"We had issues with a small amount of water in the basement months ago. We finally fixed the water issue, so were tearing up the old cork floor to replace it with a new floor. Tearing up the floor brought a musty smell. There was a vapor barrier under the flooring, and there appeared to be green gunk under the vapor barrier which we suspected was mold. We contacted 3 mold remediation companies through Angie's List. One provided a quote over the phone, did not see a need to send someone out and look at the situation. Another company sent somebody out who confirmed the mold and gave a hefty quote for mold remediation. Valor Mold Removal was the last provider to visit. Teddy from Valor looked over the situation carefully, and came to the conclusion that there was no mold! He determined that the green stuff under the vapor barrier was residue from the leftover mastic from a tile floor removed years ago. He also suggested that the mastic might have asbestos, and I should have that looked into (and after some internet research, I found he nailed this too!). He said there was no work for his company to do for mold removal, and there was no bill for his visit. I was so grateful, he saved me a great deal of money!
