"Brandon's response and communication is prompt. Very reasonable. He did padding and stretched the carpet for my basement. He has amazing energy and he knows his job. Gave me 6 months warranty too on the work. All this makes him 100% professional"

"I did my usual multi-bid thing on big projects and <br /> these guys came in at the same price as some others but their responsiveness and professionalism were a few steps above the other guys. <br /> They agreed to do our building during the oddest of weekend hours because we are open all the time and I wanted to minimize business disruption. <br /> Install guys were buttoned-up. Real pros. Never stopped moving. Sweated the details. <br /> They immediately fixed mistakes and faults in the material. In the end they were honest and reliable and good. <br /> I gave a B for quality because the floors haven't been down that long so I have no history as to how they will hold up...but they are the same floors as Providence hospital and they have had them for years with no problems. True...they don't have to deal with Rottweilers.... <br /> ;) <br /> I recommend them. <br />"

"Great! The carpet came in quickly and it was installed in one day. They even vacuumed up the stray strands when they were done. All I had to do was move the furniture back."

"The carpet installation team was prompt, arriving just after 9 am on my scheduled appointment date.  The guys were pleasant, efficient, and got the job done in  a couple hours, including removal of my old carpet and pad.  The new carpeting is beautiful and feels great on my feet.   <br /> <br /> THANK you SO much, John, and the staff of Hook's Carpet Mart - I recommend them highly!"

"At first <br /> we were a little apprehensive about using a store that had outside <br /> contractors installing the carpet. Lowes assured us that they have a <br /> very good installer who would to the installation. <br /> We were extremely <br /> satisfied with the work "Spencer" did on the installation of our carpet. <br /> He and his assistant were very professional and did an OUTSTANDING job <br /> on our carpet. They took extra precautions to make sure every seam was <br /> done properly and that each of the edges and corners were done exactly <br /> right. <br /> We could not be happier with our new carpet...it looks fantastic! <br /> Since the installation we have had friends over who were <br /> equally impressed with the work that they had done. They said that they <br /> would be certain to make Lowes their first stop for new carpet as long <br /> as "Spencer" does the installation. <br />"

"We were hesitant to use Empire but so glad we did! We had a rep from the carpet guys come out first and he wasn't very knowledgeable and had one carpet to choose from with what we wanted. The next day Empire came out, our sales lady was much more knowledgeable, very kind, and had many options in what we wanted! They have a promotion online that says buy one room, get all other rooms for $50 but of course that's only for crap carpet no one wants or buys so that was frustrating, but she worked with us on pricing and the carpet was installed 6 days later! (It could have been sooner but we chose to wait). We were a little concerned the day before installation because the email said they would come anytime between 8am-6pm, which worried us that they'd come late and not be finished that day. But two men arrived at 820am and were done, cleaned up and moved all of our furniture back by 1130am! It was a very smooth process and I'd recommend them to friends & family."

FAQs for carpet installation projects in Brighton, MI

Carpet rolls come in standard widths of 12 and 15 feet. Less commonly, you might find a roll 13.5 feet wide. There are no standard roll lengths, but they’ll have enough to cover almost any home.

You’ll need equal amounts of carpet padding and carpet. Carpet padding costs $200 to $500 for the average room. However, the padding is trimmed a couple of inches away from the wall on all sides to make room for tack strips. Most residential installs have padding, and professionals include this in their bids.

Often, the best carpet for basements doesn’t include a pad. You’ll find this mainly in humid areas or places with a high-water table.

One linear foot of carpet or other material is simply one foot measured in a straight line. You typically aren’t going to measure carpet this way. It’s quoted in square feet or square yards.

There are nine square feet in one square yard of carpet.

The amount of carpet you need to cover two rooms varies depending on the room size and configuration. Measure the floor space. Multiply width times length. Do this for both rooms and add the numbers together.

You’ll need between 80 and 110 square feet for 13 stairs. For unique stairwells, you might need more.

Measure indoor/outdoor carpet like you would any other area, taking the width times the length. For patios, make sure to add a couple extra inches to wrap around the edges. Indoor-outdoor carpets cost an average of $3.50 per square foot.

You’ll need enough carpet to cover the entire area of damage to avoid seams. For example, if you have a 4-inch tear in the middle of a hallway, you’ll want enough carpet to stretch from door to door or the next available seam. Depending on the type of carpet you have, you might be able to get a professional to do an invisible seam repair.

One square foot of carpet is one foot long by one foot wide.
