitely not that but I will say I do not believe I got what I paid well above average for - less stress and more attention to detail. I thought having a designer and a project manager would make the whole process less stressful. Even with the significant sum I paid for the designer, things were overlooked and decisions ended up being made on the fly, without consulting me. The big ones were 1) installing a custom shelf that was significantly too small for the space and filling the large gap with caulk instead of just admitting the measurements were off and they needed to order a new shelf. They did ultimately replace and reinstall the shelf at my request. After months of waiting for the new shelf to be installed, there is still a big gap but it’s in the back and I just want to this to be over so I’m not asking for it to be fixed. 2) The spacing of the tiles in one area of the bathroom required some problem solving because they didn’t fit evenly along the wall. The way it was done initially looked sloppy. They were willing to redo it but this required me to purchase more materials. I wish I had been consulted before they were installed. Within 2 months of installation, the grout in our shower cracked. When they came to replace the shelf that they installed even though it was too small, they agreed to fix the grout in the shower. When we got home, we realized the spots where the grout was touched up were done with a totally different grout - one that is not seen anywhere else in our bathroom. This was definitely an odd choice/oversight but mistakes happen… but then when we told the project manager this happened and it needed to be fixed, he told us that the guy just used the grout we gave him! First of all, we did not give this man any grout. Second of all, we are not the professionals here so if this man saw that the grout he thought he was supposed to be using was a completely different color (definitely not mistakable for the grout in our shower) why would he, a professional, not come to us and ask us to confirm that we actually wanted him to use that grout? While the lack of attention to detail and the poor planning bothered me throughout the process, this refusal to take accountability and instinct to blame us for something that we should not and could not be responsible for is what pushed me to leave this review. Lastly, the grout on the walls is a different color than the floor but some of the wall grout color got on the floor in the areas where the floor and wall meet. I thought this would be resolved by the cleaners if they scrubbed it hard enough but they just left and it’s still there. The cleaners also only cleaned the bathroom, not the two connecting bedrooms that were also coated in dust throughout this process like I would have expected."

"I contacted Chris after a few attempts of my own at repairing/replacing my old electric water heater to no avail. I felt like there was a ghost in the system because I had replaced all the parts, heating elements/thermostat/dip tube, in my old water heater and there was no change. After that failed I bought a brand new water heater and that still didn't work. After talking on the phone Chris, he gave me several options and tips that I could use to either repair my existing water heater myself, have him come in and inspect the equipment and repair it, or install a completely new system. Since my water heater was out of warranty, and the parts that I had replaced on my existing water heater did not change the status, and the water heater I purchased from HD had a potentially hazardous digital display, I decided on having him bringing in a new water heater and installing it. His quote was extremely fair for parts/labor (so much so that it was under what a family friend had quoted us on a lesser quality water heater that Chris brought in). Chris was over the very next day with a crew member and the new water heater and upgraded parts for my current connection. They were very personable, knowledgeable, and efficient. They wasted no time and had the old water heater removed, and the new one installed very quickly. I was greatly appreciative that they explained every step to help me understand the process. After the install was completed Chris told me to contact him if the water had not become hot within the hour. Unfortunately the water never did get hot and I called Chris. He immediately got back to me and told me that everything with the new water heater and plumbing was fine, so there was possibly an electrical problem. He contacted his partner Charles who is a master electrician and had him come out within the hour to check my electrical system at NO EXTRA CHARGE! Within 5 minutes of being at my house Charles found that there was a fault in the wiring coming into my house inside the meter causing them to burn. He was able to replace the wires and everything was up and running. They are a great team I HIGHLY recommend them for any of the services they offer. Again, they are very friendly, competitively priced, and knowledgeable on a multitude of household improvements."

FAQs for shower installation and replacement projects in Bridgeport, PA

Replacing your tub with a shower can modernize your bathroom and improve accessibility, often providing a high return on investment. However, if it's the only bathtub in your home, removing it may decrease resale value, as many buyers look for at least one bathtub. Consider your long-term plans and consult a real estate professional if resale value is a concern.

While showers cost slightly more to install than tubs, the overall expense depends on various factors such as materials, size, and features. A tub installation costs $2,400 to $8,800 on average, whereas showers average $2,000 to $9,400. Custom designs, luxury fixtures, or extensive plumbing work can increase costs for both options. It's important to assess your specific needs and budget when deciding between installing a shower or a tub.

Converting a tub to a shower generally takes between one and three days. The timeline depends on the complexity of the project, materials chosen, and whether plumbing modifications are necessary. Installing a standard prefabricated shower can be completed quickly, while custom tile work or extensive plumbing changes may extend the project's duration. Planning accordingly can help minimize disruptions during the conversion.

Converting a tub to a shower offers several benefits, including saving space and making your bathroom feel more open and modern. Showers improve accessibility, especially for those with mobility challenges, by eliminating the need to step over a high tub wall. Additionally, updating to a stylish shower can enhance your bathroom's aesthetic appeal and may increase your home's resale value if another tub is available elsewhere in the house.

Choosing between a shower stall and a custom shower depends on your budget and preferences. Prefabricated stalls are less expensive and faster to install but offer limited styles. Custom showers allow personalization of size, materials, and features but cost more and require professional installation. Evaluate your needs and budget to select the best option for your space.

If you’re converting a tub to a shower, you may want to consider remodeling your whole bathroom. The ROI on bathroom remodels is high (over 70%), so you can enjoy an upgraded bathroom while you live in your home and get your money back if you decide to sell later. The average cost to remodel a bathroom is around $6,600 to $16,600, so factor in this price range when you’re budgeting for your project.

Converting a tub to a shower alone isn't easy to DIY, so look for a bathroom remodeler near you if you decide to take on a larger bathroom remodel to ensure it's done correctly.
