"Great.  I had this work done just over a year ago (should have submitted review sooner).
Estimate.  Charlie examined bathroom, had plenty of samples of options to review, and provided firm fixed quote.  There were some material issues that I'll note below.  At no time did the final cost change.
Timeline.  Installation began about a month or so after I accepted the quote and paid half down for material.  I think Charile was ready in about 2 weeks, but I had business travel.  Working together to find a common acceptable period for installation was easy.
Installation.  The first day Charlie showed up with a crew of 4 to take care of the electrical work (did have another ceiling fan installed) and demolition.  Following that, there were 2 full time workers on site.  They worked long hours, well over 8 hour days.  Normall, the job would have taken about a week.  I'll give more detail on the one issue below that drew the task out longer.  The guys were good about taking care not to impact the rest of the house (carpet, etc.).  After install, they did a good job cleaning up.
During the install, there were a few minor options ... how to frame the door, orientation of tile, the color of the tile, etc.  The crew provided options and good advice (I'm no kind of interior decorator).  The part of the service was excellent.
Quality.  I have done basic carpentry and electrical work.  I believe the quality of the work to be good to excellent, both what you see and what was done "behind the dry wall."  The work that you can see is excellent.
Material.  I was a little worried about the material used for the walls as opposed to tile.  I'm pleased to say I'm more than happy with the "acrylic" (I think that's correct) walls as well as base and door.
Only issue.  The base received was not the correct one.  The second base received had a quality issue.  They guys pointed this out to me.  I'm sure it cost them money out of their pocket / profit to spend the extra time on site.  My take away from this was the guys were MY quality advocates and did what was necessary to ensure the highest quality product was used and the job was done right the first time!  Things happen.  The question is how well does your contractor support you.  While I wasn't crazy about the delay (about 3 days, not major for me).  I was thrilled the issue was immediately brought to my attention and resolved even though it took extra effort on their part.
Overall job outcome.  I feel what was quoted was provided.  Very satisfied.
1 year review ... I remain satisfied.  I have had zero issues.  Other than the glass doors (which are famous for requiring cleaning when used for bath doors - this was noted before installation).  Is the biggest maintenance job.  Caring for the bath itself has required average to minimal effort.

He answered immediately and agreed to come by late that afternoon to take a look and give me a price. He came on time, and even though it was freezing cold,very windy, and almost dark, he said he could fix it right then. "I recommend James Hosmer & his crew at Halo Construction for installing ceramic tile flooring without any reservations. Here is a summary of my experience with Halo Construction: After asking around and finding no one who had been pleased with their ceramic tile installation and interviewing a couple of tile contractors who I did not choose to hire, I consulted Angie's List to find a ceramic tile installation crew to install heavy ceramic tile in an alternating -- grey & white -- diamond pattern in the bottom level of my split level home. After reading the Angie's List reviews, I called James Hosmer of Halo Construction to come and look at my tile project and he came over promptly. My husband and I decided to hire him -- even though we had to wait a month for him to begin work -- because of James's knowledgable and artistic approach to assessing the project. He immediately focused on what we wanted with the tile and layout and -- at this initial stage -- suggested that the decorative trim pieces that I had ordered be placed about 6 inches from the wall instead of directly next to the wall -- as he said the trim would show up better with a little space between the wall and the rest of the tile. And I thought about this for a second and a light went off in my head and I thought -- He's right..... He's right... Why didn't I think of that? And he offered a very reasonable price for labor and I asked him for an estimate of costs for his materials and realized later he was exactly on the money there. I signed the Contract the next day and although I had a bit of trepidation about paying $$ half up front (I only knew him from Angie's List although he did offer some recommendations from people my husband and I knew or knew of) I waited the month until his agreed upon start date and he started right on time and he and his crew were very professional in all aspects of carrying out their job. I communicated with him on the second day about one change my husband & I decided we wanted in the spacing of the tiles and although it cost him some time to redo a section -- he did not complain -- just kept his unerring focus on doing a good job and he ended up doing a great job that my husband and I plan to enjoy for years and years and years. I can't convey how very, very pleased I am with the result of the ceramic tile installation by Halo Construction -- because then I would have to bore you with my three years of selecting tile and samples cracking, advice from architects in the family, and my hesitation to finally commit to doing this first (large, for us) renovation in the home my husband & I bought 17 years ago. It can be a scary process for someone who has heard stories of bad work , etc., so having an outcome with perfect, artistically laid tile has exceeded my expectations. The work is beautiful and James is free to show you photos or to make an appointment to actually see the floor. Because of the pride James & crew take in their work and their dedication to customer satisfaction, I recommend Halo without reservation for any tile project -- big, medium, or small -- this crew knows what they are doing and they get it done right. I had the pleasure of meeting James's adorably cute and plucky three year old and think that when anyone asks her what her dad does, she should reply that he makes other people's houses beautiful! Hire this team and you will not be sorry....

"I will be very honest in my assessment of Amanda. Sitting in front of me I have a beautiful design for my living room and dining room in a townhouse I owned in Houston. Amanda picked beautiful, comfortable chairs, nice wallpaper and very cool lighting.  The problem with Amanda is not her ability to design an amazing room - she certainly is very talented. The problem I experienced with Amanda was the inability to handle the details, to stay on top of the project, and to assist with actually putting the room together. This may be a problem in general, with all on-line designers, who knows.  I do know that I ordered this package from Amanda in August of 2013.  My first conference call with her was some time around October, and my designs were given to me (not the complete design) some time in December.  I learned quickly that when Amanda says she would have something for me "by the end of the week," she really meant about 2-3 weeks down the road.  In any event, I was elated when I got my first design for my dining room. I delayed placing an order because the stuff she picked was a bit pricey and I wanted to save my money over the holidays. I placed an order in early February for two rugs and a chandelier - totaling well over $3,000.00. Amanda advised that it could take about 4 weeks for the rugs and chandelier to come, which was no problem with me.  8 weeks passed and I began emailing Amanda. (Mind you that the money was charged to me immediately, with no follow up emails from any of the manufactures, no indication of shipping, nothing... so I began to feel uneasy). After a couple of unreturned emails and phone calls, Amanda apologized for the delay, mentioned that she was surprised I hadn't received anything yet, and explained to me her mother was in an accident. No biggie, but I explained to her that I would be out of the country in mid-April and unavailable to sign for anything. She assured me the rugs were en route from Georgia and would be there before I leave.  As far as the chandelier, we discovered that they had attempted to deliver it, but Amanda had provided them the incorrect phone number, so they were not able to get in touch with me. I asked her to correct this so I could receive the chandelier. Because I never heard back from the company, and no additional attempts to deliver were made, I am assuming she did not do this.  And, as could be expected, the rugs did not come before I left - they came when I was in Germany and when no one was home to sign for them. Since over 12 weeks had passed since my order, I contacted my credit card company and initiated a charge back.  They agreed with me that it was concerning that so much time had passed with very little contact, and immediately refunded my money. (Amanda and her husband eventually tried to fight my chargeback, but they were of course unsuccessful. I did not have the goods, and they never attempted to re-deliver them). Also, I will add the following to things about my experience with Amanda, which bothered me:
1) I was told in January I would have curtains and throw pillows picked out "by the end of the week." Those never came.
2) Amanda said she had a client in Florida who would ship me a sample of the wallpaper. This never came either. Amanda said it was shipped to me - I never received it and kind of doubt it ever was.
So basically, $500 dollars for two rooms of design got me some dining room chairs (albeit - awesome), a table she picked out that was too expensive so I found a different one, some cool wallpaper that I will never be able to get a sample of, two expensive rugs and a chandelier that resulted in a credit card fight and a headache. At the end of the day, my advice is that if you want a talented and friendly person to design your home, don't mind waiting some time for it all to come together, and are cool with locating the stuff and putting it all together on your own, Amanda may be it for you. If you want a designer who is good at following up with details, assuring stuff gets to you in a reasonable time, and assists with pulling the room together and finalizing your project, I would highly recommend you find someone else."

"The initial visit was thorough and explained all problems. Two different estimates were emailed to us, one for the bracing and one for possible pier placement in one corner. We emailed the contract for the braces and within days, measurements were taken. The next week, a crew of three bolted the braces in place and caulked the stress cracks. All of our questions were answered completely and in language we could understand. The workers were efficient, friendly and helpful. They moved two large shelving units away from the wall and then returned them to their original positions. They also moved some other heavy items we could not move by ourselves and replaced them. We are extremely pleased with the work and the price was reasonable (they were here all day). If placing piers is necessary, they will definitely be the people we call to do the work. They even gave us some tubes of brick pointing material to use on the outside of the house where water had worn away the mortar. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
